"A Little Too Late," Produced by Kid Andersen and Featuring Backing by West Coast Musician All-Stars
“Recording at Greaseland was by far the most efficient and enjoyable studio experience of my music career thus far. I was a little nervous at first because I had never met Kid in person or the band he had put together, and I wasn’t sure if the guys would like the tunes I had written. It turns out the band had made up charts already and after recording six songs the first day, I felt that I had picked the right studio and Kid had chosen the right players. We only had about a week to record and mix everything, so that first day was a good sign. Also, working with Kid Andersen was easy because he knew what sound I was looking for, plus his attitude and sense of humor kept the mood light and everyone relaxed.”
The songs on A Little Too Late strike a perfect balance between blues-oriented tracks and roots rocker/rockabilly sounds, creating a trove of grooves just right for dancing and listening.
“My favorite song on the album is probably ‘Please Don’t Cry,’ says Green. “Lisa Leuschner Andersen sings with me on that track and her voice gives me chills, as well as the piano and organ played by Jim Pugh. This is one of the songs I wrote just a few weeks before heading to California, which makes me think I may write better under pressure. Most of the songs are written about past relationships gone wrong as heard in the title song ‘A Little Too Late.’ I wanted the mood of the album to be playful but also serious like in ‘Damage Done,’ which is about asking for forgiveness. I’ve found I’m most inspired when I’m either beginning a relationship or in the process of ending one. I believe we captured the emotion and feeling I had envisioned for this recording and I couldn’t be happier with the way it came out.”
Travis Green will support the release of A Little Too Late with a number of shows in and around Austin:

Jeff Beck will release his first new album in six years, Loud Hailer – named after another word for a megaphone – this summer. The record contains 11 tracks that span funk, electronic music, soul and the blues and an emphasis on vocal songs. The record will come out digitally and on CD and LP on July 15th.
"I really wanted to make a statement about some of the nasty things I see going on in the world today," Beck said in a statement. "I loved the idea of being at a rally and using this loud device to shout my point of view."
The guitarist previously told Rolling Stone his aim with the album was to move past "guitar nerd" albums, which is why he teamed with singer Rosie Bones and guitarist Carmen Vandenberg of the London group Bones, who wrote the songs and their lyrics with him. Beck met them at Queen drummer Roger Taylor's birthday party and after seeing them live, he drafted them to help him to redefine his sound.
"I thought, 'If I don't change course now [musically], I'll be stuck with that Guitar World [magazine] thing, and that's not where I come from at all,'" Beck said at a listening preview of the album. "Even though I've been on about 400 of their front covers, I'm not that person."
At the listening event earlier this year, Rolling Stone asked if he intended the LP to be a protest album. "It's an observation," he said. "It's undeniable when [Rosie] sings, 'plastic fantastic little creatures,' it's complaining about the plasticity of reality shows like American Idol and all this, where 99.5 percent of it is just crap and you should never be exposed to it, just to get that little morsel of talent," he said. "That, to me, is just the worst, so that's my little poke at that."
Once the album is out, Beck will hit the road for a tour with Buddy Guy. He will also stage a special concert at the Hollywood Bowl on August 10th, with guests yet to be announced, to commemorate his 50-year career. The latter show will include an orchestra.
This year, he's also putting out his first official book, Beck01, which focuses on his two passions, rock & roll and hot-rodding cars. Mahavishnu Orchestra and Shakti guitarist John McLaughlin wrote the foreword, which begins, "Jeff Beck is my all-time favorite guitarist, what do I say after that?" The book, which features more than 400 rare and previously unpublished photos, will be hand-bound in leather and aluminum and each copy will be signed by the author.
Loud Hailer Track List:
1. "The Revolution Will Be Televised"
2. "Live in the Dark"
3. "Pull It"
4. "Thugs Club"
5. "Scared for the Children"
6. "Right Now"
9. "The Ballad of the Jersey Wives"

He has been a huge influence on every music scene he has been involved in, leading the way for such artists as Matisyahu, Alborosie, Josh Heinrichs, Skillinjah and groups like Soja and Fortunate Youth, from a time when American born artists were not performing Hip Hop, Roots or Dancehall in a West Indian Patois. A man whose life seems to have been created for music, Rocker-T is a pulsating force with much energy and love to share with the world.

