Neil Innes, the English writer, comedian and musician - dubbed "The Seventh Python" - has died aged 75.
He was best known for his work with the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, The Rutles and collaborating with Monty Python.
A spokesperson for the Innes family said he had not been suffering from any illness and had passed away unexpectedly on Sunday night.
Innes had been travelling home from France with his family, who have asked for privacy "at this difficult time".

'Gentle soul'

"It is with deep sorrow and great sadness that we have to announce the death of Neil James Innes on 29 December 2019," they said in a statement.
"We have lost a beautiful, kind, gentle soul whose music and songs touched the heart of everyone and whose intellect and search for truth inspired us all.
"He died of natural causes quickly without warning and, I think, without pain."
They went on: "His wife Yvonne and their three sons, Miles, Luke and Barney, and three grandchildren, Max, Issy and Zac, give thanks for his life, for his music and for the joy he gave us all."

The Essex-born star, who was raised in Germany, performed piano, guitar and vocals in The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band - later renamed The Bonzo Dog Band - who had a hit in 1968 with I'm the Urban Spaceman. The track was co-produced by Apollo C. Vermouth - a pseudonym for Sir Paul McCartney.
The comic songwriter penned the track Death Cab For Cutie, which was used in The Beatles' 1967 film Magical Mystery Tour, and later inspired the US band of the same name.
In the 1990s he was given a writing credit on the Oasis track Whatever, after it was found Noel Gallagher had borrowed portions of his song How Sweet To Be An Idiot.

'The Seventh Python'

In the 1970s, Innes became closely associated with British comedy collective Monty Python, contributing sketches and songs like Knights of the Round Table and Brave Sir Robin, as well as appearing in their classic films The Holy Grail and Life of Brian.
He wrote and performed sketches for their final TV series in 1974 after John Cleese temporarily left, and was one of only two non-Pythons to be credited as a writer, alongside The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy author Douglas Adams.
A film about Innes called The Seventh Python was made in 2008.

After the comedy group came to an end, Innes joined fellow Python's Eric Idle on a new series, Rutland Weekend Television, which gave birth to their spoof band The Rutles - a pastiche of The Beatles.
In the band Innes played Ron Nasty, a character loosely-based on John Lennon.
According to Innes's wife Yvonne, he toured with the Fab Four tribute act The Bootleg Beatles last year.

Sleepy LaBeef, Enduring Rockabilly Cult Hero, Dies at 84

Foto
Sleepy LaBeef, a rock and country performer who began his career in the mid-’50s and whose concerts continued to be a draw for the rockabilly community well into this year, died Thursday at age 84. No cause of death has been given.

LaBeef was born on July 25, 1931 in Smackover, Arkansas, as the youngest of 10 children born to farmers, and got his nickname as the result of a lazy eye, some said, or simply looking “half-awake.” He moved to Houston in his adolescence and became a regular on radio shows like “The Houston Jamboree” and “The Louisiana Hayride.” On his initial singles, he was credited as Sleepy LaBeff (or, in the case of “Tore Up,” Tommy LaBeff), but he became “LaBeef” starting with his 1965 releases. In his early years, he shared bills with stars like Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly and Fats Domino. His own favorites, though, he told Sheree Homer in her book “Dig That Beat!,” were George Jones, Bill Monroe and Sister Rosetta Tharpe.
LaBeef had heart bypass surgery in 2003, which slowed his schedule only slightly.
Although LeBeef never had any singles chart above the 60s, his legend loomed almost as large as he did — the singer was around six-and-a-a-half feet tall — at festivals where he was often the lone remaining active link to the birth of rock ‘n’ roll. He earned his own chapter in one of the essential books about rock’s pioneers, Peter Guralnick’s “Lost Highway: Journeys and Arrivals of American Musicians.”
The death was confirmed by his family on his Facebook account. “It is with deep, agonizing sadness that we inform you of the news that this morning, Sleepy LaBeef, born Thomas Paulsley LaBeff, passed on from this life to be with the Lord,” wrote his wife, Linda LaBeef. “He died at home, in his own bed, surrounded by his family who loved him, and whom he dearly loved. He lived a full and vibrant life, filled with the excitement of much travel and experience, the contentment that came from being able to spend his life doing what he loved best, and the fulfilling love of his wife, children, and grandchildren around him.”

LaBeef was gigging at least as recently as September, when he performed at Switzerland’s Blues to Bop Festival, a sign of his enduring popularity among roots enthusiasts in Europe as well as America.

