Lady Gaga’s carrière werd o.a. bekroond met een Grammy Award, een Golden Globe en een Academy Award-nominatie.
Lady Gaga's visual director has promised her headline set at Coachella will be full of surprises.
The Born This Way hitmaker was drafted in to replace Beyonce as the Saturday (15Apr17) headliner at the Californian festival back in February. Beyonce had been scheduled to perform but pulled out after announcing she is expecting twins with husband Jay Z.
Gaga is taking her headliner duties seriously, and has been in rehearsals "pretty much every day" since agreeing to play the festival, her long-time choreographer and visual director Richy Jackson revealed.
"We had to get in those creative meetings quick, we had to start thinking faster because we don’t have a lot of time to put together a show where she’s headlining Coachella - this was sort of out of nowhere because we all thought Beyonce was going to be doing it," he told Entertainment Weekly.
And Jackson revealed that Gaga is "up for anything" for her headline set, but refused to divulge any more information about her highly anticipated performance.
"Well, you know, there's always a 'wow' with Gaga at some point That's all I can say," he teased. "There's always something.
"For the crowd at Coachella, they are there for so many different reasons, so as far as our show, what I can tell you, it is going to be high energy, we are going to play with some of her various genres she has within her as an artist and figure out a way to allocate those things throughout the show, and take some risks and some chances and have a good time, because we’re out there at Coachella."
The 31-year-old singer is the first woman to headline the festival since Bjork in 2007, and will return to the festival next Saturday (22Apr17) for her second headline set at the two weekend festival.
Lady Gaga gaat een nummer van Amy Winehouse coveren. De opbrengst gaat naar de stichting van de overleden Winehouse. Dat schrijft The Sun.
Lady Gaga has been selected to be the godmother of her childhood friend's baby.
The popstar has taken to social media to share that her friend Brian Newman and his wife Angie had chosen her to be the godmother to their daughter Sistilia, and went on to post several photos of the baby's baptism.
To celebrate the occasion, Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, shared a sweet black and white photo of her holding the baby, who was dressed in a traditional white dress. The Applause singer shunned her typical avant-garde outfits and went for a more conservative look, wearing a white button-up shirt with white baby’s breath flowers in her hair.
"So proud to be made one of the Godmother's of our little angel Sistilia," she captioned the snap on Instagram. "@briannewmanny and his Wife Angie have been my friends since we were kids on the lower east side. It was a beautiful baptism and Italian style feast. We love u sissy!"
The New York native also shared a photo of her with her father Joe Germanotta, Jr. and some friends, presumably taken at the dinner following the baptism ceremony. Gaga appeared to be in good spirits, despite confirming that she had split from her fiance Taylor Kinney last week (ends24Jul16).
"The boys are back in town," she captioned the snap. "love that my daddy hangs out w(ith) my crew. Or that I hang out w(ith) his...I'm not sure anymore (sic)!"
And it seems that little Sistilia is in good hands with Gaga as the multi-talented performer is said to take her role as a godmother very seriously. The 30-year-old already serves in the role for Elton John and husband David Furnish's two sons, Zachary, five, and Elijah, three, with Elton revealing in February (16) that Gaga takes a hands-on approach with the boys.
"She buys them presents on their birthdays and at Christmas, but more than anything, she's a good godmother," Elton gushed on U.S. daytime show The Talk. "She comes and she bathes them, and she sings to them, and she tells them stories, which is the best thing of all; it's the personal thing..." (Bron: Music-News)
Newbie driver Lady Gaga was pulled over by police for a traffic violation just weeks after she finally received her driver's licence.
Earlier this month (1Jul16) the 30-year-old Poker Face singer took to her Instagram profile to inform fans she had passed her driving test, writing in a caption attached to a picture of herself behind the wheel of her old school red truck with a friend sitting in the passenger seat: "Thelma and Puhleaaaze (And yes I FINALLY got my license after years of driving with an adult present and a learners permit). I’M FREE. Rollin with the homies."
Although initially delighted by achieving the milestone, on Friday (15Jul16) Gaga got a taste of the bad side of being on the road after being stopped by a traffic cop on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, California.
