Ruthie Foster Releases Inspiring New Track "Take Time" From Upcoming Album ' Just Say Yes' Austin-based GRAMMY Award-winning singer-songwriter Ruthie Foster has released "Take Time," the second single from her forthcoming studio album, Just Say Yes, arriving August 28 via Sun Records. A warm, blues-infused Southern soul anthem, "Take Time" was co-written by Foster and Tyler Bryant (The Shakedown). The track pairs Foster's powerhouse vocals with soulful organ, tasteful electric guitar, and a laid-back groove, delivering an uplifting message about perseverance and embracing life's journey one step at a time. Inspired by advice from her mother during difficult times, the song reflects the central themes of Just Say Yes—joy, resilience, connection, and self-discovery. Speaking about the track, Foster says: "Some songs are written to get you moving. This one was written to bring you home to yourself. Take time. It's the one thing you can never get back." "Take Time" follows the release of the album's lead single, "Thank You," a fiery blend of rock, blues, and gospel that tackles imposter syndrome. On the track, Foster reflects on the challenges of having her authenticity questioned despite earning widespread critical acclaim, including a GRAMMY Award for Best Contemporary Blues Album and multiple nominations throughout her career. Just Say Yes marks one of the most personal and confident chapters of Foster's career. The 10-track collection was produced in Nashville by Tyler Bryant and features songwriting collaborations with Bryant, Rebecca Lovell and Megan Lovell of Larkin Poe, along with Mike Seal. Blending soul, blues, roots, and Americana influences, the album embraces life's uncertainties with openness and optimism. "I wrote this thing on a sticky note and it just said 'Just say yes,'" Foster recalls, a simple phrase that became the guiding spirit behind the album. The project arrives during a transformative period in Foster's life. Fresh off winning her first GRAMMY Award for 2024's acclaimed album Mileage, she entered the studio while recovering from a knee injury that required surgery after she tore her meniscus. The experience, combined with personal challenges in her relationship, prompted deep reflection that shaped the album's emotional core. "Every last one of these songs are about some aspect of my life," Foster explains. "This was my way of being true to who I am and knowing that I'm in yet another transition in my life, which is how these albums tend to happen." With Just Say Yes, Foster channels decades of life experience into a collection that celebrates vulnerability, growth, and the courage to embrace change. More than three decades into her career, the acclaimed artist continues to evolve, delivering music that is as heartfelt as it is powerful. Opmerkingen zijn gesloten.
