Louisiana Blues Artist Jovin Webb Returns with Son of a Sinner, a Raw New Chapter of Blues, Faith, and Redemption

Release date: september 18, 2026

Louisiana blues powerhouse Jovin Webb has announced Son of a Sinner, his eagerly anticipated sophomore album, arriving September 18 via Blind Pig Records. Produced by Tom Hambridge and recorded in Nashville, the 11-track set finds Webb digging deeper into his roots, blending blues, gospel, and Southern rock into songs that are as raw as they are revealing.

Son of a Sinner is available for pre-order now on Crimson Red vinyl, CD, and all digital platforms.
Leading the album is the stirring new single “Pray for Me,” out today. Built around swampy tremolo guitar, mournful harmonica, and a soul-baring vocal performance, the song finds Webb confronting temptation, addiction, and faith as he wrestles with what he calls being “just a son of a sinner.” That push and pull between redemption and inner struggle lies at the heart of the album.

If Webb’s acclaimed debut
Drifter captured a restless spirit caught between Saturday night and Sunday morning, Son of a Sinner is the reckoning that follows. These songs chronicle a man owning his mistakes, facing his demons, and continuing to reach for grace even when he knows he may fall short.
“An utterly convincing deep-blues voice that seems to be stained by nicotine and marinated in rye whiskey,” wrote DownBeat, a fitting description for an artist whose music feels lived-in and deeply authentic.

Across the album, Webb moves effortlessly from the hard-driving blues-rock swagger of “Gunpowder & Lead” to the Southern rock balladry of “After the Rain” and the funk-infused confidence of “These Boots.” He also puts his stamp on Delbert McClinton’s “Every Time I Roll the Dice” and revisits “Whipping Post,” the song that became a standout moment during his American Idol journey. Beginning as a haunting acoustic lament before exploding into a full-band crescendo, Webb’s interpretation is both reverent and intensely personal.

Webb first captured national attention in 2020 with his memorable run on American Idol, earning praise from Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan, and Katy Perry for something increasingly rare: authenticity. Raised in Baton Rouge and shaped by gospel music, the blues, and the realities of Southern life, he honed his craft the old-fashioned way playing clubs and venues across the Gulf Coast night after night.

With Son of a Sinner, Webb takes a bold step forward, delivering a record that feels timeless and urgent in equal measure. Rooted in tradition yet driven by a singular voice and perspective, the album marks an important new chapter for one of Louisiana’s most compelling blues artists.

Following the album’s release, Webb will tour throughout the U.S. and Europe.

Son of a Sinner is available for pre-order now.
