Deeply rooted in the blues tradition yet unmistakably personal, the album highlights Robson's distinctive harmonica voice, ranging from powerful and expressive to delicate and nuanced, alongside his emotive vocal delivery. Robson is once again joined by acclaimed guitarist Manny Fizzotti, whose outstanding work on Seven Blues Classics earned widespread praise. On Nine Blues Originals, Fizzotti provides a beautifully understated acoustic foundation, rich in texture, rhythm and sensitivity. Robson also revisits two audience favourites from his earlier catalogue, "Your Dirty Look & Your Sneaky Grin" and "The G.R. Shuffle." Originally recorded with a full band, fans repeatedly requested that the intimate duo arrangements performed live be captured on record. Robson also pays tribute to two of his greatest musical inspirations: Memphis Slim and Joe Louis Walker. Inspired by Memphis Slim's "Boogin' and Bluesin'," Robson reimagines the theme as "Town to Town," drawing upon his experiences touring more than 18 countries annually and reflecting on memorable journeys through Chicago, Memphis and the Mississippi Delta. The album closes with a heartfelt instrumental tribute to Joe Louis Walker. Robson organised and performed on Walker's final tour before his passing in 2025. A close friend, mentor and profound influence, Walker once described Robson as a "musical brother" who had "created his own musical world."
