Bernhard Kurz’ (de succesvolle producer van o.a. “Elvis The Musical”, “Simply The Best, The Musical - The Tina Turner Story” en “The Beatles Musical - All You Need Is Love”) spectaculaire productie The ABBA Story - Thank You For The Music was in april voor het eerst in ons land! Het twee-uur-durende muzikale spektakel brengt de grootste hits van Agnetha, Anni-Frid, Benny en Björn tot leven op het podium van het Kursaal in Oostende. “Waterloo”, “Mamma Mia”, “Take A Chance On Me”, “Money, Money, Money”, “Dancing Queen” en alle andere onvergetelijke ABBA-songs, gebracht door artiesten die niet alleen verbazingwekkend hard lijken op de originele line-up, maar ook in staat zijn om hun sound met een doorgedreven perfectie te reproduceren.

De schitterende Engelstalige show vertelt het verhaal van de bekendste Zweedse band aller tijden, die in de jaren ’70 - ’80 de wereld veroverde met erg aanstekelijke popliedjes. Vanaf hun overwinning op het Eurosong Festival in 1974 tot de split in 1983. Een terugblik op een onvergetelijk stukje muziekgeschiedenis, met een muzikaal en visueel erg hoogstaande productie. “We brengen eigenlijk infotainment, een combinatie van informatie en feest.” zegt Bernhard Kurz, “En wat nog belangrijker is: het klinkt alsof je thuis een ABBA-cd aan het beluisteren bent. De artiesten zingen live en worden begeleid door een live band.” Het concert brengt een prachtig eerbetoon aan de band en hun onsterfelijke muziek.

The ABBA Story - Thank You For The Music ontstond in Estrel Berlijn, maar werd intussen al in heel wat Europese landen opgevoerd. De Berliner Zeitung omschreef de show als “waarschijnlijk het beste ABBA-spektakel van de vele die momenteel door Duitsland touren”. De muzikale show is in het najaar van 2019 opnieuw te zien in ons land, op zaterdag 2 november in de Antwerpse Stadsschouwburg. Tickets voor het concert zijn vanaf nu beschikbaar.

Joining Roth (in alphabetical order) are Joe Bonamassa, Steve Cropper, Jerry Donahue, Vince Gill, Johnny Hiland, Bill Kirchen, Albert Lee, Brent Mason, Brad Paisley, Jack Pearson, Will Ray, Redd Volkaert and Steve Wariner.

Recorded mostly in Nashville, Tele Masters was produced by Grammy-winner Tom Hambridge (Buddy Guy), who also played drums on the sessions. The all-star line-up of notable players who also appeared on the sessions included Cindy Cashdollar on lap steel guitar, and acoustic guitar wizards Billy Panda and Bryan Sutton, plus Hambridge’s long-time bassist, Tommy MacDonald.  Although predominantly instrumental, the album also includes vocal contributions from Steve Cropper, Jack Pearson, Sweet Mikey C. and Arlen Roth’s daughter, Lexie.   
 
“This was such a rewarding experience for me to make,” says Roth about the new album. “I got to do some Telecaster duets with the best of the best when it comes to Tele playing. This album is dedicated to the great ‘Tele Masters’ of the past: Albert Collins, Danny Gatton, Mike Bloomfield, Roy Buchanan, Clarence White, Roy Nichols, Don Rich, Jimmy Bryant, Luther Perkins, Muddy Waters and so many more.”
 
Enlisting the support of so many great guitar players on Tele Masters often just involved reaching out to some of Roth’s many friends and admirers. “When my manager called and asked if I’d be interested in doing this, I quickly replied, ‘Count me in, man!’,” enthused Steve Wariner. “I’ve always admired Arlen and loved his playing. He’s always been so innovative.” Added the legendary guitarist Steve Cropper, “It’s fun to hear him play; he’s awesome!”
 
