 Eli Paperboy Reed Drops Title Track “Getting There” Ahead of Upcoming Album Eli Paperboy Reed has dropped his new single “Getting There” today — the title track from his forthcoming album of the same name, arriving September 11 via Yep Roc Records. The record is produced by none other than the legendary songwriter, producer, and genre‑bending icon Swamp Dogg, and is described as “a rich and deeply personal exploration of enduring love, commitment, and the long road of life shared with others.” Reed explains that the project digs into a different side of romance: “Plenty of music is about falling in love. I wanted to write about staying in love. About what it really takes to go the distance — two people walking side by side through everything life throws at them and still choosing each other every day. We’re always ‘getting there.’ Even when you’ve reached the so‑called goals family, kids, stability the race isn’t over, and it never will be.” Recorded mostly live over ten days at Restoration Sound in Brooklyn, the album marks Reed’s first collaboration with Swamp Dogg and one he knew had to happen. “If anybody knows how to make grown‑folks music, it’s Swamp Dogg,” Reed says. “He knows how to blend genres, how to be serious and tongue‑in‑cheek at the same time. I’m not 25 anymore, and I don’t want to make records that pretend I am.
