De track stamt van het in 2016 verschenen album FROM THE ASHES OF EDEN. In oktober steekt de band ook nog eens het kanaal over, om 3 shows te doen met METAPRISM in Londen, Bournemouth en Bridgwater. In de video voor Survivors Of Hell zien we een gevangene, die gedwongen is een schaakspel te spelen, terwijl een spelleider probeert om zijn bewegingen te manipuleren en te beheersen via een computer. Het nummer en de video dienen als een metafoor voor moderne oorlogvoering. Het gaat over de krankzinnigheid van oorlogvoering die van veraf met allerlei technologie aangestuurd wordt. De mens die in staat is de ander af te slachten met behulp van drones en computers. Enerzijds maakt dit de oorlogsvoering ´schoon´ en op afstand, zoals bij een computerspel, anderzijds is er de harde en gruwelijke realiteit van dichtbij, wanneer mensen als gevolg daarvan verminkt of gedood worden. De 'overlevenden' uit het lied, zijn de pionnen en daarmee de slachtoffers die geen enkele controle hebben over ´de hel´ die door het slagveld wordt aangericht. Available on CD, vinyl LP and digital formats, this brand new album infuses Orbison’s best original vocal performances, consisting of hits and fan favorites such as “Oh, Pretty Woman,” “Crying” and “Only the Lonely,” with the emotion and world class musicianship of the Royal Philharmonic, London’s most notable orchestra. Wie de band aan het werk zag tijdens hun vorige Belgische passages weet dat dat een absolute belevenis is. MY BABY, bestaande uit broer/zuster-duo Sheik (drums) en Cato van Dijck (vocals/gitaar) en Nieuw-Zeelands gitarist Daniel “daFreez” Johnston, tracht met het nieuwe album een theatrale en poëtische wereld te scheppen, waarin ze op zoek gaat naar spirituele bezinning. “In de hedendaagse samenleving blijven we zoeken naar nieuwe manieren om terug te keren naar een oer-bewustzijn', zegt zangeres Cato van Dijck. “We willen het publiek meenemen op een sjamanistisch geïnspireerde muzikale trip.” MY BABY bracht eind 2013 debuutalbum ‘Loves Voodoo!’ uit, waarmee de band de wereld kennis liet maken met hun magische en hypnotiserende voodoo blues beats.  Hoge mathematische en complexe metal structuren, verpletterende death elementen en virtuoos momenten, dat is wat je mag verwachten van Letters From The Colony. Deze heren maken meer dan zomaar een song! De jonge progressieve extreme metal architecten uit Borlänge, Zweden bouwen nummers die hen meteen katapulteren in het rijtje van Meshuggah, Opeth of Gojira en brengen binnenkort hun eerste album uit.
Deze vijf jonge muzikanten zijn trots om te verkondigen dat ze een deal slotn met Nuclear Blast, en dit terwijl hun debuut ‘Vignette’ nog maar net in de maak is! Het klein aanpakken of kalm aan doen stond bij Letters From The Colony altijd buiten kijf. Dat id reden waarom het debuut meteen al gemastered wordt door Jens Bogren (Dimmu Borgir, Opeth, Paradise Lost), terwijl Peter Tägtgren (Hypocrisy, Pain, Lindemann) er niet vies van was om de band meteen ook hoog aan te schrijven en aan te bevelen. Letters From The Colony bouwen op een kruising tussen perfectie en geordende chaos; ongebreidelde vreugde van het experimenteren en virtuoos instrumentaal meesterschap. Ze leveren uiterst complexe songstructuren vol van agressie, progressieve structuren, maar deinzen ook niet terug om de saxofoon te laten weerklinken naast de gitaar of een sample van dieren te gebruiken in een nummer. Uiteraard is de keuze voor het hoesontwerp nog een bewijs van de schitterende veelzijdige kwaliteiten van het quintet, waardoor Letters From The Colony naar een compleet nieuw niche compartiment van technisch uitdagende extreme metaal neigt. Onvergetelijke momenten; memorabele optredens van de beste bands binnen de scene, de unieke sfeer en kunst vanuit de ganse wereld, kippenvel momenten en karaoke sessies in de Bingo Bogno Bar… Dit alles laten we achter Grootse herinneringen die in ons hoofd zullen blijven hangen, en bij sommigen zelfs onder de huid – met dank aan Cobra Tattoo! Maar wacht: Wees niet triest. Het einde van iets betekent ook het begin van iets anders! We zijn er trots op om jullie de nieuwe locatie te mogen voorstellen. De 2018 editie zal plaatsvinden binnen de muren van de Arena in Berlijn Kreuzberg. Gevormd in 1997 door Fu Manchu lid Eddie Glassen waren niet weg te denken tot 210 maar echt gesplit zijn ze nooit. Ze vieren hun reünie met jullie allen en we kijken er dan ook naar uit hen op Desertfest te zien. Ook aan de Sludge rockers hebben we gedacht. Wat dacht je van EyeHateGod voor de 2018 editie? De koningen van de sludge rock uit New Orleans mag één van de invloedrijke bands genoemd worden. Hun zware ontstemde bluesy riffs in combinatie met een muur aan feedback en de kwellende vocals creëren een harde misantropische sfeer. Ook de ‘queen of darkness’ Jex Thoth mogen we verwachten met een gezonde dosis doom en psychedelische rock. Mr Jessica Thoth zal samen met haar vijf koppige band garant staan voor in miserie ondergedompelde tonen en aura met verbazend diepe muzikale landschappen van intelligente geconstrueerde Sabbath-ian blues vibes en fuzzy distortion. Het atheense Planet Of Zeus doet er nog een schepje bovenop en zal het podium in vuur zetten met hun niet te versmaden live performance. Als laatste hebben we dan nog The Necromancers!