“Fare thee well to the only musician I ever witnessed play a three-hour medley,” wrote singer/songwriter Syd Straw on Facebook, referring to his legendarily wide repertoire.
The singer released singles on labels like Starday in the late ’50s, Columbia in the ’60s and the revived Sun imprint in the ’70s before finally catching fire with a new generation of rockabilly revivalists with a series of 1980s albums on Rounder. But nearly all his fans agreed that the live shows were really the thing — and there was no shortage of opportunities to catch him as he criss-crossed bar circuits across the country over the decades.
“I used to do about 300 shows a year,” he said in a 1991 New York Times profile. “Now I’ve cut it back to between 200 and 250, since I’m overseas so much.” As for his recordings, which generated only a few minor country chart successes, “I think you can listen to the records and tell that there’s a little bit lacking in enthusiasm,” he told Karen Schoemer.
Enthusiasm was not a problem for him on the road, where he was known to enthusiasts as “the human jukebox.” LaBeef described his core sound to the Times as “root music: old-time rock-and-roll, Southern gospel and hand-clapping music, black blues, Hank Williams-style country. We mix it up real good.”
The Times reported that LeBeef claimed a repertoire of 6,000 songs, which came to be an accepted and oft-cited fact, though he later denied it. “I never said I knew 6,000 songs,” he said with a laugh in a Boston Blues Society interview in 2015. “I know more songs than I’ll probably ever sing, but I’ve never stopped long enough to count them… and I’ll never run out of songs.” The reporter to whom he disavowed that figure did mention that “a typical show of (his) might start with a Merle Haggard medley, a Jimmy Reed blues, a country weeper and a surf instrumental into a bluegrass classic, all done at a breakneck pace.”

Grammy-winning songwriter Allee Willis, known for her work with artists like Earth, Wind & Fire, and for co-writing the Broadway adaptation of The Color Purple, has died at the age of 72. Variety reports that she died in Los Angeles on Tuesday of cardiac arrest. The Detroit-born artist was famous for writing enduring hits like “September” and “Boogie Wonderland” for Earth, Wind & Fire. She also wrote songs like Patti LaBelle’s “Lead Me On” and the Pointer Sisters’ “Neutron Dance.” Willis won a Grammy in 1986 for the Beverly Hills Cop score. She won her second Grammy in 2016 for Best Musical Theatre Album for The Color Purple, which had earned her a Tony nomination during its original run ten years prior. She was nominated in 1995 for writing the Friends theme song, “I’ll Be There for You.” In 2018, Willis was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. On her website, Willis wrote that the Friends theme was a “real struggle to compose” because she was “used to writing lyrics that are funkier and not so plain sounding.”
In 2015, Willis spoke out against Donald Trump using her song “You’re the Best” from The Karate Kid at his campaign rallies, telling the New York Daily News, that “this guy’s mouth would get us into a nuclear war in three seconds,” but conceding that the song fit him: “”It’s all about bravado and fighting. And Trump is the giant who comes and stomps on the village. I can see why he picked it.”

GINA KRONSTADT’S THERAPEUTIC SELF-EXPRESSION

20/12/2019

Foto
The jazz singer-songwriter’s adult pop album, “October Comes Too Soon,” drops March 20.

LOS ANGELES (18 December 2019): Jazz singer-songwriter Gina Kronstadt was in a vulnerable head space. Saddled with the physical challenge of an eight-month recovery from multiple shoulder surgeries that could have spelled the end of her 43-year career as a first-call violinist, Kronstadt turned to writing as therapy, which provided a much needed creative outlet after feeling stifled by not being able to play her beloved instrument for so long. Opening up her heart, she wrote a collection of intimate vignettes that give voice to some of her own relationships and romantic experiences. She’ll share the eight-song “October Comes Too Soon,” on March 20, her third album that she produced and arranged.

Kronstadt’s soothing vocals and poetic lyricism are paired with a sensual aural palette consisting of various hues of jazz, sophisticated pop and funky R&B grooves. Her graceful delivery, rhythmic phrasing and the ability to hold and bend notes into shadowy swatches make her expressive voice as much of an instrument as the astute accompaniment she receives from top-drawer players including keyboardists John Beasley and Nicholas Semrad, bassist Benjamin Shepherd, drummer Joel Taylor, trumpeter Michael Stever, saxophonist/woodwind player Bob Sheppard and a 12-piece string section. Together, they pave the way for Kronstadt’s tales to venture off on experiential journeys through heartache, longing, introspection, pondering, hope and head-over-heels joy. Each song is personal, honest and quite real. For Kronstadt, she needs to feel something deeply in order to write and her experiences through the course of a trying year have provided a fount of inspiration.

“Every song I've created comes out after being inspired and then I literally have no choice but to let the music out. If I'm not moved by something or someone, there are no songs. This record is no different. It's my personal therapy, and I felt such focus and love while creating it. Also, since I immediately hear the full intention of the song, I choose not to have another producer, arranger or singer, etc. because of the desire to express my true vision. It's simply just me expressing who I am,” said Kronstadt, who will launch the FallOff Records album with a concert performance in Los Angeles on March 22 at Herb Alpert’s Vibrato Grill, Jazz, Etc.

“October Comes Too Soon” is a crossover album that will be promoted on multiple jazz radio formats. While straight-ahead jazz outlets will be able to take their pick of selections from the record, smooth/contemporary jazz radio will receive “The Threat Of Love,” a sultry confessional about a seductive man who possesses intoxicating allure.

