Thee Holy Brothers (Marvin Etzioni and Willie Aron) to release mandolin arrangement of Black Sabbath's ‘Sweet Leaf’ on vinyl, compact disc and digital.

Regional Records and Tres Melo Musique are happy to announce the release of ‘Sweet Leaf’, the new single by Los Angeles-based duo Thee Holy Brothers consisting of Marvin Etzioni (Lone Justice) and Willie Aron (The Third Mind featuring Dave Alvin.) The song was originally written and recorded by Black Sabbath (Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward) and was featured as the opening track on their classic album Master Of Reality, released in 1971. This vinyl, compact disc and digital single also includes an alternate version of the title track from Thee Holy Brothers' critically acclaimed 2025 album High In My Balloon, making the release a "double A-side."

“When 'Master of Reality' came out, I was struck with the bold guitar sound on 'Sweet Leaf." Throughout the years, I've found very few people who shared my admiration for the early Sabbath albums produced by Roger Bain. See my friends, they all admire my favorite band of all time, The Kinks. I had an idea to record "Sweet Leaf" with mandolins and called my friend Don Heffington (Bob Dylan, Emmylou Harris, Lone Justice) to play drums. He'd never listened to Black Sabbath so it was really fun playing the song as if it was a new country song I'd just written. I held on to the recording and played it for Jonathan Lea who suggested turning it into a single by Thee Holy Brothers. I called Willie, by this time he was a Black Sabbath convert, and he was in. I hope you enjoy our version of 'Sweet Leaf.' Won't you listen?” Marvin Etzioni

"Black Sabbath are the Beatles of heavy metal; memorable songs, great production, and, thanks to guitarist Tony Iommi, one of the greatest guitar riff bands ever." Willie Aron

The ‘Sweet Leaf’ single art was designed by "Best Recording Package" Grammy nominee Jonathan Lea and renowned graphic designer Mark London (Brian Wilson Presents Smile) and is an homage to Black Sabbath's original Master Of Reality LP design. The seven-inch vinyl and CD packaging feature the iconic purple on black cover lettering, faux Warner Brothers Records 1970s style olive-green labels and a recreation of the poster included with the first pressing of Master Of Reality.
