Zac Schulze Gang Bring Retro Blues to Life with Debut Album Straight To It, Out September 26th The Zac Schulze Gang are thrilled to announce the release of their debut studio album, Straight To It, arriving September 26, 2025 on Ruf Records. True to its title, Straight To It wastes no time, delivering blues-soaked rock ’n’ roll that grabs hold and doesn’t let go. Fronted by guitarist and vocalist Zac Schulze whose fretwork blends precision, fire, and raw passio the band thrives on collective energy rather than individual spotlight. Alongside Zac, his brother Ben (drums) and bassist Ant Greenwell create a thunderous rhythm section that powers the trio’s huge, unrelenting sound without ever losing sight of the songs. On Straight To It, that chemistry shines through. The album explodes open with “The Rocker,” a breathless call-to-arms, and barrels forward with the blitzing “High Roller.” Yet the band also showcases their melodic instincts with the punchy power-pop of “Angeline” and the soaring alt-rock anthem “Betterland.” Throughout, their mix of grit and melody evokes the menace of Dr. Feelgood and the fire of Rory Gallagher two touchstones for Zac’s own musical journey. That journey traces back to the pandemic, when Zac first stumbled across Gallagher’s searing performance of “Bullfrog Blues” online. Inspired, he roped in Ben and Ant fellow veterans of the Kent DIY punk circuit and the Zac Schulze Gang was born. Their breakthrough came in 2022 at Rory Gallagher’s Tribute Festival, sparking a rapid rise through the UK blues scene. Since then, the trio have built a reputation as relentless road warriors, clocking up to 250 gigs a year across the UK and Europe. From sweaty club shows to festival slots alongside Eddie 9V, Samantha Fish, and even Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Festival in Los Angeles (2023), their live firepower has been undeniable. Along the way, they dropped their EP Made of Three (2023) and Live and Loud (2024), accolades following soon after including Best Emerging Blues Band (UK Blues Awards 2024) and Young Artist of the Year (2025). Produced by longtime collaborator Ian Sadler, Straight To It captures the Zac Schulze Gang at full throttle. Whether it’s the raucous house-rocker “I Won’t Do This Anymore” (featuring Nigel Feist on harmonica) or the band’s punchy modern rock cuts, the record proves they’re not just torchbearers for the blues they’re pushing it forward, making some of the most vital rock ’n’ roll today.