The mix of songs included in the repertoire of Tele Masters features everything from blues, rock, pop and country classics (“Remington Ride,” “Key to the Highway,” “Rumble,” “Promised Land,” “Satisfied Mind,” “Mrs. Robinson,”) to timeless chestnuts (“Ghost Riders in the Sky” and “Tennessee Waltz") and a number of sizzling original instrumental workouts (“Bunky,” “Roadworthy,” “Funky Mama,” “Tuff Tele” and “A Minor Thing”). Of special note is the track “Joe’s Blues,” a tribute to the great Albert Collins, which features the triple-threat guitar assault of Arlen Roth, Joe Bonamassa and former Allman Brothers Band guitarist Jack Pearson.
 
Arlen’s last CD was the critically-acclaimed Slide Guitar Summit (2015) which featured Roth and an incredible lineup of fellow slide guitar greats – Johnny Winter, Sonny Landreth, David Lindley, Rick Vito, Jimmy Vivino, Jack Pearson, Lee Roy Parnell, Cindy Cashdollar and Greg Martin (Kentucky Headhunters).  
 
Guitar legend Arlen Roth is considered one of the most influential guitarists of all time, and during the course of his 45+year career has toured the world and recorded with an amazing list of artists, including Simon and Garfunkel, Bob Dylan, John Prine, Phoebe Snow, Levon Helm, Ry Cooder, Eric Andersen, Dusty Springfield, Janis Ian, Don McLean and The Bee Gees, among others. His teaching and creation of Hot Licks Video pioneered music and guitar education all over the world, with his videos having sold in excess of 2.5 million copies. His current online lessons and blogs for Gibson.com have over 1 million followers. Arlen was also the man behind the legendary blues film, Crossroads, creating the guitar parts, directing the guitar scenes and working alongside fellow guitarist Ry Cooder and actor Ralph Macchio during the film’s production. He was voted in the “Top 50 Acoustic Guitarists of All-Time” by Gibson.com and in the “Top 100 Most Influential Guitarists of All-Time” by Vintage Guitar Magazine. He has eight best-selling books to his credit, and his book, Hot Guitar, is a compilation of 10 years of his wildly popular column for Guitar Player Magazine.
 
Roth’s first album Guitarist, won the Montreux Critics Award for “Best Instrumental Album of the Year” in 1978, and his All Tricked Out! album (2012) garnered four Grammy nominations. His Slide Guitar Summit CD was similar in approach to his classic and legendary album, Toolin’ Around (1993), which featured duets with guitar greats such as Danny Gatton, Duane Eddy, Brian Setzer, Duke Robillard, Albert Lee, Sam Bush and Jerry Douglas, and which also became a film documentary. He followed up that album with Toolin’ Around Woodstock, with Levon Helm, Sonny Landreth and Bill Kirchen.

‘Do I Look Like I'm In Love?’ De nieuwe full-length van The Prids, illustreert de moed van de donkere pop van Portland door scherpe, lyrische observaties, maar ook de aandacht voor sonische details en songs - dit album kon niet gemaakt zijn door een andere band op een ander moment. ‘Do I Look Like I'm In Love?’ En ‘The Shape’ wervelen en bouwen als dromen gevuld met grijze lucht en de flikkerende gezichten van vrienden en geliefden uit het verleden. De nummers stoten tegen de luchtige punk van 'Lie Here' en de basgestuurde 'Colliding', die herinnert aan de verdwaasde jangle van vroege R.E.M. Na meer dan twee decennia lang hebben The Prids het beste en meest samenhangende album van hun carrière gemaakt.
 
Het feit dat er zelfs een nieuwe Prids-plaat is, is een wonder. In maart 2015 leed bassist-vocalist Mistina La Fave aan een hersenbloeding de avond voordat de band de studio zou betreden. Het herstel was fysiek en mentaal belastend, en La Fave heeft het geluk om nog te leven, laat staan te spelen en opnieuw te spelen. De 22 jaar van The Prids zijn gemarkeerd met dood, ziekte, echtscheiding en een bijna fataal bestelwagen-ongeval die een korte tournee en leden bloedig achterliet en kapot maakte, maar ze overleven door de vriendschap en band van de oprichtende leden La Fave en gitarist zanger David Frederickson. Hoewel deze gebeurtenissen steevast het verhaal van de band zijn binnengedrongen, brengen de twee het gewoon tot leven.
 
