​In 2014, Thomas “Tony” Exum Jr. was honored by the CO/WY/MT NAACP Freedom Fund for excellence in the arts and involvement in the community as well as the W. Juanita Roberts Award from the Iota Beta Chapter Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority in 2015.
 
In his free time Tony has mentored several youth in music including the talented saxophonist Nico Colucci and volunteers his time with students across Colorado including youth talent from the Colorado Springs Conservatory, Sand Creek Elementary and Broadmoor Academy of Music and as a African American Youth Leadership Conference as a presenter since 2016. Tony is a voting member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences and has the pleasure of voting for the Grammy Awards each year.
 
As a side man and opening/co-headlining act he has performed with and shared stages with R&B artists KeKe Wyatt, Sunshine Anderson, Kelly Price, actor-singer Leon, the Temptations and Four Tops, jazz legends Najee, Norman Connors, smooth jazz peers Julian Vaughn, Adam Hawley and Nick Colionne just to name a select few. Beyond work as a recording artist Tony embarked on a career in radio hosting on Colorado Springs FM station Jazz 93.5 FM with over 20 hours per week of on air time. 2019 saw Tony on the national airplay charts debuting at #93 on the Smooth Jazz Network top 100 and peaking at #70 with the single “My Name’s Tony” In 2020, Tony will release his 3rd CD/EP entitled “Rhythm and Smooth Vol 1.” with the 1st single “Old School Kind of Love” featuring Emanuel DeAnda (formerly known as “Lingerie” of the group Pretty Ricky) in Feb 2020. Venturing in business outside of music in 2019 Tony Exum Jr became the Global Brand Ambassasor for Kas’tell Vodka.
 
With unrestrained passion, impeccable work ethic, soulful, sultry infectious sounds, and a engaging stage presence Tony Exum Jr is seasoned gem beginning to shine. As Grover Washington, Jr’s 1982 hit record suggests “the best is yet to come”.

​Phil Davis is a producer, pianist, composer, and professor based in the Atlanta area. He has not only released three independent projects but also worked on many national and international artists' projects as well.
 
Phil's journey has sparked his business savvy and thus PhD Productions was created in 1994. He contributes his musical monologues in his conversation solos to the likes of Herbie Hancock, George Duke, Rachelle Ferrell, Prince, Alex Bugnon, Boney James, Dionne Farris, and Erykah Badu. Phil has also performed with the late George Howard, Jonathan Butler, Norman Brown, and a host of others. In addition to performing with these artists, he has also written and produced some of their works.
 
Other credits and accolades include scored the music for the film "Maynard" (2013 documentary), producing an NFL commercial for the 2019 Superbowl, being the Musical Director for That Comedy Show on Turner South, and song producer for Star Search on CBS for two years. Phil has also completed a new project entitled "ALIVE", due to be released during the 1st quarter of 2022.
 
More importantly, Phil has dedicated time, talent, and resources to the following organizations: Kilgore Music Foundation, How Big Is Your Dream Foundation, The Stewart Foundation, and Westlake High School Marching Band. Additionally, he is currently serving as Assistant Professor/Coordinator at Clark Atlanta University's Music Department.

NEW SINGLE ‘STRAIGHT TO THE POINT’ & ALBUM ‘AND NOW THIS’ FROM PAUL TAYLOR

​Over 25 years into a stellar, multi-faceted career that’s found him continually pushing the sonic boundaries of what’s possible in contemporary urban jazz, saxophonist Paul Taylor brings us his highly-anticipated new recording AND NOW THIS on Peak Records.  
 
AND NOW THIS, fully created via the exchange of digital files between the Las Vegas based Taylor and his longtime musical compadre, collaborator, co-writer and producer Dino Esposito, features the saxman’s ongoing exploration of an expansive range of dynamic danceable grooves and intricate pop/electronica vibes. The ten tracks fully reflect the way Taylor began moving forward in his personal and creative life, as if to say, in his words, “we’re coming out of the pandemic, this is what I’ve been creating, we’re kicking it back into high gear and we are more open-minded in our approach to music than ever.”  
 
From the atmospheric soul and fast paced funk of the title track (featuring the guitar of Brian Monroney) through the sultry flow of the closing track “Good Night,” And Now This also celebrates the decades long friendship and intuitive, forward thinking musical chemistry between Taylor and Esposito. Their dynamic history dates back to when they played in the same band as students at the University of Nevada Las Vegas – and includes Taylor touring in Esposito’s band when he was a pop star in the late 80s touring with New Kids on the Block. Esposito has been Taylor’s chief sonic co-architect since the saxophonist’s 1995 debut On The Horn and subsequently collaborated on Pleasure Seeker (1997), Undercover (2000), his Peak Records debut Hypnotic (2001), Nightlife (2005), Prime Time (2011), Tenacity (2014) and Countdown (2016).  
 
While for some artists, song titles on instrumental urban jazz releases are merely clever sounding afterthoughts, the names of each track on AND NOW THIS represent the feeling and intention of the music. With its funked out grooves and swirling sax notes in the hook, “[email protected]” is all about that moment when we clock out, make our weekend plans and have the freedom to, as Taylor says, “chill and relax or take a drive along the coast.” Likewise, “The Face of You” represents a new facet of the saxman’s ever-deeper artistry, an immersion into an urban exotica landscape and hypno-cool synth textured atmosphere with his ever-present soaring soprano. Next is “Epic Dream,” a groove of soundscape effects and soaring atmospheres that’s pure dreamy escapist. 
 
Officially entering his second quarter century of recording, with AND NOW THIS, Taylor is as excited as ever to continue casting his creative aim higher and grateful for every opportunity to bring his best to his loyal legion of longtime and newer fans. “What I like most about the new album is its freshness, and the fact that after 25 years, Dino and I still have so many unique avenues to explore,” he says. “It’s a special album created in unusual, highly stressful times. There’s something to be said for all of us artists persevering through the shutdown of 2020 and finding a way to get it done. BARRY RYAN PLOTS OVERLEDEN

