Begin 2011 stuurde productiehuis ‘A Private View’ regisseurs Roel en Berend Boorsma op pad om een heleboel Belgische componisten te bezoeken en van gedachten te wisselen. Het was een fijne ontmoeting en direct nadat de regisseurs in hun wagentje waren gestapt om terug naar Amsterdam te rijden schrijft Van Nueten neer wat later het hoofdthema van de film zal worden. Het verhaal over een kind dat onderdrukt wordt en vervolgens van huis wegloopt heeft hem aangegrepen. Drie weken later levert hij een demo af, wordt vervolgens gevraagd om de muziek te schrijven en aanvaardt de opdracht. Beide regisseurs moedigen hem aan ‘teveel’ te schrijven om in de eindmixage opties te hebben. Producent San Fu Maltha is – nadat Van Nueten de muziek voor hem gespeeld heeft – enthousiast en vraagt aan de componist om de muzikale productie op zich te nemen. Dit heeft mede geleid tot dit album. Van Nueten kan een team samenstellen met mensen die hij hoog inschat en waardeert en de opnames verlopen in een sfeer van wederzijds respect en vertrouwen, wat het hoge muzikale niveau van dit album verklaart. Guy Van Nueten is een Belgische componist, pianist en producent. Hij begint piano te spelen op 5-jarige leeftijd, waarop hij door zijn moeder naar de plaatselijke muziekschool wordt gebracht. Als gevolg hiervan kon hij eerder noten lezen dan letters. Rond zijn 15 jaar begint hij zich met pop- en rockmuziek bezig te houden en na zijn studies wiskundige economie gooit hij zich volledig op een muzikale carrière. Hij concentreert zich op het schrijven van songs en schrijft voor zijn toenmalige band ‘The Sands’ ondermeer de belpop-klassieker ‘April & June’, een song die al meer dan 20 jaar op de radio te horen is en steevast in de ‘top-100 Belgische songs aller tijden’ van het tijdschrift Knack opduikt. Hun debuut-cd wordt opgenomen in de Verenigde Staten en wereldwijd uitgebracht door Universal. Vervolgens toert de groep doorheen Europa, o.a. met John Cale. Rond 1998 is een muzikale koerswijziging voor hem een noodzaak geworden: hij schrijft zich in aan het conservatorium voor compositie en harmonie en wordt pianistiek onder handen genomen door de internationaal gerenommeerde pedagoog Jacques De Tiège. Een episode waarover Van Nueten nu zegt: ‘Vroeger speelde de piano met mij, nu speel ik piano.’ Na deze koerswijziging bouwt hij een reputatie op als componist voor theater, dans en film. Hij componeert voor de bekendste theaterhuizen uit de Benelux zoals Toneelhuis, Toneelgroep Amsterdam, Les Ballets C de la B, de Filharmonie, tPaleis enz. Verder componeert hij o.m. voor filmregisseurs Koen Mortier (‘Ex-Drummer’) en Alex Stockman (‘Eva’ en ‘Pulsar’) Verder is hij een veelgevraagd sessiemuzikant, te horen op cd’s van Admiral Freebee, Daan, dEUS, Magnus, Tim Vanhamel, Zita Swoon, e.a. In de herfst van 2009 brengt hij het prachtige ‘Merg’ uit, een hedendaags klassiek solo-album met verwijzingen naar o.a. barok en zijn held J.S. Bach, en met songtitels als ‘Adagio niet in B’, ‘Agressie Var.1’ of ‘Impro De Vrucht’. Dit album wordt in 2013 opgevolgd door het intrigerende ‘Pacman’, volgens cobra.be ‘tijdloos en wars van alle trends’, volgens Dimitri Verhulst (in Humo) ‘beste cd van 2013’. Nieuwe single Oklahoma Skies wordt volgende week naar radio gebracht.
Tout Va Bien speelt op vrijdag 15 januari alvast in de prachtige Stadsschouwburg in Groningen. Eurosonic is hét festival waar menig talentvolle band ontdekt werd: denk de laatste jaren onder andere maar aan Sam Smith, Bastille, Dotan, Ibeyi, James Blake, Hozier, Royal Blood, Seinabo Sey, Jake Bugg, … In dat mooie rijtje zal Tout Va Bien niet misstaan. Het is in ieder geval een fantastisch jaar geweest voor Tout Va Bien. Zijn uitstekend onthaald debuutalbum Kepler Star injecteerde een portie sferische pracht in het trommelvlies en de lead-single ‘This Fight’ was naast Studio Brussel’s Hotshot ook een Afrekening-hit die maanden over het radionet golfde. Dé hoogtepunten waren toch wel de passages op Rock Werchter 2015 – een overvolle Klub C en mét het koor! – en de Wablieft op Pukkelpop. JMJ: "I've wanted to tell a story for a while regarding electronic music history and its legacy from my point of view and experience, from when I started to nowadays. So I planned to compose for and collaborate with an array of artists who are, directly or indirectly linked to this scene, with people I admire for their singular contribution to our genre, that represent a source of inspiration for me over the last four decades I have been making music, but who also have an instantly recognisable sound. At the outset, I had no idea how this project would evolve, but I was delighted that everybody I reached out to accepted my invitation." De Franse producer stond er tijdens het maken van dit album op om met elke collaborator heel nauw samen te werken: hij maakte de basis van de song, liet hen dan ieder hun ding doen met het nummer, waarna ze samen het nummer afwerkten. The reunited act features three of the group’s classic five-man lineup -- Les McKeown, Alan Longmuir and Stuart Wood -- who promised “a very special Christmas present to all the fans that have kept the faith with the band over the years” with a gig at Glasgow’s Barrowland Ballroom on Dec. 20. Announcing the reunion at a press conference in Glasgow, singer McKeown told reporters, "You think we're doing it for money but we're doing it for the glory of Scotland and the glory of the tartan. "Taking the Scottish name all around the globe. That's what we're doing it for -- to see our fans again one more time." According to reports, they’ve been working on a new single, "Boomerang" and original bandmate Eric Faulkner is in the frame to rejoin the group sometime in the future. The band, first known as the Saxons, scored a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 with ‘Saturday Night’ in 1976, one of its three top 10s in the U.S. In the U.K., the group enjoyed No. 1s with ‘Bye Bye Baby’ and ‘Give a Little Love’ (both from 1975) and saw ten songs hit the Top 10. The band split in 1981. In 2007, six members of the Bay City Rollers launched a lawsuit accusing Arista Records of failing to pay millions of dollars in royalties. That legal case remains unresolved. Eerder deze maand zetten Koen, Kris en een vijftigtal figuranten Hotel NH Gent Belfort op stelten voor de opname van de bijhorende videoclip. Fans kunnen hierin de Wauters-broers als rebellerende bell-boys aan het werk zien en toekijken hoe ze alle hotelgasten en personeel op sleeptouw nemen voor een swingend feestje doorheen de gangen van het hotel. De videoclip zal begin oktober haar première krijgen op de Facebookpagina van de band.