Ze ontmoetten elkaar in La Fave's kleine woonplaats Saint Joseph, Missouri, in 1995, niet lang nadat Frederickson uit Zuid-Californië was verhuisd. Ze begonnen een relatie (ze scheidden in 2001, niet lang nadat ze trouwden), vormden The Prids en verhuisden naar Lincoln, Nebraska, voordat ze zich in 1999 in Portland, Oregon, vestigden. In die tijd brachten ze vier full-lengths uit en een parcours van EP's, getourd over de hele wereld, terwijl het verkrijgen van het respect van bands in heel Portland voor hun vasthoudendheid en een lang leven (The Prids zijn een van de langstlopende actieve bands in de stad). Ze blijven muziek maken voor de juiste redenen - met of zonder een label, voor zichzelf. Een paar jaar geleden brachten ze drummer Gordon Nickel en multi-instrumentalist Tim Yates binnen, hun meest robuuste line-up. Deze vier personen zijn wat ‘Do I Look Like I'm In Love?’ zo'n speciaal plaat maakt.
 
Gedurende het geheel zijn The Prids volledig DIY gebleven (de band lanceerde zelfs zijn eigen label / artiestencollectief This-a-Way Records in 1996). Hun video's en albumhoezen zijn even briljant opgevat als de muziek zelf. En in 2017 spelen The Prids met hetzelfde enthousiasme als 20 jaar geleden. Ze zeggen: “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” en deze band is daar de belichaming van.

Pat Metheny has been elected into the prestigious Royal Swedish Academy of Music. 
Founded in 1771 by King Gustav III, the Royal Swedish Academy of Music is one of the Royal Academies in Sweden. The academy's purpose is to promote art music and musical life. It shall thus follow developments within Swedish and international music circles, take initiatives to advance musical culture as well as support education, research and artistic development in music's various fields.
The news comes just months after the guitarist, composer, and bandleader received the National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master Award (the United States’ highest national award for a jazz artist) as well Jazz FM’s “PRS For Music Gold Award” for lifetime achievement.
Additionally, the 20-time GRAMMY® Award winner kicks off a 24-city European tour this week with Antonio Sanchez, Linda May Han Oh, and Gwilym Simcock, followed by a U.S. tour this fall.

Sony Music Entertainment and the Estate of Prince Rogers Nelson have inked an exclusive distribution agreement covering 35 essential previously released album titles from the Prince catalog, it was announced today.
 
The Prince catalog covered under the new agreement will be distributed by Legacy Recordings, a division of SME, with worldwide rights beginning immediately to 19 previously released album titles (originally released between 1995-2010). The list of album titles includes The Gold Experience (1995), Emancipation (1996), Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic (1999), The Rainbow Children (2001) and 3121 (2006), as well as titles originally distributed by Sony including Musicology (2004) and Planet Earth (2007). Additional album titles from the 2014-2015 era will also be distributed with worldwide rights under the deal in the future.
 
In addition to the album titles from the 1995-2010 era, the agreement also includes rights to other previously released material recorded post-1995 including singles, b-sides, remixes, non-album tracks, live recordings and music videos. 
 
Starting in 2021, Sony/Legacy's distribution rights will be expanded to include 12 Prince non-soundtrack catalog albums, featuring iconic music recorded by the artist from the 1978-1996 era for distribution in the United States. Music from this period covered under the agreement includes the highly renowned albums Prince (1979), Dirty Mind (1980), Controversy (1981), 1999 (1982), Around The World In A Day (1985), Sign 'O' The Times (1987), Lovesexy (1988), Diamonds and Pearls (1991) and [Love Symbol] (1992) as well as hit singles "1999," "Little Red Corvette," "I Wanna Be Your Lover," "Raspberry Beret" and much more.