​Het vreselijke nieuws dat Barry Ryan, die eigenlijk Barry Sapherson heette, eergisteren op 72-jarige leeftijd is overleden is bevestigd. De tweeling Barry en Paul Sapherson werd geboren in Leeds, Yorkshire. Zij waren de kinderen van popzangeres Marion Ryan en producer Lloyd Sapherson. Barry en Paul gingen op vijftienjarige leeftijd optreden onder de namen Paul & Barry Ryan en The Ryan Twins. Al snel volgde een platencontract bij Decca Records. In de periode 1965-1967 scoorde het duo acht Britse Top 50 hits. Begin 1968 raakte Paul overspannen door de vele optredens en de daarmee gepaard gaande druk. De broers besloten op een andere manier te gaan samenwerken. Paul schreef en produceerde voortaan de liedjes die Barry als solo-artiest zong. Barry kreeg een contract bij MGM Records en met zijn tweede solosingle ‘Eloise’ was het al raak. Het door Paul Ryan en Johnny Artley geschreven nummer bereikte eind 1968 de eerste plaats in de Veronica Top 40. Er werden wereldwijd meer dan zeven miljoen exemplaren van de vijf minuten en eenenveertig seconden durende melodramatische single verkocht. De volgende single ‘Love Is Love’, geschreven door Paul en Barry, bereikte de achtste plaats in de Top 40 en ging meer dan één miljoen keer over de toonbanken. Singles als ‘The Hunt’, ‘Magical Spiel’ en ‘Kitsch’ werden ook Britse hits. Deze laatste kwam in 1970 tot de derde plaats in de Top 40. Barry stopte met optreden in de beginjaren zeventig. In de late jaren negentig maakte hij een korte comeback. Hij maakte in 2003 ook deel uit van de ‘Solid Silver '60s Tour’ in het Verenigd Koninkrijk en zong nog maar eens ‘Eloise’, waarbij hij werd begeleid door The Dakotas. Barry Ryan ruste in vrede!

​Jazz-soul singer-songwriter China Moses to drop an EP on October 8
 
She’s got an old-soul aura to go with a vibrant artistic edge. Singer-songwriter China Moses is blessed with the jazz appeal of a classic torch singer, the power of an R&B diva and the swagger of a hip-hop hero. The scion of legendary jazz vocalist Dee Dee Bridgewater is an international talent poised for a major breakthrough in her native USA. As Moses works on her seventh album that is slated for release next year, she has a four-song digital EP ready to reintroduce her genre-blending artistry to the American audience. “China Moses & The Vibe Tribe” drops October 8 on the historic MPS Records label (via Edel Germany/Bob Frank Entertainment in North America) and is preceded by a pair of singles and videos.       
 
Moses dropped her first album, “Nightintales,” for the MPS imprint in 2017, which she and The Vibe Tribe - saxophonist Luigi Grasso, keyboardist & pianist Joe Armon Jones, pianist & organist Ashley Henry, bassist Neil Charles and drummer Marijus Aleksa - supported with extensive touring. Capturing the kinetic and highly combustible energy of their concerts, the first two cuts on the EP, “Nicotine” and “Put It On The Line,” were recorded live in London after wrapping four years of touring throughout Europe and Asia. The live versions of both tunes were recently issued as singles and appear in their original form on “Nightintales.” 
 
“There is an inexplicable musical alchemy that is born during live performances. And after touring ‘Nightintales’ throughout the world, I wanted to capture the essence of the sound created on stage. These songs are extensions of my sound. This is us in our truest format, feeding off of each other’s energy. Just ‘us,’ musically in the raw creating a vibe…a Vibe Tribe. If someone asks me what my concerts sound like, I play them the new EP,” said the Los Angeles-born, Paris-based Moses.
 
Ruminating on her difficult relationship with cigarette smoking, Moses wrote “Nicotine” comparing her addiction to a “no-good lover.” A smoky, black-and-white video was lensed for the bluesy ballad meets bebop jazz tune (https://youtu.be/t4yiZR2kSqI). Moses walks the streets of London pondering passion and taking chances on “Put It On The Line,” another black-and-white clip that includes performance footage (https://youtu.be/CTJh7FiVA_U).
 
The third track is a smoldering, juke joint reimagination of Janis Joplin’s “Move Over,” and the EP is completed by a clubby remix by Ben Marc of “Breaking Point,” another number culled from “Nightintales.” 
 
Writing ten new songs with British keyboardist-singer-songwriter Oli Rockberger, Moses is in the studio producing her next full-length studio album with Troy Miller. The set will include horn arrangements by GRAMMY nominated trumpeter Theo Croker.
 
Moses debuted as a solo artist while still a teenager in 1997 with the “China” album. In addition to her music career, the daughter of theater and film director Gilbert Moses has acted and enjoyed a long tenure as an MTV France on-air personality. Walter Cuyvers (°13/3/1940), wie kent hem niet? Als antiquair, levensgenieter, ex-kroegbaas maar vooral als de flamboyante drummer van Chilly Willy, Loony Goony & The Free American Indian Hippy Blues Street Fruits en andere bands zoals Cotton 3, Blue Bottle en Easy Does It. Op zijn zeventiende nam hij de drumstokken ter hand in navolging van zijn grote voorbeeld Gene Krupa en sindsdien heeft de drummicrobe hem nooit meer los gelaten. Doorheen de jaren ontwikkelde hij zijn eigen, onnavolgbare stijl waarin hij exotische rumbaritmes koppelde aan zijn door jazz- en bluesmuziek beïnvloede drumspel. Tot op de dag van vandaag heeft hij niks van zijn enthousiasme en speelvreugde ingeboet. Zijn leuze was en is nog steeds: “Sterven achter mijn drumkit is de mooiste dood die ik me kan voorstellen!”. Maar zover is het nog helemaal niet. Naar aanleiding van zijn tachtigste verjaardag, ja u leest het goed - besloten de leden van Chilly Willy van ’t eerste uur om Walter extra in de schijnwerpers te plaatsen. Walter werd 80 in 2020 en zoals iedereen wel weet strooide dat verdomde virus serieus roet in het eten. Walter is ondertussen al 81 en zijn beroemde collega Charlie Watts is naar de eeuwige rock- en blueskatoenvelden vertrokken. Maar uitstel is geen afstel en daarom kunnen we nu met volle trots aankondigen dat het optreden zal doorgaan op WOENSDAG 10 NOVEMBER 2021!. Het hele gebeuren in samenwerking met Living 29 zal plaatsvinden in café Den Hemel, Hoornblaas 107, Scherpenheuvel-Zichem. Het voorprogramma wordt verzorgd door ‘Smokey Pete & AC’ , beiden zijn gelinkt aan Walter’s lange en rijke carrière.

