Good Friday – 25 March 2016 is a date that will go down in Cuban and Rock ‘n’ Roll history. On that date, The Rolling Stones became the first rock band to play a massive free outdoor concert to hundreds of thousands in Havana, Cuba. The historic concert was filmed by award winning director Paul Dugdale and the result is a must see one night only cinema experience – ‘HAVANA MOON’ - The Rolling Stones Live in Cuba will be premiered on cinema screens across the globe for one night only on Friday 23 September 2016.
Musicscreen, who specialize in bringing music concerts to cinema, are distributing this film to more than thousand screens throughout Europe, Australia, Russia, Japan and Latin America. CEO David Pope commented: “The Havana Moon cinema experience immerses the audience in fantastic surround sound with super high definition visuals, it is the closest you will get to being there, don’t miss it!”
Tickets will go on sale at the beginning of August available from www.stonesincuba.com.
Mick Jagger said: “The Cuba show was simply amazing. It was an incredible moment; a huge sea of people for as far as the eye could see. You could feel the buzz of the enthusiasm from the crowd and that was for me the stand out moment.”
Keith Richards said: “There’s the sun the moon the stars and The Rolling Stones. Seeing Cuba finally get the chance to rock out was special .. A night to remember in Havana..”
The British rockers highly anticipated free show attracted a million people in the country's capital city in the same week as President Obama became the first serving US President to visit Cuba in 88 years. TV News reported that Obama was ‘the warm up act’ for the Rolling Stones and Obama paid tribute to the Stones in his first speech to the world’s media in Havana. As the Stones took to the stage under a perfect ‘Havana Moon’ for a show that will forever go down in history books as a life changing moment for a country on the brink of change, there was nothing that was going to come between the band and their fans including the Vatican in Rome who had objected to rock n roll in Havana on Good Friday.
Mick Jagger welcomed the massive crowd who had come to watch the historic show: “Finally the times are changing, Cuba we are so happy to be here." and joked with his bandmates during the performance describing them as "The Revolutionary Ronnie Wood…Charlie Che Watts….Compadre Keith Richards"
They played all the hits including ‘Jumpin’ Jack Flash’, ‘It’s Only Rock ‘n’ Roll’, ‘Paint It Black’, ‘Honky Tonk Women’, ‘Start Me Up’, ‘Brown Sugar’, You Can’t Always Get What You Want’ and ‘(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction’ and a few suprises too.
As one Cuban said, “Wow never, ever, ever did I think we would see this. This has been a big dream for me. We want more, more, more of this. This is the beginning. Fantastico"
Another concert goer said: “This is a moment I have been dreaming about for a really long time. I have just witnessed the most important concert in Cuba in a long time because it’s The Rolling Stones.”
Now, the magic and excitement of that historic night can be enjoyed as part of a cinema audience - in surround sound and on the big screen - for one night only at an exclusive cinema event on 23 September.

EAGLE ROCK ENTERTAINMENT PROUDLY PRESENTS - THE ROLLING STONES: TOTALLY STRIPPED~PRESENTED ON MULTIPLE FORMATS~~JUNE 3, 2016~
NEWS / On June 3, Eagle Rock Entertainment will proudly release Totally Stripped by The Rolling Stones. One of the most anticipated releases in recent years, this collection features The Rolling Stones going back to the source of many of their favorite tracks, creating new stripped back versions. Selected material from studio sessions and shows presented here formed the Stripped album of 1995.
Totally Stripped is available as a DVD or SD Blu-ray containing the newly-revised documentary of the same name, or on DVD+CD or DVD+LP featuring the documentary and single CD / 2LPs compiled from live shows. Additionally a DVD or SD Blu-ray deluxe edition is available, packaged with a 60 page hard book set containing 5 discs which boasts hours of previously unavailable music (three complete shows made available for the first time ever) from this truly legendary act.
These reimagined versions lose none of their impact and emotional heft, and in fact connect with listeners in a different way. Totally Stripped itself is a brand new version of the documentary of the same name, which tells the stories of the two studio sessions and three live shows (The Paradiso in Amsterdam in May 1995, L’Olympia in Paris and Brixton Academy in London in July 1995) that make up this project. The Deluxe Edition contains a CD of favorites drawn from across the live shows and three DVDs featuring, for the first time, ever each of those shows in full.
Following the ‘Voodoo Lounge’ tour, The Stones released Stripped, an album of reconsidered, pared back renderings of some classic Stones tracks, and also a couple of carefully chosen covers. The album mixed new studio versions of tracks with some live songs. The tracks that made up Stripped were taken from two studio sessions that took place in Tokyo [March 3-5, 1995] and in Lisbon [July 23-26], and a trio of live shows in July 1995 at small concert venues in London, Paris and Amsterdam. Keith Richards commented, “There’s something about playing these small venues, the immediacy of it. Also we can keep God out the band, because on big gigs he sometimes turns up as rain or wind”.
As Mick Jagger said at the time, the aim was to “Take the best element from [MTV] ‘Unplugged’, the intimate thing of it, without actually doing it completely unplugged”. This collection is built on the power of lyric and melody, and the material here feels somehow simpler yet potent, as the songs stand on their individual timeless quality rather than on the production techniques and technical expertise that generally come as part and parcel of being the biggest band in the world.
Totally Stripped is the release that the fans have been waiting years for, a document that reveals the inner workings not only of The Rolling Stones themselves but also indeed those some of their most loved tracks. Revealing, intimate and moving, Totally Stripped is unmissable.

(Bron: Belga)
NEWS / The Rolling Stones are under 24-hour armed guard after a worker at one of their shows in Argentina was shot dead, according to a report.
Sir Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood, and Charlie Watts are being escorted around Buenos Aires with military-style security after 55-year-old contractor Pedro Luis Tabares was killed in a botched robbery after the gig at the La Plata stadium on Thursday (11Feb16), editors at the U.K.'s Daily Mirror newspaper claim.
Tabares was leaving with his colleagues after the concert and was shot dead as a gang tried to ambush them in an effort to steal the stadium's drinks takings. A 31-year-old Colombian man, named locally as John Alexander Bobadilla Vega, was later arrested.
The veteran rockers, who are playing across South America on their America Latina Ole tour, are now allegedly taking no chances with their safety and are travelling in separate cars with armed guards surrounding their hotel.
The band performed their final show at the La Plata stadium on Saturday night (13Feb16), before travelling to Brazil, Uruguay, Peru and Colombia.
A source told the newspaper, "Wealthy personalities are always potential targets, but the band are kept safe and secure at all times by the best security personnel on the planet."
The rockers have yet to comment on the report of the contractor's death, but did thank their Argentinean fans on Twitter.com after they played their final gig in the country. Alongside a photo of the setlist, they wrote, "Muchas gracias Argentina! #StonesArgentina". (Bron: Music-News)
(Bron: DeMorgen)