TMZ obtained photos of her conversing with an officer on the side of the road, with the cop looking at paperwork, presumably her licence and registration, while he stands next to the driver's side of her vehicle as she speaks to him through her rolled down window.
No details about the potential moving violation have been revealed, and it is unclear whether she received a ticket for any minor offence.
But the incident seems to have been insignificant, as Gaga had her attention on a larger tragedy just hours after being pulled over.
The pop star took to her Twitter account to acknowledge the tragic attack in Nice, France that took place on the country's national holiday Bastille Day (14Jul16), with the star tweeting to followers: "I am praying for you France. When u open your eyes and see chaos, we will close our eyes and see harmony. We are with you. Praying for the the losses of life in this country & around the world , I pray for the victims families who see no justice. We are one." (Bron: Music-News)
(Bron: Belga)
NEWS / The 29-year-old pop star made her small screen debut last year (15) in American Horror Story: Hotel and she was so impressive as character The Countess, the Applause singer earned a Golden Globe Award for her performance.
And during an interview with New York radio station Z100, Gaga simply answered "yes" when asked if she is returning to the cast for the show's forthcoming sixth season.
"I can't promise you how or when or anything like that," she added, remaining tight-lipped on any further details.
The news emerges five months after American Horror Story creator and producer Ryan Murphy revealed he'd be delighted to work with Gaga again.
"Lady Gaga is so brilliant in AHS Season 5 that yesterday I officially asked her to join Season 6," he wrote on Twitter in October (15). "Say yes @ladygaga!"
The respect is mutual, as the singer-turned-actress referred to Ryan as her "creative soul mate" last year (15).
Details surrounding the plot of American Horror Story season six have yet to be revealed, but Ryan did provide some clues as to what fans can expect during a previous interview with Entertainment Weekly.
"The next thing we're crafting up is very, very different than this (American Horror Story: Hotel)," he told the outlet. "Not smaller. But just not opulent. More rogue and more dark."
While speaking at the Television Critics Association press tour in Pasadena, California in January (16), FX network president John Landgraf also revealed the next instalment of the anthology series will be "principally set in the present".
Gaga is not the only castmate returning for season six, as actress Angela Bassett also recently confirmed she will remain a part of the ensemble. (Bron: Music-News)
NEWS / Lady Gaga, who was already booked to make an appearance at the Grammys, will now be paying tribute to David Bowie at the awards show. Chic's Nile Rodgers, who produced Bowie's Let's Dance LP, will serve as music director for the performance. Producer Ken Ehrlich told The New York Times that he opened a dialog with the singer and her manager shortly after the singer-songwriter’s death last month. The ceremony will air live on CBS on February 15th.
The producer said he'd received offers from several artists who wished to honor Bowie's memory, after the news spread. "Some of [them] might have made sense," he said, not revealing who offered. "The vast majority didn't."
Instead, Ehrlich stuck to his idea of a solo performance by Gaga, who is nominated this year with Diane Warren in the Best Song Written for Visual Media category for "'Til It Happens to You." "She's perfect for it," the producer said in a statement. "So I reached out to Nile and, before long, we were on our way to creating what we believe will not only make a great 'Grammy moment,' but one befitting of David."
Ehrlich told the Times that the tribute would not be the opening performance, but that it would last up to seven minutes and comprise "at least three or four" Bowie songs. The producer hoped the tribute would pay homage not just to Bowie's music but also to his influence on fashion and pop culture.
The official language promoting the tribute promises "a multisensory testament to [Bowie's] incredible artistry" and "a chance to experience Bowie's music once again."
"I always felt that [Bowie's] glamour was something he was using to express a message to people that was very healing for their souls," Lady Gaga recently told The Hollywood Reporter. "He is a true, true artist and I don't know if I ever went, 'Oh, I'm going to be that way like this,' or if I arrived upon it slowly, realizing it was my calling and that's what drew me to him."
The Grammys will also feature a tribute to B.B. King, who dies last May, and Ehrlich told the Times he hoped to pay homage to the Eagles' Glenn Frey, who passed away last month.
LL Cool J will host the ceremony, which will also feature performances by several other pop stars. Adele, the Weeknd, Kendrick Lamar, Ellie Goulding, Sam Hunt and Carrie Underwood are just a few of the artists who will sing at the show. The show will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. (Bron: Rollingstone.com)
NEWS / Lady Gaga is teaming up with Sir Elton John to work on new music together this week (beg18Jan16).