Onuitgegeven opname van John Lennon verkocht voor bijna 50.000 euro in Denemarken

Een audiocassette met een onuitgegeven opname van John Lennon is dinsdag voor 49.760 euro van eigenaar gewisseld tijdens een veiling in de Deense hoofdstad Kopenhagen. De cassette is zo'n 51 jaar oud. "Een klein lot waar heel wat interesse voor bleek te zijn", zo heeft veilingmeester Jesper Bruun Rasmussen van het gelijknamige veilinghuis het witte cassetje genoemd, dat intussen een beetje vergeeld is.

Op 5 januari 1970 ontmoetten vier Deense jongeren hun idool tijdens een verblijf in het noorden van Jutland, het schiereiland dat deel uitmaakt van het continentale gedeelte van Denemarken. Op de opname van 33 minuten die ze toen maakten, hoor je afwisselend een gesprek, tromgeroffel met stokjes en liedjes zoals "Give Peace a Chance" en het onuitgegeven "Radio Peace" .

De koper, van wie de identiteit niet bekend is, kocht ook de rest van het lot: een exemplaar van de schoolkrant voor dewelke de vier jonge Denen schreven en enkele foto's van hun dag in het gezelschap van Lennon. Op voorhand werd de waarde van het lot tussen de 27.000 en 40.000 euro geschat.

Eind december 1969 bezochten Lennon en Yoko Ono Scandinavië om dichterbij te komen bij Kyoko, de dochter van Ono die met haar vader op het Deense schiereiland Thy woonde. Hun verblijf duurde slechts enkele weken, maar kon op de aandacht van heel wat inwoners rekenen. "Op de eerste schooldag had het paar een persconferentie georganiseerd", zo vertelt Karsten Højen, één van de verkopers. Samen met drie vrienden, waarvan één reeds overleden is, slaagden ze erin om Lennon in een zeer ontspannen sfeer te kunnen interviewen. 

Op de cassette staat de naam van de zanger, zij het wel met een schrijffout erin: "Lenon".

ORGANIST DR. LONNIE SMITH OVERLEDEN

Met verdriet moeten we jullie vertellen dat Dr. Lonnie Smith gisteren op 79-jarige leeftijd is overleden. Tot de laatste snik maakte deze geweldige organist en prachtige, warme persoonlijkheid zijn muziek. Blue Note's labelbaas Don Was zei in een eerste reactie het volgende: “Doc was a musical genius who possessed a deep, funky groove and a wry, playful spirit. His mastery of the drawbars was equaled only by the warmth in his heart. He was a beautiful guy and all of us at Blue Note Records loved him a lot.” Wij kunnen niet meer dan dit onderschrijven...

FUNK LEGEND PEE WEE ELLIS PASSES AWAY

The American musician and composer Pee Wee Ellis has died, aged 80, at his home in Somerset from heart complications. Though born in Florida the saxophonist relocated to Frome in the mid-90s and had lived around this area with his wife and manager Charlotte ever since. A popular star on the Bristol and Bath jazz scene, it is possible that many who saw him play were not aware that from 1965 to 1969 Pee Wee led the James Brown band, inventing the funk groove and co-writing many of the Godfather’s greatest hits including the civil rights anthem Say It Loud (I’m Black and I’m Proud). He also had two spells leading Van Morrison’s band in the 80s and 90s, including playing on and arranging many albums including Into The Music and Days Like This.

Throughout these more commercial stints he continued to develop as a jazz musician, however, an enthusiasm stoked by an early encounter with a legend in New York. Queuing in a music shop the 16 year old Pee Wee realized he was standing next to Sonny Rollins at that time newly recognized as one of America’s top jazz talents. Cheekily the boy asked the maestro if he would give him lessons and amazingly the great man gave him a series of weekly masterclasses. That generosity would be returned years later when a mother in Frome heard Pee Wee practicing in a churchyard and – little realizing his musical stature – asked if he would teach her beginner son to play. Pee Wee agreed and that boy – Josh Arcoleo – is now one of the top jazz musicians in the country. Bristolian alto sax star James Morton is another protegé of Pee Wee’s who has taken up his funk torch for a fresh generation.

While regularly touring with his own Pee Wee Ellis Assembly and other projects Pee Wee was always very supportive of the local scene and, as well as giving master classes in schools and at festivals, could be relied upon to support local events. He was a founding patron of the Bristol International Jazz and Blues Festival and appeared on every programme, always with a new and successful project that could be relied upon to pull in the crowds. His last ever performance was, in fact, at this year’s Festival only three weeks before his passing and he was clearly aware on the night that his health was becoming a problem. Nevertheless he played through to the end of the gig and the heartfelt appreciation of the audience for a 65 year career that, in bequeathing us funk, has given so much pleasure to music lovers and dancers around the world.

Belpopgroep Madou is na veertig jaar terug met een nieuw album // live shows

​Voor het debuutalbum uit 1982 wordt vandaag tot 175 euro betaald. En de singles ‘Witte nachten’ en ‘Niets is voor altijd’ halen met regelmaat de radio. Madou is tijdloos en redelijk cult. Een verdwenen groep die na 40 jaar scherp blijft. Madou keert nu terug met meer van wat goed was in een actuele context. Aangestoken en getrokken door een volgende generatie. 

Vera Coomans meldt zich in de seventies bij de populaire folkgroep Rum. Naast haar hoort ze Wiet Van de Leest knappe melodieën spelen waar niets mee gebeurt. Het wordt het begin van een grote artistieke wending die de naam Madou krijgt. Rum vond inspiratie in oude liedboeken, Madou vertelt over het leven in de moderne grootstad. De schwung komt van de toetsen van Van de Leest - met een pompende Wurlitzer – en van de sax van Johan Van Der Staey.

Madou debuteert in 1981 met een straffe single in een productie van Jean-Marie Aerts: ‘Witte nachten’  - zuiver Belpopgoud dat nooit ‘de lijstjes’ haalt omdat niemand de naam van de uitvoerders onthoudt.

Na twee jaar en één titelloos album overlijdt Madou. ‘Men wist niet in welk vakje we hoorden en men had het moeilijk met de teksten’, zegt Coomans. Die waren uitgepuurd, nieuw, anders. ‘Witte nachten’ gaat over huiselijk geweld. Andere thema’s zijn alcoholverslaving, (zelf)moord en verkrachting. Beschreven in een fris en uitblinkend Nederlands door Jan Devos, de man van Coomans.

‘Madou is een groep die helaas te kort heeft bestaan om een muzikale kleur te ontwikkelen’, aldus de Nederlandse krant Trouw in 1997. Dat is waar. Daarom wordt Madou na vier decennia - eindelijk - vervolgd.