De vader van Michael Jackson is overleden. Joe Jackson leed aan een ongeneeslijke vorm van kanker en werd 89 jaar.
Joseph Walter (Joe) Jackson werd geboren op 26 juli 1928 in Fountain Hill in de Amerikaanse staat Arkansas. Met zijn echtgenote Katherine Scruse kreeg hij tien kinderen.
Hij startte met zijn broer Luther een muziekcarrière die echter niet voor hem bleek weggelegd. Maar Joe Jackson ontdekte dat enkele van zijn kinderen wel muzikaal talent hadden. Het luidde de geboorte in van de Jackson 5, bestaande uit zijn zonen Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon en Michael. Zelf was hij manager.
In 1969 kreeg de groep een contract bij het soullabel Motown, en startte de weg naar de roem.
Joe Jackson lanceerde ook de solo-carrière van Michael, die zichzelf tot de “King of Pop” kroonde, en zijn dochter Janet.
In vele berichten luidt het dat Joe Jackson een strenge vader was en bijvoorbeeld gewelddadig werd tijdens repetities van de Jackson 5.
Ondanks zijn gecompliceerde onderlinge relatie stond Joe zijn zoon Michael bij tijdens zijn geruchtmakend proces voor kindermisbruik, dat met een vrijspraak afliep.
De beroemdste van de Jackson 5, Michael, overleed in 2009.
In 2016 begon Joe Jackson met gezondheidsproblemen te kampen. Deze maand belandde hij met terminale kanker in een ziekenhuis. Daar overleed hij woensdag om 12.30 uur Belgische tijd, aldus TMZ. (Bron: HLN)

Florence vertolkt haar aanstekelijke songs op het podium met een ongeziene energie en enthousiasme, en dat steeds op blote voeten. Dat maakt haar uniek, een artieste met wereldklasse. Ook wij sloten Florence Welch in de armen. Ze was meermaals één van de hoogtepunten op Rock Werchter en concerteerde eerder in Vooruit (2010), AB (2012), Lotto Arena (2012) en Sportpaleis (2015).

Cleopatra Records and producer Jurgen Engler presented me with twelve tracks and gave me free reign to play on all of them, hence 'Crossing the tracks.'

This was an unusual situation for me as I am generally composer/performer/producer, albeit in collaboration with other band members, and I wasn't sure how I would fare as a 'session' player.
However the lure of artistic freedom and a new musical challenge was too strong to resist.

I wanted to stay true to the existing compositions and performances by the other artists and yet create an impact on the music by adding melody, string parts and solos. I surprised myself by having real fun doing this - I just had to play the violin and follow my instincts (leaving those difficult production decisions to Jurgen!).

LOS ANGELES (26 June 2018): Indulging his passion for R&B-pop on the second volume of his five-part, multi-genre “Outside the Box” series, keyboardist David Garfield will release “Jammin’ Outside the Box” on July 20 on Creatchy Records. Like the first disc, the straight-ahead jazz exploration “Jazz Outside the Box,” Garfield produced, arranged and played piano, Fender Rhodes, Wurlitzer electric piano and synthesizers on a carefully-selected set list with purposefully-chosen collaborators that spotlights sessions with seminal icons, Grammy winners, chart-toppers and prominent players. Garfield has a personal connection and meaningful history with every song and each musician he selected for the groove rich, soul-jazz album, crucial elements that position the ambitious “Outside the Box” anthology towards becoming an enduring, career-capping collection.  
 
