Tour follows the release of intrepid new album 'What One Becomes' and sold out remix 12" 'Before You I Appear'
"SUMAC are pushing metal in a direction so uncomfortable it may cease to be metal, into an openness that isn't about saying “F**K YOU!” the loudest." - Pitchfork
“Their scope seems limitless.” - Rolling Stone
"Where Nails approach the avant-garde through production, SUMAC find ways to play beyond guitar band tropes, stretching their technique throughout the record." - The Quietus
The highly-lauded powerhouse trio
SUMAC will be tearing up Europe's soundsystems
through April and May
Released via Thrill Jockey in June 2016, SUMAC's seminal second album What One Becomes saw Aaron Turner (Isis, Old Man Gloom, Mamiffer), Brian Cook (Russian Circles, These Arms Are Snakes, Botch), and Nick Yacyshyn (Baptists) elevate their songs’ complexities with a greater entanglement of velocity, density, form, and function.
A collection of remixes - Before You I Appear - followed in December 2016. Featuring original remixes from the likes of Samuel Kerridge, Bleed Turquoise (aka James Ginzburg of Emptyset), Kevin Drumm and Japan’s ENDON, Before You I Appear's beautifully bent reworkings combine impossibly dense psych-noise blowouts, subdued passages of subtly curdled drones, and disembodied vocal excretions, presenting SUMAC in new lights as yet unimagined.
All Thrill Jockey copies of this exclusive 12" sold out on presale, but the band have set aside a very limited quantity to sell on this tour. Not to be missed!
With artistic momentum and critical acclaim powering them forward, don't miss the chance to catch SUMAC as they tour Europe this April and May!
