Jon Allen blends classic influences with modern unrest on the bold, blues‑soaked The Wolves Are Running British singer‑songwriter Jon Allen returns this fall with his seventh studio album, The Wolves Are Running, out digitally on October 23, 2026, with a physical release to follow on November 13 via V2 Records. Seventeen years after his 2009 debut Dead Man’s Suit, Allen revisits the classic influences that have shaped his career — rock, Americana, folk, blues and soul — while turning his attention to the uncertainty, division and disillusionment he sees around him. Across ten new tracks, he balances those broader reflections with more intimate themes of connection and the search for meaning. “Like all of my albums, this one is a snapshot of how I’m feeling at a particular point in my life,” Allen explains. He describes the world as increasingly unstable and polarised, with the songs capturing both his attempt to make sense of that landscape and the temptation to occasionally tune it out. Musically, The Wolves Are Running shifts fluidly between roots rock, blues, Americana and soul. The arrangements range from stripped‑back and introspective to full‑band rock ’n’ roll. Tracks like “The Wolves Are Running,” “Asleep At The Wheel,” “Why Can’t We Dance” and “The Guru” explore the album’s central themes from different angles, while “Roll The Dice” injects a gritty blues‑rock punch. With The Wolves Are Running, Jon Allen delivers a collection shaped by the tensions of the present moment, grounded in the timeless songwriting and influences that have defined his work from the start.
