​After earning widespread acclaim for Ozark Symphony, one of 2023’s standout releases, Memphis‑born singer‑songwriter Kelly Hunt returns this fall with her third album, Requiem for a Sleepless Night, arriving September 18, 2026 on Compass Records.

Hunt’s music may be rooted in traditional forms, but she’s never been a traditionalist. Her songs move freely between past and present, blending old‑world textures with modern sensibilities. A self‑taught guitarist and banjo player, she’s developed a highly original style built on drones, pulsing rhythms, finger‑picked rolls and percussive strumming — a nuanced, unmistakably personal approach.

For the new album, Hunt reunited with Dirk Powell, who produced and performed on Ozark Symphony. Recorded at The Cypress House in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, the sessions took shape as an intimate trio featuring Powell’s daughter Amelia Powell on harmony vocals. The result marks a shift toward guitar‑driven arrangements, with banjo appearing on select tracks but taking a supporting role overall.

The third track, “Clouds,” is out now alongside a new video. Built on hypnotic percussion and Powell’s intertwining fiddle lines, the song showcases Hunt’s distinctive vocal phrasing as it swoops and glides through the melody.