Vrijwel iedereen is er weer bij. Jan Devos met zowel heropgevist als nieuw tekstmateriaal, Wiet Van de Leest met toetsen, viool en strijkersarrangementen en Vera Coomans met een stem die doorheen de jaren alleen maar aan patina heeft gewonnen.

Maar/en heel belangrijk: Madou is herrezen dank zij de volgende generatie. De motor is Thomas Devos. Zoon van Jan en Vera en muzikaal bekend van rumplestitchkin en Tommigun. Hij bracht vers materiaal aan dat het vuur liet heropflakkeren en maakte nieuwe arrangementen voor oude songs. Hij assisteerde bovendien Peter Van Laerhoven (Berlin, Woven Hand, Fien Troch) bij de opname en de mix.

Ook Louis Van de Leest, zoon van Wiet, werkt mee. Hij bedacht eerder muziek voor ‘Hotel Impala’ (2007) van Baloji en maakt eclectische beats met MonkeyRobot.

‘Ronquières’ was het eerste proefstuk van de nieuwe Madou. En nu is er dus een nieuw album, inclusief de nieuwe single 'Huis in de duinen'.

 Afgelopen zomer kon je Madou live aan het werk zien in het wondermooie Groentheater op Brosella Festival & Boterhammen In De Stad, voor de eerste keer op de nieuwe locatie Tour & Taxis.
 
Zaterdag 16 oktober speelt de groep een thuismatch in Brussel waar ze het album live voorstelt in de Botanique te Brussel. Je kan Madou ook nog gaan bekijken in Hasselt, Antwerpen, Leuven en Schoten.

Amsterdamse Eva van Manen releaset nieuw album 'De Diepte In'

Maak kennis met Eva van Manen, zangeres, songwriter, producer en woordkunstenares uit Amsterdam. Naadloos overbrugt ze gitaarpop, soul, jazz en elektronica en drukt ze als producer haar stempel met minimalistische beats, minutieuze melodielagen en samples.

Na in 2018 te debuteren met 'Politiek & Liefde' komt de Amsterdamse Eva van Manen vandaag met een opvolger: 'De Diepte In' (release najaar 2021). 
 
DE DIEPTE INEva van Manen neemt op haar tweede album afscheid van haar fantasie mee te moeten gaan in de sterke mening of wil van anderen vanuit een angst het zelf niet goed te doen. Die fantasie verhardt en bezorgde slapeloze nachten. 'De Diepte In' zoekt stap voor stap naar hoe het weer kan stromen en zo duikt Eva haar eigen diepte in. Gaandeweg het album ontstaat ook ruimte om de inhoudelijke diepte in te gaan. Een diepte waarin vragen stellen en kwetsbaarheid bestaan, meer dan de stellige mening.

'Wie Weet Nou Alles' werd eind mei als eerste single naar voren geschoven werd. Mid-augstus loste Eva van Manen een tweede tipje van de sluier, met name haar recentste single 'Niet Voor Mij'. Vandaag verschijnt het album en de gelijknamige focus track 'De Diepte In' via EVM Records/Heartselling.

Producer, schrijver en artiest Eva van Manen voelt zich thuis in verschillende werelden en disciplines. Als muzikant produceert ze voor zichzelf en anderen vanuit haar eigen studio. Ze verkent het grijze gebied tussen woord en geluid, hart en hoofd, het ondervinden en het reflecteren.


Ze richtte in 2020 samen met Josephine Zwaan ‘rosetta.’ op, een platform voor en van vrouwelijke en gender non-conforming muziekproducers in Nederland waarmee ze zomer 2021 een summerschool organiseren. Haar gedichtenbundel ‘Hoe zijn we hier gekomen?’ verscheen op 29 juni 2021 via uitgeverij HollandsDiep.

Op haar debuutalbum ‘Politiek & Liefde’ (2018) overbrugde Eva stijlen als R&B, elektronica en gitaarpop met een fluïde, persoonlijke invalshoek en onderzocht ze waar politiek en liefde elkaar precies in het vaarwater treffen. Opvolger ‘De Diepte In’, dat in het najaar van 2021 verschijnt, legt meer nadruk op sensitiviteit en muzikaliteit. Haar brede muzikale interesseveld - van hiphop, soul, indie en jazz - vormt hier een vindingrijk palet voor. Eva legt op het nieuwe album minder nadruk op vastleggen in woorden, meer nadruk op het rondtasten binnen dat wat onuitgesproken is.

Of het nu produceren, gedichten uitdragen of live optreden betreft, het werk van Eva lijkt altijd te ontstaan uit een soort natuurlijke creatieve golfbeweging. Alles is afkomstig uit dezelfde bron: een geest die al het niet-vanzelfsprekende vanzelfsprekend maakt en andersom.

Martin was best known for her songwriting, with hits including “I Love Me Some Him” for Toni Braxton and “Before you Walk Out of My Life” for Monica. Often working with her writing partner, Ivan Matias, Martin also wrote En Vogue’s Soul Train Award-winning single “Don’t Let Go (Love)” as well as Angie Stone’s “Wish I Didn’t Miss You” and Leona Lewis’ “Better in Time.” Also a recording artist, Martin had moderate success with her own singles, “Let Me Return the Favor” and “Share the Love” in the late 1990s. She was a headliner in 1999 on BET’s “Girls Night Out” alongside Monica, Faith Evans, Deborah Cox, and Shanice.

It’s been some time since we’ve heard from Shawnn Monteiro, jazz chanteuse extraordinaire. While the pandemic derailed most performance, Monteiro, who also spends a good deal of her time teaching jazz vocals in a university setting, managed to pull a recording together, and we’re all happy that she did.
 
You Are There, her sixth release overall and third for Whaling City Sound, is the gorgeous sound of a veteran vocalist whose artistry is crafted in the mold of Sarah Vaughan, Carmen McCrae, and Nancy Wilson. For the ride, she enjoys the company and support of two distinguished trios. The first half of the recording are with her regularworking trio, which includes Michael Renzi on piano, Dave Zinno on bass and Steve Langone on drums. The second half is an earlier session at Brooklyn’s revered Systems Two studio, and features Kenny Barron on piano, Nat Reeves on bass, and Joe Farnsworth on drums. Trombonist Steve Davis and trumpeters John Allmark and Joshua Bruneau also make important contributions.
 
