blues singer/songwriter & harmonica player Tracy K is out now and is already getting great reviews and airplay from around the world.
What the critics are saying about What's The Rush?
“A proponent of the Winnipeg music scene, this hard driver has no aspirations to be Janis or Bonnie Raitt, she’s simply a blues-rocking babe that knows how to bring the awards home…there’s nothing to stop her from tearing the roof off the barn and honing her racket as loud and proud as she wants.” - The Midwest Record
“With some browsing through the Canadian blues scene, we already know that we are dealing with an extremely strong musician… A voice that can make it rock but also very soulful.” - Rootsville
“…a powerful and rich vocalist and a harmonica player of the highest order… Navigating between folk blues, pure juicy blues and blues that is tinged with pop, Tracy K pulls no punches.” - Zicazine
About Tracy K
With a voice that at once captures your attention, Winnipeg, Manitoba’s Tracy K has indelibly stamped her versatility on the Canadian blues/roots scene and is well known for her incredible vocals and masterful harmonica playing, she’s shared stages with today's A-list of international blues performers across the land and has been featured as a solo performer with an impressive roster of supporting casts from tribute troupes to orchestras. Among her personal reinventions is her contemporary blues band, wherein Tracy K kicks it up a notch with amplified harmonica and tests the limits of her throaty rasp inspired by vocal benchmarks Bonnie Raitt and Koko Taylor.
Tracy K has released her fourth album What’s The Rush? featuring a veritable ‘who’s who’ of the Winnipeg music scene. With seven original tracks and a cover of a Randy Newman song, the album showcases Tracy’s prowess as a triple-threat songwriter, vocalist, and harmonica player.
A long time in the works, What’s The Rush? marks the return of one of Canada’s premier blues artists. “This project began a long time ago but really, what’s the rush? I started recording some recent originals in 2015 at Winnipeg's award winning Bedside Studios with Len Milne, owner, engineer, and producer. The magic began, and eventually what had started out as a demo, morphed into an EP, and grew into an album”, Tracy says. “Winnipeg has a stellar artistic community, and there are some fantastic players on this album. I am honoured that these respected musicians shared their talent.”
