Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats have unveiled a striking new video for the title track of their critically acclaimed album, South of Here. Directed by Brantley Gutierrez and shot on 35mm Kodak film in the breathtaking Colorado wilderness.

Reflecting on the creative process, Rateliff describes, “‘South of Here,’ the music video, is a journey. It is not a destination but an act of self-discovery. Directed by Brantley Gutierrez and filmed on location in the wilds of Colorado, join me on my journey out West.”

Director Brantley Gutierrez shares, “When Nathaniel and I started brainstorming the concept for the video, we both gravitated toward the mood and visual language of late-1960s and early ’70s westerns—films like Sidney Lumet’s Jeremiah Johnson. We aimed to capture that same texture and grain, which led us to shoot on 16mm anamorphic film. It allowed us to honor that legacy and frame the wide, rugged vistas you’d find in a John Ford western.”

2025 continues to be a major year for Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats. Their singles “Heartless” and “Call Me (Whatever You Like)” from South of Here both topped the Adult Alternative Chart, marking their seventh and eighth No. 1 hits to date.
