There’s a lot going on in Janet Jackson’s life right now: she’s divorcing her soon-to-be-ex-husband Wissam Al Mana, she just had a baby in January at the age of 50, and she’s planning a world tour to start in September.
Her life seems good enough for a documentary, don’t you think? Well reports are she’s planning just that: word on the street is that Janet is in talks with Netflix to document all of the happenings of her busy life. According to Hollywood.com and British newspaper The Sun, Jackson and Netflix are looking to strike a deal on a 10-part series that will give viewers a “fly-on-the-wall” look into her life.
A source says:
“Janet has been fiercely private about her life in the past but feels the need to keep her fans in the loop with what life has been like since she went into hiatus 10 years ago,” a source told The Sun.
“The show will run as a 10-part documentary and will feature recording sessions in the studio, co-parenting her child with Wissam and preparing for the European and Asian legs of her tour.
“Netflix are negotiating a big sum for the rights to the show as they expect it to perform well.”
Janet Jackson's estranged husband Wissam Al Mana appears to have shared a message of love to the singer online, dubbing her "the most beautiful person in the world".
The Rhythm Nation hitmaker hit headlines last weekend (08-09Apr17) when multiple reports suggested she had separated from the Qatari billionaire, just three months after welcoming their first child, son Eissa, in January (17).
The famously-private couple, which wed in 2012, has yet to officially address the speculation, but according to E! News, Wissam has since updated his website with a quote from the Quran, which seems to hint at the marriage split.
The post reads: "You shall most certainly be tried in your possessions and in your persons; and indeed you shall hear many hurtful things from those to whom revelation was granted before your time, as well as from those who have come to ascribe divinity to other beings beside Allah. But if you remain patient in adversity and conscious of Him - this, behold, is something to set one's heart upon. - 3:186."
Wissam's website also features a photo of Janet under the Love section, in which he gushed about the new mum.
"To the most beautiful person in the world, thank you for your divine love, your eternal support and for being my best friend," reads the accompanying caption. "I love you so much, inshallah (if Allah wills it) we will be together in the Great Forever x".
The news emerges days after professional movers were photographed outside the pair's marital home in London.
Reports suggest both Wissam, 42, and Janet, 50, will continue to use the British capital as their base and work together to raise little Eissa.
The marriage was Janet's third - she was previously also wed to James DeBarge and Rene Elizondo, Jr.
Janet Jackson has split from her multi-millionaire husband just months after giving birth to her first child at the age of 50, sources close to the singer told the Daily Mail on Sunday last night.
The pop-star sister of the late Michael Jackson wed Qatari businessman Wissam Al Mana in 2012 and their son, Eissa, was born on January 3.
Her recent retreat from the limelight - and the postponement of her Unbreakableworld tour last year involving 36 gruelling stadium shows - had been put down to contentment with her marriage.
But last night, a close friend of Jackson told The Mail on Sunday: "Sadly, Janet and Wissam have decided that it wasn't working and to go their separate ways.
"They're both busy people but determined to be good parents, even if they're apart. It's amicable and Eissa will stay with his mother, who is basing herself in London."
Last week, a leading entertainment website claimed Al Mana had helped three-times-married Jackson settle down as she traded fame for a role as a devoted mother and wife.
But yesterday that appeared to have been a somewhat premature prediction.
A divorce settlement could be complex and costly as 42-year-old Al Mana, CEO of the multinational Al Mana business conglomerate, is estimated to have a fortune of around £800 million - at least four times Jackson's net worth.
When the couple married, there was much speculation, never confirmed, that Jackson had converted to Islam, fuelled by her appearance in a head scarf.
There were rumours of a split within days of her son's birth, when she was seen in public without a wedding ring but these were discounted at the time.
The singer was briefly married to singer James DeBarge in 1984 but the pair split the following year and the marriage was later annulled.
Her second husband was Mexican back-up dancer Rene Elizondo.
The couple wed in 1991 but divorced in 2000, with Jackson paying him a reported $10 million (NZ$14.4m).
In court papers filed as part of their divorce, Elizondo claimed she was paranoid about privacy and pretended the couple were boyfriend and girlfriend throughout their marriage "because she wanted me out of the limelight".
