Irene Nachreiner zingt al jaren in de vakantieressorts van Club Med, nadat ze in zo’n ressort op Bora Bora opgemerkt werd wegens haar stem in een karaoke bar. Nu is ze teruggekeerd om haar tweede cd op te nemen. Die bevat zachte Latin jazz en Braziliaanse samba, en past zeer goed in een cocktailbar. Irene zingt in het Engels, het Frans, het Spaans, en in het Portugees. Ze brengt alleen maar covers, o.a. ‘Sway’, ‘Summer Samba (So Nice)’, ‘Whatever Lola Wants’, ‘Bésame Mucho’, ‘One Note Samba’ ‘My Heart Belongs To Daddy’ (Cole Porter) en Let’s Face The Music And Dance’. Je gaat zowaar meedeinen met deze sensuele muziek op een terrasje in de ondergaande zon… Irene wordt begeleid door een internationale band: Gitarist Marco Tulio komt uit Brazilië, bassist Daniel Groisman komt uit Argentinië, percussionist Cristiano Novelli komt ook uit Brazilië, fluitist en saxofonist Scott Martin zat voorheen in de Poncho Sanchez Band en won al een Grammy Award, fluitist Brice Martin komt uit L.A., en pianist Ron Snyder komt uit het jazzcabaretcircuit. Dit is hun eerste release samen. Irene zegt erover: ”This project was truly a leap of faith on my part. Totally by chance I met Daniel Groisman, a terrific bass player from Argentina. He introduced me to Cristiano Novelli an extremely talented percussionist from Rio de Janeiro and also to Marco Tulio, a wonderful award winning guitarist from Brazil. I decided that I needed to work with them, so I set up some studio time and we recorded three songs. Not content to stop there, we continued to record songs and now a year and half later we have a complete album with fourteen songs. Along the way I met Scott Martin, a Grammy Award winning saxophone and flute player who was gracious enough to join us on four songs. Eventually we were joined on piano by the fabulous Ron Snyder, on keyboards by Alex Varden, and Brice Martin, also on flute.” Ik zou alleen tegen Irene willen zeggen: je mag best wat meer expressie in je zang inlassen.