The pop superstar is currently recording tracks for her next album, the follow-up to her 2013 release Artpop, and has already hit the studio with Mark Ronson to produce a collaboration.
It has now emerged she is also lining up her longtime friend Sir Elton for songwriting sessions, and they planned to work together this week.
The Rocket Man star let slip the news on Tuesday (19Jan16) during an interview with DJ Zane Lowe on his Beats 1 show, explaining, "I'm writing with Gaga tomorrow."
Sir Elton also revealed he is a big fan of Gaga's new music, adding, "I've heard two songs, which are killer. They're just great songs. It's like back to the early stuff of hers - like You and I and... Bad Romance... They're not complex... They're not complex arrangements, but they are great songs. It's all about the song."
He admitted Gaga made "bad creative (decisions)" with Artpop, but he still thinks she is a good songwriter.
"Artpop was not a great idea," he added. "It was not a good album and I think she would admit that... I think she's a great writer. To me, she is (real name) Stefani Germanotta and I love her and I care about her - she's godmother to my two children. And I want her to go and make a kind of simple, fabulous, great song record. Maybe like (Carole King album) Tapestry, but her version."
Gaga recently credited Sir Elton with helping her deal with the fallout from Artpop, which received mixed reviews and suffered a large drop in sales after its first week of release, prompting some critics to deem the album a failure.
She also lavished praise on Tony Bennett, who helped her recover by recording a duets album, Cheek To Cheek, with her.
"There is nobody more bada** than Tony Bennett," she told Billboard magazine. "That man is a part of the history of music in a way that is extremely powerful, and he taught me to stay true to who I am, to not let anybody exploit me.
"He is responsible in so many ways for making me happy, and I can say the same for Elton. When the whole industry turned their back on me during Artpop, they were the ones who said, 'Hey, this is a blip. It's going to go away'." (Bron: Music-News)
NEWS / Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney have put their love on full display by posing naked on the cover of V magazine after having sex on a paint canvas.
The American Horror Story: Hotel star and Kinney are completely nude and covered in paint as she embraces her fiance from behind, in post-coital selfie taken by the actor.
The new issue of the publication will feature 16 different covers and proceeds from the $50 (£33) magazine will benefit Gaga's Born This Way Foundation.
Gaga, who served as guest editor, explains she came up with the concept for the feature after asking her beau to work with her on a project to raise awareness for mental illness.
"Since we first met, Taylor's been drawing and painting all over me," she writes in her guest editor's letter for the magazine.
"Years ago, when we were secretly living in San Diego and crashing on the floor of a beach shack, we never wore shoes. He told me he wanted to make love to me on a canvas."
"I asked (Taylor) to collaborate with me on a project to raise money and awareness about mental illness, (and) he immediately brought my attention back to this idea," she continues.
"We made love on the canvas on a Sunday in Chicago," she adds. "We made love amidst chaos. We talked about shootings. We made love amidst terrorism. And we talked about how people's hearts are also suffering all over the world as they watch and witness a swell of violence. We made love amidst violence."
The result of their tryst is a colourful abstract painting.
"During tumultuous times, we hope everyone in the world will see this and be reminded to love each other wildly, generously, totally, colorfully, without fear and with compassionate hearts," Gaga writes. "We made a galaxy of endless colors with only brief, black holes of emptiness that are then filled by each other."
In addition to the couple's magazine charity project, the 29-year-old has teamed up with bosses at Intel, Vox Media and Re/code for a campaign to combat online harassment. The new initiative, titled Hack Harassment, will aim to advance anti-harassment technology.
"Young people are spending more time online than ever before, making it more important than ever before to face this problem head on," Gaga's mother, Cynthia Germanotta, says.
"Online harassment has become a pervasive and often vicious problem with real-life repercussions," Intel CEO Brian Krzanich adds. "Today's tech and media leaders have a collective responsibility and capability to identify solutions that can help reduce different forms of online harassment. We need to remember that behind every device, game, sensor or network is a real person with real feelings and real needs for safety." (Bron: Music-News)
