Joe Satriani and Steve Vai Release SatchVai Band Single “Dancing”

Legendary guitar trailblazers Joe Satriani and Steve Vai reunite as the SatchVai Band for the release of their brand-new single, “Dancing,” available now via earMUSIC. The track arrives alongside a wildly entertaining new video directed by Satriani’s son, ZZ Satriani, and was officially released on Monday, March 2, 2026.

A bold reimagining of a song by iconic Italian singer-songwriter Paolo Conte, “Dancing” finds the SatchVai Band firing on all cylinders. The track unfolds as a vibrant, melodic exchange between two of rock’s most distinctive and expressive guitar voices.

Driven by momentum, rich melody, and fearless musical interplay, “Dancing” captures the spontaneity, chemistry, and pure joy that defined Satriani and Vai’s electrifying European tour — a celebration of virtuosity, friendship, and the limitless possibilities of the guitar.

Vai adds, “This band thrives on surprise — musically and visually. ‘Dancing’ is a perfect example of that. It’s melodic but relentless, and the video turns that energy into a kind of surreal comedy. It’s a glimpse into the personality of this band before we even hit the stage.”

The release comes as the SatchVai Band prepares to launch their “Surfing With The Hydra” 2026 U.S. Tour, bringing the project stateside for the first time. Kicking off April 1 in Seattle and wrapping May 30 at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts, the run follows a celebrated European leg with stops in London, Paris and Copenhagen, as well as festival appearances at Hellfest, Umbria Jazz Festival and Guitares en Scène.

Support on all dates comes from progressive metal innovators Animals as Leaders.

Audiences can expect a full-throttle, full-band performance featuring new material from the forthcoming SatchVai Band album alongside iconic favourites from both artists’ catalogues.
“Dancing” follows previous releases including the cinematic instrumental “The Sea of Emotion, Pt. 1” and the anthemic “I Wanna Play My Guitar,” which features powerhouse vocals from Glenn Hughes (of Deep Purple and Black Country Communion).

Decades in the making, the SatchVai Band marks the first time Satriani and Vai — friends for nearly 50 years — have formally united in a dedicated group, joined by Kenny Aronoff, bassist Marco Mendoza and guitarist Pete Thorn. The result is a live experience rooted in virtuosity, camaraderie and fearless creative spirit.
