Jamiah Rogers Expands His Blues Legacy with Chicago Cowboy: South Side Stories, a Full-Length Debut on Delmark Records

Chicago’s own Jamiah Rogers steps into a new chapter with Chicago Cowboy: South Side Stories, a twelve‑track album that marks his first full-length release for the storied Delmark Records. Available digitally, on CD, and on vinyl, the project captures Rogers’ evolution from a young South Side prodigy into a fully realized guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter with a distinct voice in modern blues.

Rogers commands the spotlight with his signature blend of fiery guitar work and soulful vocals, supported by a rhythm section that has become central to his live sound: Isaiah “Zay” Horne on bass and Tyvon “Tank” Rice on drums. Their chemistry gives the album a tight, lived‑in feel  the kind that comes from countless nights on Chicago stages.
The record also features a handful of guest appearances that add texture and personality. Larry Williams lays down bass on Comin’ For Mine, bringing a heavier, funk‑leaning pulse to the track. Vocalist Amyna Love joins Rogers on I Know You Gotta Go, offering a warm, expressive counterpoint that deepens the song’s emotional resonance.

Most of the album’s material comes directly from Rogers, whose writing blends blues, rock, and South Side storytelling. His lyrics move between swagger, reflection, and resilience  themes that echo the city’s musical lineage while pushing it forward.
Alongside the new material, Rogers includes two bonus blues tracks: Leave My Little Girl Alone and Tell Me What I Say. These cuts serve as a nod to the tradition that shaped him, grounding the album in the classic Chicago blues vocabulary while showcasing his modern approach.
Several songs have already made waves as singles, including the title track Chicago Cowboy, the groove‑driven Mojo Man, and the hard‑hitting Comin’ For Mine. Together, they preview the album’s blend of grit, melody, and unmistakable Chicago attitude.

The album was recorded, mixed, and mastered at Delmark Riverside Studio, where Rogers worked closely with Julia A. Miller and Elbio Barilari. Miller  who also served as executive producer  helped shape the sonic identity of the project, ensuring that Rogers’ guitar tone, vocal presence, and band interplay were captured with clarity and punch. Rogers himself stepped into the role of associate producer, reflecting his hands-on involvement and growing artistic vision.


With Chicago Cowboy: South Side Stories, Jamiah Rogers delivers a record that feels both deeply rooted and forward-looking. It’s a portrait of a South Side musician coming into his own  honoring the blues tradition while carving out a space that’s unmistakably his. For Delmark, it’s another chapter in a legacy of championing Chicago’s most compelling voices. For Rogers, it’s a bold statement of identity, ambition, and hometown pride.