He said she refused to give him songwriting credits on her Rhythm Nation album "because my involvement had to be kept secret to protect her image".
Jackson has claimed that their marriage was destroyed by his alleged addiction to prescription drugs.
In an interview after the end of her second marriage, the singer spoke about her conviction she might be "unlucky" in love.
"I thought I was jinxed," she said. "Maybe marriage isn't for me? Maybe it's my fault it never works.
"I was always faithful. When it was over, I put up shields to protect myself from being hurt."
It was reported she gained up to 100lbs (7 stone) during her pregnancy.
Pop star and husband are ‘thrilled’ to welcome their son Eissa, according to statement released on Tuesday.
Janet Jackson and her husband, Wissam Al Mana, welcomed their son, Eissa, on Tuesday, a representative for the singer has said.
“Janet had a stress-free, healthy delivery and is resting comfortably. No further details are available at this time,” the statement read.
The 50-year-old pop star postponed a tour following the release of her 2015 album Unbreakable in order to plan a family. Jackson posted a video on social media at the time, telling fans that she was taking a break from performing live because “there’s been a sudden change” – which triggered false rumours about the musician’s health.
Eissa Al Mana is the singer’s first child. Jackson and Wissam Al Mana married in 2012. A statement said the musician and the Qatari businessman were “thrilled” to welcome their son.
NEWS / Last month, 49-year-old Janet Jackson announced that she would be putting her “Unbreakable World Tour” on hold to start a family with billionaire husband Wissam Al Mana.
Now, a source tells Entertainment Tonight exclusively that the singer is in fact pregnant, and just a few days before Mother’s Day!
Jackson will turn 50 on May 16th, and this will be both her and Al Mana’s first child.
“We’re in the second leg of the tour and there actually has been a sudden change,” Jackson said in the video message from last month.“I thought it was important that you be the first to know. My husband and I are planning our family, so I’m going to have to delay the tour Please, if you could try and understand that it’s important that I do this now. I have to rest up, doctor’s orders. But I have not forgotten about you. I will continue the tour as soon as I possibly can,” she said.
The Jackson family continues to grow! Congrats!

NEWS / Less than three months after postponing numerous Unbreakable Tour dates to undergo surgery, Janet Jackson has reportedly canceled those rescheduled European tour dates.
"It is not possible to confirm new date at the present time so we are refunding all ticket holders," an email from Ticketmaster informed fans who had purchased tickets to her U.K. and other European shows, according to Spin.
Jackson's European tour dates have been removed from Ticketmaster's site. Billboard reached out to Jackson's rep for comment and did not hear back at time of publishing.

NEWS / It has been reported that superstar Janet Jackson is currently undergoing tests for throat cancer.
The report comes after the 49-year-old singer revealed that she had no choice but to postpone the first dates of the next leg of her ‘Unbreakable World Tour’, which was due to kick off on January 9th, as she needed to undergo surgery.
It is now being claimed that doctors have discovered a tumour on her vocal chords.
A source revealed: “Doctors found a growth on Janet’s vocal chords that could be serious
“It’s a medical condition that has to be taken care of immediately.”
In spite of the very serious health scare, Janet is said to be optimistic about hitting the road later on in the year, with the insider adding to RadarOnline: “Janet said she knows that with prayers and her will, she’ll be back out on the road in the spring or early summer.”
Janet previously postponed shows in October in order to rest her voice, and doctors have now sadly warned that if she is battling cancer then she might be left unable to sing.
Speaking to the site, Dr. Stuart Fischer explained: “God forbid that this should be cancer of the larynx. That would abruptly end her ability to ever perform again. Singing would be impossible.
“Surgery would be very complex, and followed by months of radiation treatment.”
Janet tried to remain upbeat as she posted a statement explaining why she had to postpone her tour on her website, writing: “Hey you guys…Happy Holidays to each and every one of you!
“I need you to know, I learned today, from my doctors that I must have surgery soon. It breaks my heart to tell you that I am forced to postpone the ‘Unbreakable Tour’ until the spring.
“Please pray for me, my family and our entire company during this difficult time…There will be no further comment.”