Two of the singles that prefaced “Jammin’ Outside the Box,” “Go Home” and “Jamming,” peaked in the Billboard Top 10 and the recently-released third single, “Stay” featuring George Benson, David Sanborn and singer-songwriterMoon Calhoun, aims to follow suit. In addition to the three original Garfield tunes, including “One Like You,” which he wrote with Smokey Robinson, who plies his trademark falsetto complimented by Michael McDonald on background vocals, Garfield redesigned R&B, funk and pop classics made famous by Stevie Wonder, Bob Marley, Adele, Sting, Aretha Franklin, Toto, Isley Brothers, Rufus, Minnie Riperton, Bobby Caldwell and one of his keyboard mentors, Joe Sample. To do so, Garfield gathered members of the Zac Brown Band, Steely Dan, Tom Petty’s Heartbreakers, Chicago, Toto and Tower of Power along with an army of noteworthy soloists including Ray Parker Jr., Kirk Whalum, Rick Braun, Marcus Miller, Paul Jackson Jr., Eric Marienthal, Tom Scott, Vinnie Colaiuta, Greg Phillinganes, Steve Jordan, Freddie Washington, Will Lee, Tony Maiden, Rickey Minor and Lenny Castro.
 
“One of the things I have always loved to do is keep the spirit of old-school R&B fresh and alive for new generations of listeners. This explains my longstanding tradition of creating interesting and sometimes stylistically off-the-beaten path reimaginings of songs by legendary soul artists. It was a thrill doing these songs, adding a jazz touch with improvisation that take the songs ‘outside the box.’ What was also special for me is that this album features a lot of people I work with or have worked for, from Smokey and George to David Sanborn and Natalie Cole, but now I got to have them as guests on my thing,” said Garfield, a Los Angeles-based musician’s musician who grew up in St Louis on a steady diet of R&B and jazz.
 
An example of the poignancy that proliferates “Jammin’ Outside the Box,” one can look at “The Highways Of My Life,” which features an introduction by Cole. Garfield toured with her for two years. During their first trek together, she introduced him to the Isley Brothers’ original and asked him to craft an arrangement for her. Before they could perform it live together, Garfield was summoned to return to his long-held gig as Benson’s music director. But Cole performed his arrangement nonetheless. When Garfield hatched the “Outside the Box” concept a few years ago, he reached out to Cole to have her sing it. Unfortunately, she passed away prior to the recording date. Admirably filling in for her are Oleta Adams and Phil Perry, who masterfully reposition the song as a moving duet. Cole’s voice is heard introducing the song, creating a divine moment.  
 
“The final touch was having a 24-piece string section arranged by Grammy winner John Clayton. This takes the song to the high and luxurious level a tribute to Natalie deserves. I owe this track to Natalie. It was one of her favorite songs and that’s why it’s an important part of this collection.”

British singer and guitarist Joanne Shaw Taylor has signed her first major label contract with Sony Music on the recently re-launched Silvertone imprint. The global deal will be for three albums starting in early 2019, plus her two most recent albums, Wild (2016) and The Dirty Truth (2014), will also be moving over to Sony. Upon their initial release, these last two albums received limited distribution in the USA.
 
Joanne Shaw Taylor and her band will help launch the new deal and support the album re-releases with a month-long tour of the USA, hitting markets in the Northeast, South and Midwest during August and September. Joanne is based part-time in both Detroit, Michigan and Birmingham, England. Joanne Shaw Taylor has established herself as the UK’s number one star of the blues/rock world. Het succesverhaal tussen Ólafur Arnalds en België loopt nog lang niet ten einde! Zangeres Adele zou na een pauze van drie jaar opnieuw werken aan een album. Haar vierde plaat moet eind december 2019 in de rekken liggen, melden verschillende Amerikaanse media.
De meervoudige Grammy-zangeres kreeg in 2013 een zoon en verschoof sindsdien de focus naar haar gezin. Ze bracht in 2015 wel nog haar derde plaat "25" uit en in 2016 maakt ze haar voorlopig laatste wereldtournee. Goed nieuws voor de fans dus want Adele zou ondertussen weer volop aan het schrijven zijn. Volgens intimi hebben meerdere muzikanten haar benaderd om samen te werken en staat er ook al het een en ander op papier.

