Renowned Texas blues-rock guitarist and vocalist Ally Venable is set to release her highly anticipated new studio album, Money & Power, through Ruf Records on Friday, April 18, 2025. Rules are meant to be broken. Expectations exist to be defied. Glass ceilings are there to be shattered. For the past decade, Ally Venable has been fearlessly carving her own path in the male-dominated world of blues-rock. Now, with Money & Power, her bold and uncompromising sixth album, she raises the stakes—not just for herself, but for women everywhere and anyone who’s ever been told they don’t belong at the table. “Money & Power is such a strong statement, especially for women,” says the award-winning Texas guitarist and vocalist of her Nashville-recorded release, which features powerhouse collaborations with Shemekia Copeland and Christone "Kingfish" Ingram. “This album is about what it truly means to be a force to be reckoned with. I want this record to wake people up,” Ally declares. Money and power may drive the world, but in the right hands, music can be just as powerful. On the heels of 2023’s Real Gone—a critically acclaimed album that topped the Billboard Blues Chart and remained a contender a year later—Ally Venable has cemented her status as one of the finest young singer-songwriters in American roots music. Recognized by Total Guitar in its Top 100 Blues Guitarists list, she continues to turn heads with her electrifying presence and undeniable talent. “With her heels, sequins, and Les Paul growling on a leash, she’s one of Ruf’s most head-turning young artists,” praised Classic Rock magazine. “And while the instrumental prowess can be taken as read, Real Gone marks a growing maturity in the Texan’s songcraft.” By February 2024, with the dust barely settled from Real Gone, Ally was back in the studio, joining forces with producer and drummer Tom Hambridge at Nashville’s legendary Soundstage Studios. While the session musicians were A-list, the true stars of Money & Power are Ally’s fearless new songs. That attitude is undeniable from the opening track, Brown Liquor, a searing anthem punctuated by a blistering guest solo from Mississippi blues phenom Christone "Kingfish" Ingram. The soulful Maybe Someday follows, laced with horns and sharp lyrics aimed at a former love. Then comes the incendiary title track, where Ally’s guitar ignites alongside a defiant message. “Money & Power shouts to the masses,” she declares, “that women are not to be doubted in their ability to thrive in the world.” The album stays vital to the very last note. Stepping Stone roars with raw empowerment, Feel That Sting shimmers with a dark, tremolo-soaked groove, and Unbreakable—a dust-blown rocker—finds Ally trading verses with the powerhouse Shemekia Copeland. “That song spreads a message for women who have been oppressed,” she explains. “To rise to the occasion and break above it all.” Money & Power is a modern roots album that plays by its own rules and moves to its own rhythm—just like Ally herself. “I’m thrilled to release this album,” she says. “For me, it’s the sonic embodiment of a woman’s unstoppable ambition and showcases my musicality on all fronts. I can’t wait to see where this one takes me.” Tracks: 01. Brown Liquor ft. Christone Kingfish Ingram (3:49) 02. Maybe Some Day (3:19) 03. Money & Power (3:27) 04. Do You Cry (4:31) 05.