Wilde has previous produced Rod Stewart (American Songbook series), Carly Simon (Moonlight Serenade) and Art Garfunkel (Some Enchanted Evening). He previously worked with Engelbert on 'Engelbert Calling' (2014) as vocal producer as well as his 2007 release 'The Winding Road'. Engelbert's country roots can be traced back to his very first hit 'Release Me' in 1967. The song was 21 years old by the time Engelbert got hold of it and made it his own. Eddie Miller wrote 'Release Me' in 1946. Miller could not find anyone to record the song so he recorded it himself in 1947. In 1954 the song was recorded by Ray Price. While not his first record, it became his breakthrough record reached no 6 in the USA. Engelbert Humperdinck recorded 'Release Me' in 1967. It reached no 1 on the UK charts and stopped The Beatles 'Penny Lane/Strawberry Fields Forever' from topping the British charts for the first time since 1963. Creation Records was one of the most important, vital independent labels of the 80s and 90s, born in the post-punk era and progressing to define the Britpop generation. The label evolved out of a hip London club night and won the plaudits with a string of limited edition 7” singles and a handful of albums – including the acclaimed debut ‘Upside Down’ by The Jesus & Mary Chain. During this period 1983-1985, the label also issued vinyl by Primal Scream (their debut 45), The Pastels, The Bodines, The Loft, The Membranes, The Jasmine Minks et al. Released on 25th September, Creation Artifact is the first comprehensive box set devoted to the early years of Creation Records. Housed in a lavish ‘book’ set, Creation Artifact pays tribute to that seminal period with two discs comprising early A’s and B’s, a third CD of rarities and album tracks, another comprising previously unissued demos and a fifth disc of rare BBC sessions. Creation Records felt like a colourful antidote to the grey, doom-laden masses which were littering the Indie charts. This classic film was originally commissioned by London Weekend Television and Virgin Films in 1979 to mark the 10th Anniversary of the first landing on the moon, July 21st 1969. A recent discovery of a print in mint condition has enabled us to issue the film in a sparkling new (and complete!) edition. Producer Tony Palmer explains, “The invitation to make the film came out of the clear blue sky from NASA in January 1978. I was invited to Washington and shown the mountain of film NASA had collected from the very beginnings with John Glenn, the first astronaut to orbit the earth in February 1962, until Apollo 17 December 1972. Use whatever I wanted, I was told, plus all the talk-back between ground control in Houston and the various space missions. NASA's extraordinary and spectacular images made me realize I had access to a treasure house beyond imagination. “From the beginning, I wanted Mike Oldfield to write the music, and the soundtrack which emerged – a combination of hitherto unreleased recordings including the orchestral versions of Oldfield's early masterpieces, 'Tubular Bells' and 'Hergest Ridge' - is remarkable, perfect in every way; evocative, powerful, an inspiring match for the images. And I'm sure it is that, plus of course the astonishing NASA footage and the sound of the astronauts chatting away in space. Virgin Films may have long gone, but together these elements made and make the film what it is - something rather special.” At a Gala Screening in the Egyptian Cinema in Hollywood in 2008, the film was introduced by Buzz Aldrin, the second man to walk upon the moon. He said: “It gives me enormous pleasure, and a thrill, to be able to introduce Tony Palmer's remarkable film about our space adventures. I say remarkable because at the time it was made, 1978/9, very little of the footage you are about to see had ever been seen in public, images which are now so familiar as to be truly iconic. But it was Tony who used them first, and we are very pleased that he did, even if he did construct the longest take-off in history! I still get a chill hearing some of the talk-back which, like the footage, NASA had provided for Tony to use. When the rocket takes off, boy is that a roller-coaster ride, bumpy as hell. So when you hear my voice saying 'little bit of shaking there', you'll know what I mean! So thank you Tony for what you did.” The distinguished film critic Alexander Walker said after the first screenings: “The best British film screened at Cannes (in 1980) was Mike Oldfield and Tony Palmer's 'The Space Movie', with unique footage from NASA and music by Mike Oldfield. Palmer’s film combines both in a wonderful, at times profoundly moving, tribute to the astronauts from Cape Kennedy. The film includes one of the finest space launches ever collated, with footage that is unbelievably spectacular. Full marks to director Tony Palmer. The songs on the new album create a subtle balance between revealing the pain and difficulties that Morrison has experienced in his recent personal life, and the soundtrack to those lazy Sunday mornings that, will make you dance, smile and reflect.