Voor het geld hoeft de zangeres alvast niet te werken. Vorig jaar verkoos Sunday Times Rich List haar nog tot de rijkste Britse popster ooit. Met een vermogen van 125 miljoen pond of zo'n 142 miljoen euro kan ze dus gerust nog even pauzeren.                 

De Vlaamse zanger Guido Belcanto mocht in mei 65 kaarsjes uitblazen. Een gelegenheid om samen met zijn fans te vieren met een jubileumconcert? Te voorspelbaar vindt Belcanto. Hij kiest voor een eigen musical: ‘De zoete smaak der zonde’ wordt een tragikomische biografie, musical én concert.

De zanger wil met de musical een kijk geven op zijn turbulente leven. “Mijn leven is geen hoera-verhaal. Nu ben ik beroemd en succesvol, maar ik heb ook al veel miserie gekend”, vertelt hij aan Het Laatste Nieuws. Zo heeft hij lange tijd als straatmuzikant geleefd en worstelde hij met een depressie. “Toen ik me 20 jaar geleden heb ge-out als travestiet heb ik ook veel stof doen opwaaien.”

De 65-jarige zanger denkt nog niet aan ophouden. Zijn tournee ‘Liefde en Devotie' is net achter de rug. In september speelt de musical ‘De zoete smaak der zonde’. Het plan is om 20 voorstellingen te doen met acht acteurs en vijf muzikanten. Nadien wil hij zich focussen op ‘Zo goed als alleen', een intiemere concertreeks.

After two long years of messy divorce drama, the 47-year-old singer’s divorce settlement with her ex Kendu Isaacs was approved by an LA judge on Wednesday (June 20).
Specific terms of their divorce are confidential, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE.
The former couple reached a divorce settlement in March and first revealed they were splitting after 12 years of marriage in 2016.
The news will come as a relief for Blige, who accused her ex of infidelity after she was ordered to pay Isaacs $30,000 a month in temporary spousal support last summer.
Isaacs had been trying to get the figure bumped up to $65,000 since October, claiming he was close to becoming “destitute” after failing to find work since the couple’s separation.
He also accused Blige of making things worse for him by singing about their marital breakdown on recent tracks, like “Love Yourself” and “Set Me Free,” from her album Strength of a Woman, but his requests for more support were denied.
In other Mary news, the hip-hop/soul queen is continuing her acting career with a leading role in a forthcoming horror/thriller film called “Body Cam” directed by Malik Vitthal and produced by Matt Kaplan.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Blige stars as an LAPD police officer who witnesses several officers being tormented by a malevolent spirit that is connected to the murder of a black youth at the hands of two white cops, all of which are caught on a body cam video that was destroyed in an extravagant cover-up. Shook by nightmares, Blige’s character who investigates the cover-up. Body Cam is described as a combination of films Get Out and End of Watch.
Blige is also filming Netflix’s comic adaptation series The Umbrella Academy.

He picks, plays and scats soulfully throughout, inspired to celebrate his season with Edwards by deriving meaning from her lingering place in his heart, not in the loss of her physical presence.   
 
“Shaunia was the reality of my dreams, a woman heaven sent to make me whole. ‘Remembering You’ celebrates her life and our life together. It’s purposely an upbeat celebration, not a mourning. The meaning that I derived from this experience and a message I think everyone can relate to is that we should exalt those in our lives as well as remember those who are no longer in our lives for whatever reason. Tomorrow is coming, but not necessarily for you. Share our love with those with us in the here and now because tomorrow is not guaranteed,” said Brown, who coproduced nine of the album’s tracks.
 
