Elles Bailey Releases New Single “Take A Step Back” from Upcoming Album Can’t Take My Story Away

Following the announcement of her highly anticipated new album Can’t Take My Story Away, Elles Bailey has shared her latest single, “Take A Step Back.” The track is the second preview from the forthcoming record, due out January 16th on Cooking Vinyl and Outlaw Music.

“Sometimes relationships can be all fire, all pleasure, and all pain at once  and you either have to embrace it or take a step back,” Elles explains. “This song captures that feeling perfectly. It’s one of my favourite moments on the record  the energy in the room when we recorded it was electric. It’s live, it’s soulful, it’s got swagger, and it’s playful too. It’s the kind of track that puts a real strut in your step.”

Produced by Luke Potashnick and recorded with a handpicked ensemble of exceptional musicians apart from her touring band, Can’t Take My Story Away brings together eleven songs that feel like the album Elles Bailey was always meant to make. Spanning nearly a decade of songwriting and crafted over a three-year period, the record offers an intimate and unflinching portrait of her journey  a richly textured, kaleidoscopic reflection of life, resilience, and self-discovery.

“There’s a real sense of empowerment in this record,” Elles shares. “That’s something that’s grown as the album’s come together  I feel like I’m not quite the same person who started making it.”

She continues, “There’s a quiet strength that runs through these songs, a deep honesty. Even when I’m revisiting some of the toughest chapters of my story, there’s always a thread of joy and light. It’s as though that light has finally found its way in, even through the darkest moments.”
