Rock & Roll Hall of Famer and legendary frontman John Fogerty has announced a landmark new album, Legacy:
The Creedence Clearwater Revival Years
, set for release on August 22, 2025 via Concord Records.

The 20-track collection features freshly recorded versions of Fogerty’s most iconic songs—from “Proud Mary” and “Bad Moon Rising” to “Fortunate Son” and “Have You Ever Seen the Rain”—celebrating both a storied musical legacy and a hard-won personal victory: artistic ownership of his own work.

Fogerty revealed the news live onstage during his sold-out 80th birthday concert at New York City’s Beacon Theatre last week (photos by Mike Morgan / Ripe Melon Photography), with another high-energy performance slated for tonight at the same venue.

For the first time in his career, Fogerty now owns the rights to his Creedence Clearwater Revival catalog—songs that helped define the sound of American rock. Legacy represents a reclamation of that history, recorded with fresh vigor, heart, and intention as Fogerty marks his milestone 80th year.

“For most of my life, I didn’t own the songs I wrote,” Fogerty says. “Getting them back changes everything. Legacy is my celebration of that—of playing these songs my way, with the people I love.”

Produced by Fogerty and his son Shane Fogerty, with executive production by his wife Julie Fogerty, the album is a full-circle family endeavor. “I saw firsthand how much it meant to John to get his publishing back,” Julie shares. “Since then, there’s been a joy in him that’s beautiful to witness. This album is the biggest celebration of his life’s work—of the good guy finally winning.”

The sessions brought together a powerhouse group of collaborators, including Shane and Tyler Fogerty, drummer Matt Chamberlain, keyboardist Bob Malone, bassist Bob Glaub, and guitarist Rob Stone. The album was mixed by legendary engineer Bob Clearmountain, resulting in a dynamic and electrifying set that channels the raw spirit of Fogerty’s originals with renewed soul and sonic fire.

New versions of “Up Around The Bend,” “Have You Ever Seen The Rain,” and “Porterville” are available now to stream on all major platforms.
Legacy arrives at a high point in Fogerty’s career resurgence. From a headline-making performance at JazzFest—praised by The Times-Picayune as a “home run”—to an American Music Honors induction introduced by Bruce Springsteen, to headline slots at Glastonbury and the Hollywood Bowl, Fogerty is experiencing one of the most dynamic chapters of his five-decade journey. His Celebration Tour continues to sell out across the country, while his Chronicle compilation remains a chart staple, logging more than 14 years on the Billboard 200.
In another cultural milestone, Fogerty has joined forces with Eric Church and NASCAR on Prime to create a bold new anthem for the league—a reimagined version of “Up Around The Bend,” streaming exclusively on Amazon Music.

Through it all, Fogerty remains focused on the music. Legacy is more than an album—it’s a declaration. A reaffirmation of artistic freedom. And a fiery reminder that, at 80, John Fogerty is still blazing a trail through the heart of American rock & roll.