Monteiro handles her material the way a painter decorates a canvas with color. Her uber-talent lies in her ability to crush a ballad, whether it’s a sexy beast like “Alone at Last,” or a bluesy vocal like “You’ll See.” Her voice finds the loveliness between the notes, the subtleties of a lyric, the sincerity and passion of a song or a couplet or a simple line that comes straight from the soul, with a warm embrace. 
 
Overall, the repertoire is split between standards-done in Shawnn’s uniquely tasteful and swinging way- and numbers that are less well known. In both instances, Shawnn makes her interpretations look easy, effortless. This, as most singers know, is quite difficult, but is what serves to separate Shawnn’s work from so many other jazz vocalists. She sets an example, a prototype, for how to deliver a song credibly, whether it’s old chestnuts or a lesser-known gem. Some who have heard this jewel of a recording have noted this is Shawnn’s best work to date. We heartily agree. But we urge you to listen for yourself.

Dyson’s Faces released two album’s worth of incredible underground soul that has long convinced us that the band should’ve been icons of 70’s soul. A sound that combines a soaring mix of male and female harmonies, tight backing band and wonderful strings - reminding us of the likes of The Voices of East Harlem.
 
The story of Dyson’s Faces traces back to a small group called The Differences. Headed up by one Clifton Dyson (younger brother of Ronnie Dyson), he recruited three Durham, North Carolina, vocalists; together they released just one 45 - entitled Five Minutes on the Mon’ca Records imprint in 1971. A proper crossover anthem.
 
It was during this recording that Clifton came to work with the talented arranger Eddie Drennon who would introduce Clifton to producer Jose Williams and the two laid down the basics of Clifton debut LP. Without a name for the band, Williams suggested Dyson’s Faces to reflect the ever-evolving background players Clifton was using. And in fact, many of the original players on the albums remain unknown. Confusingly another album was released with the same title some years later and includes some of the original tracks from the first album.
 
Fast forward to the present-day and it was good friend of Miles Away and fantastic DJ - Buddy Love, who got in touch and recommended to give these tracks another little listen. After enjoying both albums Dom at Miles Away lovingly cherry-picked two tracks and we are delighted to now release them for the very first time on a 45 in the Miles Away teal green labels.

Michel Bisceglia en Hans Mullens zijn hun leven lang al soulmates. Ze gingen elk hun eigen muzikale weg, maar ze volgden steeds elkaars artistieke avonturen. Beide componisten componeerden en orkestreerden - naast hun vele eigen (jazz) projecten als het Michel Bisceglia Trio en Kameel en samenwerkingen met Buscemi, Arsenal en vele anderen - jarenlang muziek voor (inter)nationale filmprojecten.
Sinds kort verenigen beide componisten hun muzikale krachten in Svínhunder: een experimenteel speelveld voor piano, een al dan niet akoestische baslijn, sound design en electronics. In Svínhunder dagen ze elkaar muzikaal uit en combineren ze soundscapes met strijkers in een instrumentaal filmisch geluidsuniversum.
Na Anna (2019 Prova Records), een bijdrage aan het album Piano Layers (2020 7K! ) en de soundtrack van De Bende van Jan de Lichte (2020 Sony Music Entertainment) werkt het duo volop verder aan nieuwe composities voor een nieuwe album release in 2022. INTIMATE HANGS INSPIRE BRIAN CULBERTSON’S ‘TRILOGY’

Hitmaker Brian Culbertson never imagined hanging with fans online would lead to something of a collaborative masterclass spawning an album trilogy, but that’s how “The Trilogy” was conceived. The first album in the series, an intimate, passion-themed set titled “The Trilogy, Part 1: Red,” dropped Friday from BCM Entertainment. Written, produced and performed by Culbertson, the multi-instrumentalist credits members of his Hang Club with helping him craft the tracks, title the songs, and even assist with the cover artwork via weekly members-only YouTube Live sessions.
 
As viewership for Culbertson’s Friday night Facebook Live show, The Hang, took off in the spring of 2020 while he was unable to tour, he hatched the idea of creating The Hang Club, providing exclusive perks and behind-the-scenes opportunities for tier two members and above, including access to smaller Monday and Wednesday night live streams via YouTube unlisted. The Monday night sessions evolved into somewhat of a masterclass at which “Professor BC,” as Hang Club members dubbed him, wrote songs with immediate input from the Hang Club.
 
“What was cool about it was I truly got instant fan feedback of what they were digging and what they may not like. I got to bring them along, educating the fanbase on what an early demo sounds like, which is nothing like a finished record. I had to educate everyone’s ears to understand where it starts - the beginning, middle and end - after it’s mastered and how it really transforms over time and gets better and better and better slowly. That’s been a fun part both from my side and for them,” said Culbertson about Hang Club members.
 
As he wrote more material, Culbertson began to notice that the songs emotionally fell into three distinctive categories: passion, melancholy and hope. Then he envisioned assigning a color scheme to each theme: red, blue and white.
 
“When I first started the process, I did not have ‘The Trilogy’ in mind. I was just writing new songs at that point. I started writing a bunch and it slowly came into focus that they all sounded sonically similar in terms of the production style. However, the feeling that you would get from the songs became clear in three distinct groups. For instance, on ‘Red,’ all those songs were clearly about passion and love. Some of the songs were melancholy, sad – really made you think…introspection. Then, the third section of songs were more fun, happy and hopeful. ‘The Trilogy’ mirrors a relationship arc. ‘Red’ is the steamy beginning, ‘Blue’ is the rocky middle, and ‘White’ is the ‘and they lived happily ever after.’”
 
“The Trilogy, Part 1: Red” is an alluring, atmospheric listen. The rhythmic grooves churn seductively as deep bass and captivating melodies bathe and caress body, mind and soul. Romantic and desirous, steamy and intense, sultry and sexy.
 
Keeping with the cozy nature of the material, Culbertson plays most of the instruments himself, including piano, keyboards, Fender Rhodes, Wurlitzer, Hammond B3 organ, bass, drums and percussion, trombone, and even some guitar. The record includes contributions by guitarists Isaiah Sharkey, Randy Bowland and Darnell “Showcase” Taylor; bassists Alex Al and Rishon Odell, and vocalist Micaela Haley. Culbertson also surprises with dreamy, layered vocalese on “Infatuation” and a full lead wordless vocal on “Lost in You.” In fact, the latter made it onto the album at the urging of the Hang Club.    
 
“I was messing around trying to write a cool-sounding track, thinking maybe one day someone would put lyrics to it. I had it in the vault for a while. One night, I played it for the Hang Club, and they freaked out. They loved it and said it should be on the record,” said Culbertson, who revealed that his vocalese will appear on all three parts of “The Trilogy.”
 
