Ben Poole Returns with First Studio Album in Eight Years

After an eight-year wait, acclaimed British blues-rock guitarist Ben Poole is back with a new studio album that marks a bold new chapter in his career.

Post-Midnight Behaviour will be released on September 25 via Gypsy Soul Records, becoming Poole's first collection of original material since 2018's Time Has Come. The announcement arrives alongside the album's lead single, No Second Chances, released on July 3.

Having spent much of the past decade touring extensively across the UK, Europe and beyond, Poole says the new record reflects both his personal and musical evolution.

"I wanted this album to showcase my evolution as guitarist and singer-songwriter," Poole explains. "My guitar style and technique have developed, my singing voice has matured, and my influences have varied."

While rooted firmly in blues-rock, Post-Midnight Behaviour pushes beyond the genre, blending elements of soul, country, alternative rock and atmospheric late-night songwriting. Rather than focusing purely on virtuoso guitar work, the album places equal emphasis on melody, emotion and storytelling.

Produced by Poole alongside Wayne Proctor and Oli Brown, the album features songwriting contributions from all three musicians, together with Steve Amadeo.

Opening track and lead single No Second Chances sets the tone with a brooding tale of a relationship beyond repair before exploding into one of Poole's signature guitar solos. Elsewhere, songs including Searching, Summer Haze and Living On Repeat (Buried In The Background) explore themes of uncertainty, reflection, memory and personal growth.

One of the album's highlights is Runaway Souls, a collaboration with acclaimed singer-songwriter Elles Bailey, combining soaring vocals, driving guitars and a powerful sense of freedom and escape.

Poole says the long gap between albums was intentional.
"I took my time over the new album so that it would be super-realised in every aspect," he says. "We dug deep to make sure the songwriting was of the highest quality and the arrangements were carefully structured and perfectly executed."

To support the release, Poole will embark on an extensive UK tour beginning in Kinross on October 31, with dates scheduled across Glasgow, Newcastle, London, Brighton, Chester and many more throughout November.

Eight years in the making, Post-Midnight Behaviour promises to showcase a more mature, adventurous Ben Poole while retaining the powerful blues-rock sound that has earned him a loyal following.
