Golden Retriever release new track, the emotionally arresting "Sunsight" from their forthcoming album Rotations out July 28th, 2017
“Terry Riley-influenced long form synth and [clarinet] studies shouldn’t rightly sound this engulfing and gorgeous, but Golden Retriever have managed it without even a hint of the expected stuffiness.” - FACT
"A great synth record with the energy of experimental rock and the interplay of jazz; a mix of dissonance and resolution, the Earthly and the cosmic."
- Rolling Stone
"Like a gradually dawning revelation that is too beautiful for words."
- The Stranger
With new album Rotations out on July 28th this year, Portland's leading electronic heartbreakers Golden Retriever have unveiled the stunning, introspective first single "Sunsight".
As Golden Retriever, Matt Carlson and Jonathan Sielaff have explored an ocean’s worth of sound. Primarily working with the intersection of modular synthesis and amplified/effected bass clarinet, the duo combines an intense emotional immediacy and meditative focus with strong melodicism and an organic, naturalistic approach to experimental electronic sound.
Rotations features the duo expanding their sonic palette to incorporate a full chamber ensemble. As "Sunsight"'s haunting, wistful strings prove, the results of this stunning collaboration are meditative, lush, and altogether emotionally arresting.