A loving, encouraging greeting from Edwards opens “Hey Baby,” the sweeping, feel-good first single illuminated by fervent guitar and alto sax banter on the cut that presaged the set’s arrival. Brown’s frequent writing and producing partner, pianist-keyboardist-programmer Valdez Brantley (Usher’s former music director), uses the vocoder to tantalize and tease on “Pop the Question,” the current chart-bound single that appears on the record in both album and d-Funk remix versions. Other noteworthy contributions are made by keyboardist Bob Baldwin, who also produced and cowrote the sleek and sophisticated “I Will”; Althea Rene, who adds fanciful flute flourishes to the vibrant escapade “Our Summer”; and keyboardist Nate Harasim, cowriter and producer of the sultry reflection “Beauty Within.”        
 
A Detroit born and based guitar man who got his start in music as a vocalist, Brown launched his solo career in 2007 with “No Time To Waste.” Teaming with Valdez and Kern Brantley (Lady Gaga’s former music director and bassist who plays on “Remembering You’s” opener, “I Want You Too”) two years later for his sophomore outing, “A Little Elbowroom,” proved formative to his sound and style. Brown dropped his first recording for Innervision Records in 2014, “Brown Sugar Honey-Coated Love,” spawning the Top 15 Groove Jazz Music chart single, “Natural Love.”       
                                                        
Brown performs regularly on the Motor City music scene backed by Valdez Brantley, saxophonist Dezie McCullers Jr. and drummer Ron Otis, his core band that appears on the new album. Brown is looking forward to performing cuts from “Remembering You” in a big setting at the River Raisin Jazz Festival on August 11held in nearby Monroe, Michigan. One week later, his summer wedding will finally take place when he takes marriage vows with “a beautiful child of God.”

Naturally, in curating the oeuvre himself, JMJ refrained from simply aligning his hits like links on a chain, and instead decided to divide them into four different sections: “Going through the body of my existing work for this project, I realized that I have four quite different styles of composition”, Jarre explains. “There is this common idea that people are focusing on shorter and shorter moments of music by zapping constantly. This is not necessarily true. We are also spending more and more time in our day-to-day life listening to playlists. Wherever we are and whatever we do. This is the reason why I decided to divide this project into four different parts, four different worlds that make up my own world…my own planet. And I hope that you will enjoy the journey.”
 
Comprising of four parts- Soundscapes, Themes, Sequences, Explorations & Early Works -PLANET JARRE is unmistakably and utterly typically Jarre, highlighting a different creative focus of his work. Soundscapes taps into Jarre's natural sense for acoustic aestheticism and atmospheric composition translated into nine soundscapes that clearly reference his background in classical music and his passion for motion picture scores. Long and familiar ambient tracks like “Oxygene 1,” “Equinoxe 2” and “Chronology 1” seamlessly follow newer pieces like the original title track of Electronica - The Heart of Noise. Themes  features indestructible, timeless melodies and song-like structures such as “Oxygene 2,” “Oxygene 4,” “Zoolookologie” and “Industrial Revolution Part 2” that will resonate with everyone familiar with his repertoire.
 
The nine tracks on Sequences are all based on the repetitive and hypnotic sequences that only electronic instruments can create. With early works like “Arpeggiator” and “Revolutions” Jarre shaped the future of techno and EDM, paving the way for what is brought to almost organic completion. The selection also features newer works like “Stardust,” co-composed by Jarre and techno/trance producer Armin van Buuren, and two recently composed and previously unreleased tracks called “Coachella Opening” and “Herbalizer”.
 
One of the most intriguing features of Explorations & Early Works is the previously unreleased demo recording of the mythical “Music For Supermarkets,” the only remaining testimony to the unique recording that was pressed on a solitary vinyl for auction. In an unparalleled display of criticism to the devaluation of music, comparing it to mass consumer goods on shelves rather than artistic creation, Jarre recorded and produced and entire album only to completely destroy the master tapes after the radio broadcast. For a long time, the only existing LP of the broadcast recording was considered the highest-trading vinyl copy on the planet. The track “Erosmachine” then takes us back to 1969 and the very early days of Jarre's creative period.
 
