Buffalo blues‑rock guitarist, singer and songwriter Tommy Z has announced his upcoming live album Tommy Z Is Live in Colombia, set for release on October 23, 2026 via South Blossom Records.

The 14‑track collection captures a high‑energy performance at Teatro Santander in Bucaramanga during his third Colombian tour — a show now believed to be the first live blues album recorded in Colombia by an American artist.

Tommy has also shared the new single “Dónde Está La Fiesta,” a driving blues rocker built around a call‑and‑response moment with the crowd, who shout their city’s name back at him. The track includes one of his trademark flourishes: a behind‑the‑head guitar solo. Tommy says the audience’s enthusiasm shaped the entire night, describing the room as “lit all the way to the end.”

His connection to Colombia began when a friend at the U.S. Embassy in Bogotá introduced him to a local festival director, leading to a cultural‑ambassador tour filled with masterclasses and performances at universities, theaters and festivals. He returned in 2019 and again in 2023 — the night this album was recorded. After asking engineers to capture the show during soundcheck, he later listened back at home and decided the performance deserved an official release.

The album spans material from across his catalog, including the previously released singles “The Blues Has Got to Come Home” — a gospel‑tinged shuffle he wrote decades ago — and “Tommy Guns,” a blues‑funk rocker co‑written with Grammy‑winning producer and drummer Tom Hambridge and songwriter Richard Fleming.

Tommy began playing guitar seriously at 13, first inspired by Eddie Van Halen and Yngwie Malmsteen before discovering B.B. King and Stevie Ray Vaughan. After seeing Vaughan live at Darien Lake, he unexpectedly met him at a Burger King rest stop, where they talked guitars, pickups and Tube Screamers. That encounter helped steer him deeper into the blues, eventually drawing influence from B.B., Albert and Freddie King.

Over the years, he has toured with Pinetop Perkins, shared stages with Buddy Guy and worked with Freddie King’s brother and bassist Benny Turner. He was inducted into the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame in 2007, and his albums Blizzard of Blues and Plug In and Play both reached the Top 10 on Billboard’s Blues Albums chart. Beyond performing, he composes for film and TV, teaches guitar and operates WBLZ Blizzard of Blues Radio, a 24‑hour blues station. He mixed the new live album himself.

Tommy Z Is Live in Colombia arrives October 23, 2026 on South Blossom Records.