Psychedelic Post-Punk band Bulgogi have finally released their highly anticipated third album “Juan Dissed The Cyclops Baby”! The band's music has been described as a “twitchy, dancey, textural adventure through nightscapes, static dreams and startlingly sweet melodies.” Howling with operatic falsettos, pounding with sad giant drums and textured with incorporeal, corpse-lit guitars, “Juan Dissed The Cyclops Baby” is a soggy, serene sermon of schadenfreude for the mad children of today. The message: be free, be crazy, espouse chaos. Eat man flesh.
Bulgogi, Korean for “fire meat,” is a type of marinated beef, a dish of some repute. The quartet seems to channel its power from the concept of this flaming meat. Says frontman Tim Tsurutani, “Life is foggy and misty as hell. Sometimes things are beautiful. Sometimes things are the opposite of that. Mostly, things are boring or just confusing. Fortunately, some people have incredible visions of reality that transcend the mundane stuff. 'Juan Dissed The Cyclops Baby' pays homage to that-not knowing what the hell is going on and being enraged by what we see happening but at the same time maybe having a fool's faith that there's something bigger out there? Something cosmic we hope? Cthulhu?”
It all started with one dude in a damp basement in West Asheville, NC. Bedroom recordings of endless guitar tracks spilled over dance beats made up the bones, muscle and fat of Bulgogi's first release, “Give Up Your Guts”, a series of eerie but pretty dance punk tunes. After 2014's sophomore release, “Bibimbap”, Bulgogi became a four piece and set out to record a rock opera. Many sweaty and feverish shows later, chronic ADHD had reduced the rock opera to perhaps a 4 song EP instead.
With the help of a young local producer, the lads finally managed to piece together “Juan Dissed The Cyclops Baby”, a gleeful and manic amalgam of prog rock, psychedelic, post punk and a certain je ne sais quois.
Says bassist Galen, “Writing the songs together was very exciting because we had only just become a four piece and were still learning who we all were. At first we wanted to call the album 'Jaundiced Cyclops Baby' and people were like, 'why? That name is terrible.' To us, it kind of represented like a gestational period. We were all experiencing weird post adulthood growing pains. Pressure to be successful and not really getting there was haunting us. We wanted a lot of people to hear our music, but it was hard because we were poor and had to work day jobs. It took us awhile to be able to prioritize what we were doing and somehow that title seemed appropriate. Then we realized it actually sucked and changed it to 'Juan Dissed The Cyclops Baby' which is borderline nonsense. Ah well.”
GALEN plays bass. He might be a college graduate.
RYAN plays guitar like it is a modular synthesizer and is generally a confused person.
HUGH plays drums. His real name is probably Hubert. His hair is red.
TIM sings and plays guitar. He is the sexiest member. It is not close.
Here's what the press has said about Bulgogi:
“A twitchy, dancey, textural adventure through nightscapes, static dreams and startlingly sweet melodies.Tsurutani's lyrics may be tongue-in-cheek at points, but his acrobatic vocal abilities are no joke.” - Alli Marshall, Mountain Xpress
“A wonderfully hook-filled sound that's at once intense and hauntingly melodic.” - Peter Hay, Twinvision
“The Asheville psychedelic dance punks brought a ton of weirdness to the table on their January release, BIBIMBAP. We’re glad they did, because Weird Kids Don't Love might be our favorite song from the tarheel state this year.” - Future Chord
In support of the new album, the band plans to produce a music video featuring bizarre monsters terrorizing a man driving a modest sedan. “We seem to have a guilty pleasure for launching assaults on the everyday humdrum of modern life,” says singer Tsurutani. “Also we have a friend who is amazing at costume design, so why not?”
In closing Bulgogi has this to impart, “Don’t be afraid. Don’t let fear and selfishness breed oppression. No one is free until everyone is free.”

