Rock legend and Hall of Famer John Fogerty is keeping the spirit of Creedence Clearwater Revival alive with two fresh recordings of his classics: “Born On The Bayou” and “Lodi.” These tracks are the latest sneak peeks from Legacy: The CCR Years, dropping August 22, 2025, via Concord. The album features newly recorded versions of some of Fogerty’s most iconic songs from “Proud Mary” and “Bad Moon Rising” to “Fortunate Son” and “Have You Ever Seen The Rain.”

Revisiting “Born On The Bayou” and “Lodi” more than 50 years after they first hit the airwaves, Fogerty brings a deeper emotional edge to his legendary voice. Backed by his sons Shane and Tyler, the sessions called for some serious reflection and even a bit of relearning his own spontaneous guitar licks. Especially with “Lodi,” a song about feeling stuck and chasing dreams, the emotional weight hit differently.

“When it came time to sing ‘Lodi,’ I noticed my voice had a little more character than the guy who sang it 50+ years ago,” Fogerty shared. “I had to really get myself back into that mindset think about those times, those lyrics and put myself spiritually back in that moment.”

For the first time ever, John Fogerty fully owns the rights to the music he made famous with Creedence Clearwater Revival and he’s making the most of it. His upcoming album, Legacy: The CCR Years, isn’t just a greatest-hits rehash; it’s a personal celebration and powerful reclamation of the songs that shaped a generation.

Fogerty dropped the news during his sold-out 80th birthday bash at New York’s iconic Beacon Theatre last month. As Rolling Stone put it, he delivered “an explosive set… that showcased a level of energy, vocal power, and swagger few of rock’s octogenarians can muster.”

The 20-track album is a true family project, produced by Fogerty and his son Shane, with executive production from his wife Julie. Shane and brother Tyler also play throughout the record, alongside a top-tier lineup including Matt Chamberlain, Bob Malone, Bob Glaub, and Rob Stone. Legendary mixer Bob Clearmountain handled the final polish, giving these classic songs a fresh, electrified feel.

“For most of my life, I didn’t own the songs I had written,” Fogerty says. “Getting them back changes everything. Legacy is my way of celebrating that—of playing these songs on my terms, with the people I love.”

The just-released “Born On The Bayou” and “Lodi” follow earlier singles “Up Around The Bend,” “Have You Ever Seen The Rain,” and “Porterville,” all now streaming.

It’s been a huge year for Fogerty, who was recently honored at the American Music Honors (with an introduction by Bruce Springsteen), and continues to headline major festivals like JazzFest, Glastonbury, and The Hollywood Bowl. His sold-out Celebration Tour and team-ups with Eric Church and NASCAR on Prime are proof that he’s not slowing down anytime soon.

But through all the accolades and milestones, it’s the music that still drives him. And with Legacy, John Fogerty proves that his fire is burning brighter than ever.