The first track from “The Trilogy, Part 1: Red” issued as a single is “Feel the Love,” a sensual instrumental R&B groove that opens the album and sets the mood for what’s to come.
 
An element that stands out while listening to the lavish sonicscapes that Culbertson constructed for his 23rd album is the lofty production qualities. The tracks are textured tapestries, intricate and lush yet still full of space. As a producer, Culbertson is in constant pursuit of new sounds, growing, evolving and elevating the listening experience of his albums with each successive recording.
 
“I’m trying to make music that is fresh sounding and hopefully has sounds that you have never heard before. But of course, it’s mixed with sounds you are familiar with, like my piano, Rhodes and organ…whatever it may be. But all the extra stuff around it, that’s where you can get really creative and look for unique and exciting sounds that take you somewhere new or somewhere else,” said Culbertson who has tallied close to forty Billboard No. 1 singles as an artist, songwriter and/or producer.
 
Culbertson is about seventy percent through the second and third parts of “The Trilogy” and will continue to rely on the Hang Club’s input to help complete the sets. The “Blue” album is slated to release on January 14, 2022, and the “White” album will drop on May 6, 2022. That will make it three albums – 30 songs – in an eight-month span. A challenge inherent with being so prolific is how to present all the music live.
 
“I will have released four new albums since I last toured (“Winter Stories,” “XX,” “Music From The Hang” and now “The Trilogy, Part 1: Red”), five if you count the ‘Soundscapes’ EP (a nature-themed foray into film music released last March). Therefore, I have a lot of new music to play on tour. The show is going to be full of songs that you know and love, plus some songs from the newer albums. Basically, a mix of the classics and a handful of the new stuff,” said Culbertson who just finished his third annual Chicago Jazz Getaway festival and will be out on a three-week concert trek in November throughout the South, Mid-Atlantic and the Midwest.

Landslide Records Announces New 40th Anniversary Two-Disc Compilation Coming Out October 29

Landslide Records is proud and excited to announce an October 29 release date for LANDSLIDE RECORDS, 40TH ANNIVERSARY, a double-CD package commemorating its 40th year in business. The album features many of the notable recording artists who have appeared on the label over the years, including The Derek Trucks Band, Widespread Panic, Col. Bruce Hampton, The Brains, Tinsley Ellis, Sean Costello and Webb Wilder.  The specially-priced album, consisting of 33 tracks and over two hours of music from its catalog, is an eclectic mix of Southern Roots, Blues, Jazz and Rockabilly genres that will also appear in all digital formats. 
 
“‘You should start a label, man,’ said the beyond-classifiable Atlanta musician Bruce Hampton (then known as the city’s ‘only living art object,’ but not yet a ‘Colonel’) in 1981 during one of our many discussions about music,” Landslide Records founder and president Michael Rothschild recalls. “Hampton was coaxing me into producing the other-worldly material he’d been creating with his musical partner, the terrific multi-instrumentalist Billy McPherson, who were known professionally as The Late Bronze Age (LBA).  I’d seen some of their shows, which were fun, but the songs, though rhythmically catchy, contained impenetrable and wholly non-commercial lyrics.  ‘The annexed vortex tranquiled an address thief’s grief’ and ‘merged moons perpetuated a resurgence of guesswork’ were lines obviously not destined for the Billboard pop charts.  Nevertheless, making a record with these talented characters promised to be an entertaining sideline from my corporate job.  Hampton also assured me that consequently ‘we would all be riding around in limousines.’  Even if the truth fell short of his assessment, it was the beginning of Landslide Records.” 
 
Founded in Atlanta in 1981, the label’s first release was Outside Looking Out by The Late Bronze Age.  The album was received well critically and, along with early records by percussionist David Earle Johnson (with jazz guitarist John Abercrombie and pianist Dan Wall) and reed master Paul McCandless, the company was able to establish offices in downtown Atlanta and set up credible independent national distribution. Early on, Landslide released debut albums from Webb Wilder and The Beatnecks, Widespread Panic, Cigar Store Indians, the Lost Continentals and The Derek Trucks Band.  It has since focused on a wide array of roots-oriented Southern-based recording artists, including its latest release, Alafia Moon, by Tampa blues-rocker Damon Fowler.  
 
“Outside Looking Out garnered some excellent reviews, but despite a rave by Robert Palmer in the Sunday New York Times’ Arts and Leisure section, the album sold maybe two records in every state - a total stiff,” Rothschild remembers. “Yet, right off the bat we were deluged with demo submissions from aspiring artists across the country, all of whom apparently thought that if we’d released The Late Bronze Age, we’d release anything.  Moving forward, Hampton helped point the label towards a jazz-based roster with friends like David Earle Johnson, joined by John Abercrombie and Paul McCandless.  In 1983, Tinsley Ellis and his hardworking blues band, The Heartfixers featuring Chicago Bob Nelson, came on board, and along with The Brains, new wavers led by an innovative singer/keyboardist/songwriter named Tom Gray, opened up fresh genres for us to pursue.  We are proud to have since released debut albums from Webb Wilder, Widespread Panic and The Derek Trucks Band, and to continue on at 40 years to market an abundance of high quality, roots-oriented Southern artists.  I feel privileged to have been able to work with so many highly-talented musicians and producers, several of whom have become close friends over the years. It’s been a great ride so far. We’ve coped with all the music business changes along the way...from vinyl records to cassettes to compact discs, to digital downloads and streaming, all of which presented new challenges. Currently, we look forward to moving ahead with a new slate of releases scheduled for 2022.”

Op 19 november a.s. brengt Sony Music in samenwerking met Sony Pictures de spectaculaire concertfilm ‘The Legendary 1979 No Nukes Concerts’ van Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band uit, die is samengesteld uit twee shows die Springsteen en zijn band gaven tijdens de MUSE (Musicians United for Save Energy) benefietconcerten in Madison Square Garden (New York) in september 1979. De film bevat tien nooit eerder uitgebrachte volledige live-uitvoeringen van de volledige setlist van de band.

"Een paar jaar geleden nam ik de filmarchieven van Bruce’s ‘No Nukes’ concerten uit 1979 opnieuw onder de loep", vertelt Thom Zimny. Na de afgelopen 20 jaar als regisseur en editor van Bruce te hebben gewerkt, durf ik zonder enig voorbehoud te stellen dat deze opnieuw gemonteerde, opnieuw gemixte en gerestaureerde film van 90 minuten absoluut de gouden standaard voor Bruce en zijn band is, tijdens een van hun meest creatieve periodes.”