Michael Buble has been forced to cancel a number of upcoming appearances to undergo vocal surgery.
The 40-year-old singer took to Twitter.com on Wednesday (18May16) to share the news with fans in a post titled, 'A Message from Michael'.
"I wanted to let you know that I am bowing out of some upcoming events due to pending vocal surgery which will require a period of time for me to rest and recover," he wrote. "No talking or singing for a while but my doctors expect a complete recovery."
Michael went on to explain he was "especially sorry" to miss the Canadian Governor General Performance Award Gala on 11 June (16), as he was due to be honoured at the event.
"This award will now be presented at next year's 25th Anniversary on June 29th, 2017," he added.
The star has also pulled out of a Marvin Gaye tribute at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. on 5 June (16).
"Thank you in advance for your prayers and good wishes," he continued. "I'll keep you up to date on my progress."
Michael is the latest in a long list of famous singers who have had to undergo vocal surgery in recent years.
Meghan Trainor underwent the procedure last year (15), and revealed to Most Requested Live she had turned to British singer Sam Smith for advice as he had been through the same thing earlier in the year.
Meanwhile, fellow British powerhouse Adele also had surgery on her vocal cords in 2011.
While she made a full recovery, she told British talk show host Graham Norton she felt like her voice was different now, compared to what it had sounded like before.
"At the very beginning (after the operation) it changed, it was very clean," she said. "Obviously I used to smoke quite a lot, so all the scars that my voice had from most of my life were gone (after the surgery), it was like a brand new voice."
Motown's BJ the Chicago Kid will also be featured on commemorative 10-inch vinyl EP.
In celebration of the 45th anniversary of Marvin Gaye’s seminal 1971 album What’s Going On, Universal Music Enterprises is coordinating a series of new vinyl releases that includes the next instalment in the label’s special reissue rollout: the seven-album box set Marvin Gaye Volume 3: 1971-1981.
The May 27 release includes the final seven studio albums that Gaye recorded for Motown subsidiary Tamla Records: What’s Going On, Trouble Man (1972), Let’s Get It On (1973), Diana & Marvin (1973), I Want You (1976), double-album Here, My Dear(1978) and In Our Lifetime (1981).
Four of the albums in the box set -- Let’s Get It On, Diana & Marvin, Here, My Dear and In Our Lifetime -- will also be available individually for the first time in several years. Additionally, a special What’s Going On 10-inch vinyl EP will be released June 24. It will be comprised of the original 7-inch mono single versions of the title track and “God Is Love” on one side (different from the later album versions). The other side will feature two “Motown: Re-Imagined” versions of the title song using only the original instrumentation. One will be a duet version with Motown newcomer BJ the Chicago Kid; the second will be an unplugged “Coffeehouse Mix.” The EP will also be released digitally.
The forthcoming Volume 3 box set was preceded last year by the seven-album set Marvin Gaye Volume 1: 1961-1965 and the eight-album Volume 2: 1966-1970.
R&B diva Miki Howard’s episode of Unsung on TV One was so compelling, it spurred the making of a TV movie: “Love Under New Management: The Miki Howard Story.”
The film will follow the tumultuous life story of Howard, who rose to fame in the 80s with hits such as “Love Under New Management,” “Come Share My Love” and “Baby Be Mine.”
The biopic will touch on her rocky relationship with her mother, her romantic relationship with R&B singer Gerald Levert, and her battle with drug addiction and suffering domestic violence.
Actress Teyonah Parris stars as Howard, while other cast members include Vanessa Bell Calloway as Miki’s mother, Josephine Howard, LisaRaye as famed record exec Sylvia Rhone, and Darius McCrary as Gerald Levert, and Gary Dourdan as Augie Johnson.
Howard aims to bring about the conversation regarding issues affecting black women. “We need to have a conversation about many of the things that happened to me as a young woman coming up in show business and being an African-American woman… I don’t think we talk about enough things that are prevalent in our community, such as spousal abuse and trying to live up to expectations that are not our own.”
“Love Under New Management” will air at 7 pm Sunday, June 12 on TV One, just in time for Black Music Month.

