Met ‘Pocketful Of Hearts’ sluit ‘Phantom Rockers’ de serie af. Het album bevat andermaal dertig nummers, waaronder één niet eerder uitgebracht acetaatnummer en probeert de essentiële, maar vaak onbekende bijdragen van artiesten te belichten; of het nu gaat om artiesten die onder hun eigen naam optreden, studiomuzikanten of artiesten die een pseudoniem gebruiken. Bovendien werden veel van deze muzikanten later zelf bekende artiesten.
De reden waarom de reeds bekende namen onder een pseudoniem opnamen, was soms te zoeken in het feit dat zij nog elders onder contract stonden of schuchter een solocarrière ambieerden.
Ook op dit volume staan weer 30 adembenemende tracks te schitteren en net zoals op de vorige volumes, krijg je ook nu weer, zoals reeds aangegeven, een nooit eerder uitgebrachte acetaatopname. Die herbergt ook de titeltrack van deze compilatie en komt van een emotioneel klinkende Fred Dexter, in het echte leven Sylvester Long Cross, eigenaar van Crest Records. ‘Pocketful Of Hearts’ werd trouwens in 1958 uitgebracht door Eddie Cochran, als keerzijde van ‘Jeannie, Jeannie, Jeannie’. Een heerlijke rocker is ‘Pretty Baby (I Saw You Last Night)’ van The Vibes. De phantom rocker hier is zanger Ronnie Franklin. Hij werd later als David Gates lid van de groep Bread. Jericho Jones nam diverse aliassen aan. Onder deze naam is hij rockend te horen op ‘Save Your Lovin’ For Sis’. Als Johnny Blaine keert hij later nog terug met het door country beïnvloedde ‘Play That Song One More Time’. Geboren werd hij als Clifford Joseph Trahan.
Heerlijke samenzang presenteren The Dovells in ‘Bristo Stomp’ en een vleugje doo-wop kan je vinden in ‘Pretty Brown Eyes’ van Kenny Esquire & The Starlites.
Ook Hardrock Gunter nam onder diverse namen op. Een eerste maal hoor je hem als Sidney Jo Lewis in het met echo overgoten en speciale ‘Boppin’ To Grandfather’s Clock’. Als Hardrock Gunter komt hij aan bod met het rockende en rollende ‘Gonna Dance All Night’, inclusief een knappe piano.
Jerry Grant die in het rockabillynummer ‘Some Day, Maybe Tonight’ samen met The Rockabilly Bandits te horen is, is niemand minder dan leadzanger Dicky Doo van Dicky Doo & The Don’ts. Met die formatie is hij hier ook van de partij in ‘Wild Party’. Op het van Presley bekende ‘Heartbreak Hotel’ van Hank Smith & The Nashville Playboys en ‘Rock It’ van Thumper Jones, is de phantom rocker countrylegende George Jones, die met deze opnames als rocker meelifte op het succes van het genre.
Voor een streepje Afrikaanse percussie skip je naar het instrumentale ‘Rockin’ Bongos’ van Chaino, in het echte leven bongospeler Leon Johnson.
Malcolm John Rebennack, beter gekend als Dr. John is de phantom rocker op zowel ‘Bad Neighborhood’ van Ronnie & The Delinquents als op ‘Dangerous Redhead’ van Jerry Raines.
Knap vocaal werk komt er met ‘Tonight And Forever’ van The Whirlers, ‘Looking For Love’ van The Prestos en ‘Don’t Touch My Gal’ van The Empires. In al deze groepen stonden dezelfde vocalisten centraal.
In ‘Watch Me Do The Twist’ van Misty Bonner, meen je een zangeres te horen. Niet waar, want het is een perfect gecamoufleerde Bobby Lee Tramell.
De meeste bekende phantom rocker op Leslie Harris’ ‘Come On Little Sarah’, is Mickey Baker, die niet alleen gitarist van dienst was, maar tevens meeschreef aan het nummer.
Afsluiten doet het album met ‘South Of Chicago’ van Charlie Morgan. Het was de enige keer dat Charlie Feathers deze schuilnaam gebruikte.
Met ‘Pocketful Of Hearts’ heeft de serie ‘Phantom Rockers’ een waardige afsluiter. Wanneer je alle 5 volumes in deze serie bezit, ben je gegarandeerd op ontdekkingstocht in het rijk van de Phantom Rockers.

‘Phantom Rockers’ concludes the series with ‘Pocketful Of Hearts’. The album once again contains thirty tracks, including one previously unreleased acetate track, and attempts to highlight the essential but often unknown contributions of artists; whether performing under their own names, studio musicians, or artists using a pseudonym. Moreover, many of these musicians later became famous artists themselves.
The reason why the already well-known names recorded under a pseudonym was sometimes due to the fact that they were still under contract elsewhere or timidly aspired to a solo career.
This volume also features breathtaking tracks, and just like on the previous volumes, you get, as already indicated, a never-before-released acetate recording. This also contains the title track of this compilation and comes from an emotional-sounding Fred Dexter, in real life Sylvester Long Cross, owner of Crest Records. Incidentally, ‘Pocketful Of Hearts’ was released in 1958 by Eddie Cochran, as the B-side of ‘Jeannie, Jeannie, Jeannie’. ‘Pretty Baby (I Saw You Last Night)’ by The Vibes is a delightful rocker. Hardrock Gunter also recorded under various names. You hear him for the first time as Sidney Jo Lewis in the echo-drenched and special ‘Boppin’ To Grandfather’s Clock’. As Hardrock Gunter, he makes an appearance with the rocking and rolling ‘Gonna Dance All Night’, complete with a fine piano.
Jerry Grant, who can be heard with The Rockabilly Bandits in the rockabilly number ‘Some Day, Maybe Tonight’, is none other than lead singer Dicky Doo of Dicky Doo & The Don’ts. He is also present here with that lineup in ‘Wild Party’.