“De seventies gelden als een golden period in de geschiedenis en carrière van Bruce Springsteen &  The E Street Band. De legendarische ‘No Nukes’-concerten uit 1979 zijn het beste document uit die tijd dat we ooit zullen hebben", aldus de Amerikaanse muziekjournalist Jon Landau. "Het is pure rock van begin tot eind. Het energieniveau is onovertroffen, en de beheersing van de kunst en het ambacht van rockmuziek is ontzagwekkend.”

De 90 minuten durende film is een samenstelling uit sensationele shows die zijn vastgelegd tijdens de meerdaagse 'No Nukes' concerten en toont de intensiteit van een marathon show van Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band. Tot de hoogtepunten behoren de toen nog niet uitgebrachte versies van ‘The River’ en ‘Sherry Darling’; live favorieten ‘Badlands’, ‘Born To Run’ en ‘Thunder Road’; plus covers van Buddy Holly's ‘Rave On’ en een versie van Maurice Williams' ‘Stay’ met als special guests Jackson Browne, Tom Petty en Rosemary Butler.

De bekende filmproducent Jon Kilik, die in de cameraploeg van de ‘No Nukes’ concerten zat en liner notes voor deze release schreef, geeft aan dat "er pure magie” in de lucht hing. “De energie op het podium en van het publiek was onbeschrijflijk." ‘The Legendary 1979 No Nukes Concerts’ werden vastgelegd terwijl Springsteen & The E Street Band bezig waren met het opnemen van ‘The River’ en net na het einde van hun ‘Darkness Tour’ uit 1978, wat een zeldzame kans bood om getuige te zijn van toekomstige Rock and Roll Hall-beroemdheden die op het punt van een explosieve wereldwijde doorbraak stonden.

Bruce Springsteen: een levende legende
​

Bruce Frederick Joseph Springsteen (geboren op 23 september 1949) is een levende legende. Zijn carrière bestrijkt een periode van ruim 48 jaar die in 1973 begint met debuutalbum ‘Greetings from Asbury Park, NJ’ (Columbia Records). Het nummer ‘Blinded By The Light’ van dat debuutalbum (in 1977 zeer succesvol gecoverd door de Britse rockband Manfred Mann’s Earth Band die er een nummer 1-hit in de Amerika Billboard Hot 100 mee scoorde) is ook de titel van de gelijknamige bioscoopfilm uit 2019. Dit inspirerende comedy-drama van regisseur Gurinder Chadha is gebaseerd op de ongekende invloed van Springsteens muziek en songteksten.

The Boss’ indrukwekkende oeuvre bevat 20 muziekgenres overstijgende studio albums, 75 singles, 8 extended plays, live albums, 7 box sets, 8 compilatie albums, 64 music video’s en 17 home video’s. Wereldwijd verkocht hij meer dan 150 miljoen albums waarvan ruim 65 miljoen exemplaren in Amerika waardoor hij een van de best verkopende artiest aller tijden is.

Het rockicoon won zowat elke denkbare prijs, waaronder maar liefst 20 Grammy’s, twee Golden Globes, een Oscar en een Tony Award. Hij werd opgenomen in zowel de Rock and Roll Hall of Fame als in de Songwriters Hall of Fame; ontving een Kennedy Center Honor; en was MusiCares’ 2013 ‘Person of the Year’. Zijn autobiografie ‘Born to Run’ (uitgeverij Simon & Schuster) verscheen tegelijk met het verzamel-album ‘Chapter and Verse’ in september 2016, waarna hij twee maanden later met de Presidential Medal of Freedom werd bekroond. In Rolling Stones lijst ‘Greatest Artists of All Time’ staat Springsteen op de 23e plek.  

Springsteens ongeëvenaarde historische 236 (!) ‘Springsteen on Broadway’ shows van oktober 2017 tot december 2018 in Jujamcyn’s Walter Kerr Theatre op Broadway bewezen opnieuw het multi-talent van deze muzikale held als muzikant, zanger, performer, singer-songwriter en meesterlijke verhalenverteller. De shows verschenen in december 2018 als de dubbel-cd ‘Springsteen On Broadway’ (bekroond met een Tony Award) en als Netflix-special.

Zijn vorige studio-album ‘Letter To You’ (de opvolger van respectievelijk 'Western Stars' uit 2019 en het album daarvoor - ‘High Hopes’ uit 2014) verscheen vorig jaar via Columbia Records/Sony Music.
Bruce heeft sinds 2005 zijn eigen radio channel bij ‘E Street Radio’ bij het Amerikaanse radiostation  Sirius XM Radio.

​Begin jaren zeventig bracht Louisette drie singles uit die mee aan de wieg stonden van de Nederlandstalige rockmuziek. Het was de groep waarmee het voor Raymond van het Groenewoud allemaal begon. Samen met Erik Van Neygen (en later met Jean-Marie Aerts) nam hij zes nummers op die tussen 1972 en 1974 verschenen op drie vinylsingles. De meezingers 'Maria, Maria, Ik Hou Van Jou' en 'Zij Houdt Van Vrijen' hoor je nog steeds regelmatig op de radio. ‘Als Ik Jou Niet Had’  (één van de drie b-kanten) is dan weer een breekbaar liefdesliedje in de typische stijl die Raymond in zijn uitgebreide carrière nog vaak zou etaleren.
 


De drie originele vinylsingles zijn intussen collector items. BLP Records bundelt daarom de zes nummers op een LP. Op de ene kant vind je de A-kanten van de singles. Op de andere zijde de B-sides. Samen drie rocksongs en drie ballads die het startpunt waren van de carrières van Raymond van het Groenwoud en Erik Van Neygen.