NEWS / When Bruce Springsteen calls you "one helluva guitar player," you must be doing something right. So it goes for Ana Popovic, the fiery female guitarist bringing a potent energy to the blues/funk rock style. Popovic has outdone herself on her newest release Trilogy, packing a punch into each of the twenty-five songs featured on the album.
Due out at the end of this week, Popovic has shared one of her glorious new tracks with us. "Making this video was as fun as making the entire album," she says. "'You Got The Love' is how I feel about Trilogy. I had such a great time making this record and I can't wait to share it with the world!"
Check out the video for "You Got The Love," below, exclusively via Live for Live Music.
Popovic speaks in-depth about Trilogy in the album insert, saying:
I like to step it up with every record that I make. I’m demanding. Towards the people I work with, but mostly towards myself.
I am not afraid to put myself on the line. It is important for an artist to push the limits. Kill your darlings. Dig a little deeper.
Making Trilogy was a quest on it’s own. Not to compare with any record I’ve ever done before. A musical-journey where I got to know sides of myself that I’ve only known in bits and pieces.
Throughout the long, intense process of putting together Trilogy, I was able to let my divergent musical sides crystallize.(merge??) It felt like a puzzle of pieces I recognized from years ago. Small ideas that would shine for a second and then disappear in the everyday worries of a touring musician. This time the pieces came together. I finally gave all those ‘Small ideas’ a good listen and a little of my time… Maybe more then ‘a little’… The first and the last days of recording Trilogy were exactly one year apart. 365 days. My first session was on March 4th, 2015, and can you imagine my surprise to find out that and the last session was on March 4th, 2016!
Sometimes you write a song that flowers the way you imagined it. The way you heard it in your head.
Some songs exceed all expectations, while other musical ideas are sadly lost. With Trilogy I gave each song the proper time to let it develop and fully mature. Each song is written to fit the specific genre and accomplished with musicians that are masters at that particular style of music. They allow my ideas to shine and become exactly what I imagined them to be. In order to achieve that, some songs were recorded several different times. Some songs were even recorded, several different times, in different studios, with different musicians so we where able to get the exact right musical chemistry to make Trilogy the best we could.
I am at this stage in my career that I can surround myself with musicians who are the best at what they do. I don’t ever take that for granted. Trilogy highlights their musicianship from start to finish.
Needless to say each and every one that collaborated on this record deserves my highest admiration. Thank you for backing me up and allowing Trilogy to get the wings that it deserved.

Moore’s E-Room studio in Toronto, the sessions were produced by Alec Fraser, one of the most respected roots producers/musicians on the scene today. With a fresh batch of newly written songs Lerman gathered some of his favourite musicians, booked the studio time and recorded for two days. With guitar in hand, he sang live while being backed by two different rhythm sections; Alec on bass with drummer Al Cross, and Fathead’s Omar Tunnoch with Bucky Berger. (Tunnoch, who also paints, contributed the artwork that was used for the front cover). Lance Anderson added some piano on a handful of tracks to round things out. The result is a vibrant recording catching some seasoned hands doing what they do best.
This 12-song set features all original material, save for a first take, kick-ass reworking of the delta blues classic “Kokomo”. The disc opens with the rollicking “Don’t Push Your Mess On Me”, a gospel tinged rocker helped along by Jana Reid’s powerful backing vocal. “It Takes Me All Night Long” is Lerman’s tongue-in- cheek take on aging as he sings “….to do the things I used to do all night long”. The Latin-tinged standout track “Bad Luck Blues” grooves wonderfully as he recounts the events of an infamous bank robbery that happened long ago in the tiny village of Havelock, Ontario where he now makes his home. Another standout track is the radio-friendly and catchy “Gonna Have To Wait” while “Tattoo Like You” explores a swampy, voodoo feel along with a touch of humour, while the title track instrumental “Slow Burn” highlights Lerman’s guitar and harp, getting low down and dirty.
“He is unique”, says producer Alec Fraser. “Every song is a big idea. Lerman sounds like Lerman. This album is a real gem.”

Reunites with esteemed slowhand producer Glyn Johns
Music legend Eric Clapton has reunited with famed producer Glyn Johns for his forthcoming 23rd studio album I Still Do, set for release on May 20, 2016. Clapton and Johns – who has also produced albums for The Eagles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and The Who – most famously worked together on Clapton’s iconic Slowhand album, which is RIAA-certified 3x-platinum and topped charts globally. The 12-track record includes some original songs written by Clapton. This album follows his last release, the 2014 chart-topping Eric Clapton & Friends: The Breeze, An Appreciation of JJ Cale.
“This was a long and overdue opportunity to work with Glyn Johns again, and also, incidentally, the fortieth anniversary of 'Slowhand'!” said Eric Clapton.
The album’s artwork – a carefully crafted illustration of Clapton – is the work of esteemed artist Sir Peter Blake, whose previous art includes the co-design of The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album sleeve, as well as the Band Aid single “Do They Know It’s Christmas?,” Paul Weller’s Stanley Road and The Who’s Face Dances. I Still Do features Blake’s signature at the bottom right corner of the cover.
After his time with the Yardbirds in 1963, Clapton began a career as a professional musician that has seen numerous bands, an abundance of albums, countless worldwide sold out shows, an impressive array of accolades, unwavering critical acclaim and his consistent display of legendary guitar work. Clapton’s career, has resulted in 18 Grammy Awards and the distinct honor of being the only triple inductee into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