The release of PLANET JARRE follows the 2018 U.S. leg of Jarre’s ELECTRONICA World Tour where he made his U.S. festival debut at Coachella to critical acclaim. Susheela Raman, een zeer fascinerende Londense zangeres met Zuid-Indische ouders, die van alle 'muzikale markten' thuis is, komt op 17 oktober naar Ancienne Belgique. 
Vandaag komt haar nieuwste album, 'Ghost Gamelan', uit. In 'Ghost Gamelan' verweeft Susheela haar betoverende stem en mysterieuze nummers met de klank van de Javaanse gamelan, in een arrangement van de hedendaagse Indonesische componist Gondrong Gunarto.
Samen met Gunarto en zijn door de wol geverfde team van gamelanvirtuozen stellen Raman en Sam Mills het album op 17 oktober 2018 voor in de Ancienne Belgique.

Dudley Phillips, de gewezen bassist van Robert Wyatt en Bill Withers, zal het gezelschap bijstaan op basgitaar en contrabas.
Ramans wispelturige emoties in combinatie met dit zonderlinge allegaartje van muzikaal talent belooft voor een bevreemdende muziekervaring te zorgen.

Underworld en Iggy Pop kondigen hun EP Teatime Dub Encounters aan, die zal uitkomen op 27 juli. Enkele weken geleden dropten ze al de track Bells & Circles, en vanaf vandaag kan je ook een tweede song beluisteren: I’ll See Big.

Het was Rick Smith van Underworld die een meeting met Iggy Pop voor mekaar kreeg, om over een samenwerking te spreken voor de soundtrack van T2 Trainspotting.  

Smith:  “Iggy was staying at The Savoy and graciously said 'yeah you know we we can meet and talk about something' because we both felt a strong connection to Trainspotting and to Danny. I turned up thinking I've got one chance here to convince this gentleman that we should work together. So I turned up with basically half my studio, hired a hotel room, set up and sat waiting.”
 
Hun beider songs Lust for Life en Born Slippy (Nuxx) waren essentieel in de legendarische originele film, meer dan 20 jaar geleden.  Toen Iggy Pop aankwam in de hotelkamer, stond er een studio kant en klaar op hem te wachten. 
 
Iggy Pop:  “When you are confronted with somebody who has a whole bloody studio there in the hotel room, a Skyped director who has won the Oscar recently and a fucking microphone in front of you and 30 finished pieces of very polished music, you don't want to be the wimp that goes 'uh uhhh', so my mind was racing.”
 
Teatime Dub Encounters is het resultaat van een aantal clandestiene hotelopnamesessies, die van start gingen slechts enkele weken nadat beide artiesten hun laatste albums uitbrachten. 
Barbara, Barbara We Face a Shining Future van Underworld en Post Pop Depression van Iggy Pop kwamen allebei op 18 maart 2016 uit overigens.  De EP is overigens vooral geen ode aan het verleden, maar het werk van artiesten in constante beweging. Spontaniteit was de basis voor hun creativiteit.  

Ter aankondiging van zijn aankomende derde studio album verblijdt Tom Odell ons met een nieuwe single “If You Wanna Love Somebody”. Om die heuglijke gebeurtenis extra in de verf te zetten kondigt de Engelse artiest nieuwe live data aan waarbij Brussel niet vergeten wordt! Tom Odell concerteert voor zijn Belgische publiek op 29 oktober in La Madeleine voor een concert in alle intimiteit.
 
Sinds de release van zijn debuutalbum in 2013 heeft de jonge artiest van 27 jaar het perfecte recept gevonden om tot diep in de harten van zijn publiek te dringen. Met spraakmakende nummers als “Another Love”, “Can’t I Pretend”, “Hold Me” of andere zoals “Wrong Crowd’ en “Magnetised” distilleert Tom poëtische popnummers met een extreme gevoeligheid en ongeziene efficiëntie. Met zijn eerste twee albums nestelde Tom Odell zich zonder probleem in de kijker van de internationale muziekscene. Het is dus vol ongeduld wachten op de release van zijn derde album.