An unreleased album for an unusual duo of great artists: Nicola Alesini and Saro Cosentino, who set to music an ideal map where a journey unfolds through seven cities, each of which with its own and unique characteristics and each of which with a multifaceted complexity , sometimes like a sparkling diamond but harmful like a sharp razor.
Hence the often difficult search to find an identity within a preordained situation.
Nicola Alesini was born in Sanremo on February 23, 1947. Researcher of new sounds and new stylistic figures - and for improvisation, with references both to the music of the Mediterranean, and to the atmosphere of the North European jazz school, he made his discographical debut in 1988 with MEDITERRANEA, with Andrea Alberti and Gianluca Taddei. He has worked with artists like Glen Velez, Hans Joachim Roedelius, David Sylvian, Roger Eno, David Thorn, Harold Budd, Steve Jansen, Richard Barbieri. His record works are all to be understood as Concept Albums. He has always worked by integrating his compositions with other artistic forms: dance, theater, poetry. He collaborated in the theater with Cristina Pezzoli and Maurizio Donadoni. With cinema he is a permanent collaborator of Dagmawi Yimer, signing the soundtracks of “C.A.R.A. Italy ”and“ Only the Sea ”. He actively collaborates with Alessandra Celletti and with the Claudio Lolli Trio. Onyric suggestions, introspection, recovery of traditional melodic lines, improvisation, are the fundamental ingredients of his compositions and performances. In concert he often plays in solitude or in duo and trio, making use of electronic loops which he himself elaborated.
Saro Cosentino was born in Rome on April 25, 1960. In the seventies he moved to Milan and began playing acoustic music from the North American folk tradition and blues. He collaborates with musicians of the Italian blues scene and, in 1979, forms the group "Saro Cosentino entertainment blues band" which includes Fabio Treves and Maurizio Angeletti. Since 1979 he has been interested in experimental music and electronic music. In the same year he began his collaboration with Franco Battiato, producing some of Battiato's albums of the period. In 1985 he forms, with the harpist Vincenzo Zitello, the duo A'sciara which combines Celtic folk tradition and electronic music. In 1988 he released his first solo album "Saro Cosentino" on the Octava / Emi label. From 1990 to 2009 he alternates his work as a composer with that of a producer with numerous Italian and international artists, including: Franco Battiato, Alice, Mino Di Martino, Morgan, Milva, Ivano Fossati, Radiodervish, Massimo Zamboni, Peter Gabriel, Peter Hammill , Lal Shankar, Trey Gunn, Kudsi Erguner, Karen Eden, David Rhodes, Tim Bowness, Pandit Dinesh, Tony Levin, Laurence Revey, Natasha Atlas, Jakko Jakszyk, Gavin Harrison. In 1995 with the collaboration with Mino Di Martino he gives life to the TV Dinner project (re-released in November 2020 again by M.P. & Records). The disc will be followed by an international tour with Ozric Tentacles. In 1998 he released "Ones and Zeros".


Massimiliano Di Loreto, multi-instrumentalist, drummer and percussionist. An artist who, after having played in the "extreme" wing of the Roman scene (Fando & Lis, Gronge), frequents the territories of improvised rock with Ludo, then moves to Australia to deepen the use of unusual instruments and music therapy techniques and on his return to Italy he collaborates with Marco Testoni and Hang Camera featuring Billy Cobham. With Nicola Alesini and Cecilia Silveri he founded the Pollock Project, an art music experiment, and in 2014 as a quartet he made Jetsèmani - Come la terra che trampete, an album in which a profound spirituality mixes with sound research in a world and ambient key. Before his premature lost (he died in 2017) he made 2 CDs with Nicola Alesini: “Ossigeno” and “Ossigeno Live”.

NEW SINGLE ‘WEST OF FIVE' BY WILL SUMNER

​Ocean Street is the latest, highly anticipated work to be released from renowned jazz guitarist, composer and producer, Will Sumner. With nine CDs now in his multi-layered portfolio, the first single titled, Building Castles from this new album has been a breath of fresh air. After a year of chaos in all of our lives, Will focused his talent in 2021 on creating these mostly upbeat tunes with his signature complex modulations.
 
Born in Los Angeles, attending college for music in Boston and then spending his young adult life in Minnesota, Will played the clubs and led jazz bands for decades as he worked toward composing his first album, Tropic Zone released internationally to critical acclaim in 1980. Working alongside Prince, Yanni, The Peterson Family and many others on the Minneapolis music scene at the time, he started to receive industry recognition for his lush, heartfelt themes played over hot Latin rhythms, beautiful slow grooves and, of course, funky, driving electric riffs.
 
Eventually, a move back to Southern California brought with it the opportunity to dive into film scores, trailers and commercial work, but his heart soon brought him back to his first love, jazz guitar.
 
A virtuoso on guitar, piano, and violin, Will still works with other musicians on occasion and teaches music to both children and adults near his home in Carlsbad, CA. He continues to perform at venues throughout So Cal on both guitar and drums and is always evolving his talent as he lays down rich jazz tracks with ease and finesse. Welcome to Ocean Street!

​Born in Rome, Paolo Rustichelli is an Italian composer, piano & keyboard virtuoso, singer and producer that makes his music completely by himself. Paolo call 'One Man Plug Band' he's peculiar way of work, playing each instrument by himself, creating this way a track from A to Z. He amazes audiences with his eclectic styles that make him really unique but recognizable . His peculiar synths sound cluster has become emulated by artists worldwide. Among his album projects, Paolo recorded, performed and produced for rock-jazz superstars like Carlos Santana and Miles Davis.
 
Son of the Italian three-time Oscar nominee, Carlo Rustichelli, Paolo started his career at age 16 simultaneously as a soundtrack composer and as a rock keyboard player with the album "Opera Prima"on RCA Records, considered by several critics a Rock Progressive masterpiece.
 
As a teenage prodigy, Paolo pioneered the use of the mono synth ARP 2600 and Moog in Albums and Movies, including the Italian cult film Fernando Di Leo's "Razza Violenta". This score was entirely made with both the Yamaha CS80 polysynth and with the first sampler machine of the world, the Fairlight CMI, making Paolo one of the first composers to make a soundtrack entirely with synths. Among movie aficionados, Quentin Tarantino is a fan of Paolo's music and Fernando Di Leo movies.

Lijf aan Lijf-afscheidstour van Doe Maar is afgelast, vanwege ziekte van Henny Vrienten.

De Nederlandse popgroep Doe Maar schrapt de geplande afscheidstournee in oktober en november. Ook het concert in de Antwerpse Roma wordt daardoor afgelast. De concerten zullen ook niet in een later stadium worden ingehaald, zegt organisator Live Nation. De ziekte van zanger en bassist Henny Vrienten ligt aan de basis van deze beslissing. 

​“De band begrijpt dat dit een grote teleurstelling is, maar heeft helaas geen andere keuze”, klinkt het.
De afscheidsconcerten stonden oorspronkelijk gepland op 2 oktober in de Ancienne Belgique en van 5 tot en met 7 november in De Roma.
Ticketverkopers zullen persoonlijk op de hoogte worden gebracht en krijgen hun ticket volledig terugbetaald.
