 Blue Note Records has announced the next wave of releases in its acclaimed Classic Vinyl Reissue Series. This collection features 180g all-analog vinyl editions, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original tapes and pressed at Optimal. Curated by Don Was and Cem Kurosman, the series celebrates the rich history and diverse styles of the legendary label. The new titles launch on January 17 with two early-1960s hard bop classics: Like Someone In Love by Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers and Freddie Hubbard’s Here To Stay. Both are available for pre-order now via the Blue Note Store. Highlights from the upcoming releases include late-1950s gems like Jimmy Smith’s House Party and Johnny Griffin’s A Blowing Session (featuring John Coltrane and Hank Mobley). Also featured are soulful late-1960s albums such as Lou Donaldson’s Say It Loud and Horace Silver’s Serenade to a Soul Sister, as well as 1970s jazz-funk landmarks like Donald Byrd’s Stepping Into Tomorrow and Eddie Henderson’s Heritage. The series also introduces two 1980s standouts making their vinyl debut, directly cut from the original analog master tapes: Tony Williams’s Civilization and Don Pullen’s New Beginnings.