Ever since her first film score gig playing violin for 5-time Grammy winner and 6-time Academy Awards nominee Lalo Schifrin, Kronstadt has cultivated an unparalleled resume of performing on soundtracks and scores for blockbuster movies (“Star Trek,” Pirates of the Caribbean,” “The Incredibles” and “Despicable Me”) and iconic television shows (from “Mad Men” and “Lost” to “American Idol,” “The Voice” and “America’s Got Talent”). She’s played concert and recording dates with A-listers Nina Simone, Burt Bacharach, Ray Charles, Quincy Jones, George Harrison, Michael Jackson, Barbra Streisand, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Aerosmith, Beyoncé, Usher, Taylor Swift, Gloria Estefan, Rod Stewart, Aretha Franklin, Celine Dion, James Brown, Carrie Underwood, David Sanborn and Chris Botti. Her film session assignments have been with some of  Hollywood’s finest composers such as Thomas Newman (14-time Academy Awards nominee), Michael Giacchino (an Oscar, Emmy and 3-time Grammy winner) and Hans Zimmer (4-time Grammy winner, 2-time Golden Globes winner and an Academy Awards winner). Kronstadt has performed on all the major awards shows such as the Academy Awards, Grammys, Emmys, American Music Awards, Soul Train Awards and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

As gratifying as the high-profile work is accompanying others, the artist longed to convey her own musical vision. Kronstadt finally dropped her debut disc, “Come Over,” in 2013. Radio airplay encouraged her to release an earlier offering, “Walk My Way,” the following year, which was originally recorded in 1997. A few years ago, she issued the one-off single, “That Way.” Resilient and back in good health, “October Comes Too Soon” merits Kronstadt the attention, accolades and admiration typically reserved for her clients.

“October Comes Too Soon” contains the following songs:

“A Simple Man”
“IRL”
“The Threat Of Love”
“Forever In A Row”
“October Comes Too Soon”
“Love Game”
“Maybe I Trusted”
“Who’ll Save You”

British singer and entertainer, KENNY LYNCH, dies at 81

The entertainer Kenny Lynch has died at the age of 81. Best known for on-screen roles in TV shows including The Sweeney, films such as Carry on Loving and for his pop career, Lynch’s death was announced by his family on Twitter, who commented that he would be “remembered & missed by many”.
Born in Stepney, east London, in 1938, to a Barbadian father and a mother of British and Jamaican heritage, Lynch was a pioneer for black representation in the UK’s entertainment industry. As a musician, Lynch was one of the country’s first black pop stars, touring with the Beatles and scoring two Top 10 hits, among them Up on the Roof – originally recorded by the Drifters – which was released in 1963. He also wrote the theme music for 1978’s Carry on Emmanuelle, Love Crazy. His TV career included roles and appearance on programmes such as Z-Cars, Celebrity Squares and Bullseye.

Tributes have been paid to Lynch on social media. Broadcaster Danny Baker described him as “one of the key witnesses to the 20th [century] UK music/entertainment scene [who] had a million stories”, while Culture Club singer Boy George described him as “[an] absolutely huge part of my 70s life”. Broadcaster Samira Ahmed called Lynch a “hugely important & stylish figure in British culture … proving to kids like me that we belonged”.

In a video interview with the digital project 1,000 Londoners last year, Lynch spoke about his family and early childhood, growing up at the beginning of the second world war. Lynch noted that they “never had racial problems with people in Cornwall Street, because basically we were probably a novelty … people would say ‘Oh, we’ve got some black people living next door to us; you should come around and see them – they’re almost the same as us’”. He would later become one of a small number of black artists to achieve pop fame in the 60s.
More recently, Lynch toured with Jimmy Tarbuck as a comedian and variety performer, and appeared on the ITV show Last Laugh in Vegas in 2018, alongside Hi-de-Hi!’s Su Pollard and Carry On actor Anita Harris. Lynch is survived by his two daughters, Amy and Bobby.

SPECIAL EFX EAGER TO GET INTO SOME ALL-STAR “HANKY PANKY” ON VALENTINE’S DAY

18/12/2019

The world jazz collective is set to drop the “All Stars” album on February 14 preceded by the radio single “Hanky Panky Boys.”

NEW YORK CITY (17 December 2019): Mainstay of the GRAMMY® nominated collective that is Special EFX, guitarist Chieli Minucci has spent a lot of time on the road the last few years with a revolving lineup of celebrated musicians who bring the band’s world jazz brand to life. When Minucci began writing the group’s 21st album that he produced, he came up with the idea of inviting each player from the rotating touring ensemble to perform on the album and even composed material with specific musicians in mind. The luminous result is “All Stars,” a title that is a nod to an accomplished supporting cast. The imaginative collage of contemporary jazz, world music and blues drops on February 14 on the Trippin ‘N’ Rhythm imprint. Radio will get its first sampling in the form of “Hanky Panky Boys,” a groovy, retro cool tune that finds Minucci’s guitar and organ getting into a heap of mischief with saxophonist Eric Marienthal.

“It was the first tune that I wrote specifically for the album and it doesn’t really sound like Special EFX, whatever that might be! I wanted to write something a bit different that we could play at jazz festival jam sessions, a piece that kind of sounds like a standard. Writing it got me fired up and inspired to write other music for the project,” said Minucci, who co-founded Special EFX 35 years ago with the late percussionist George Jinda and has amassed a host of Billboard No. 1 singles.

Minucci wrote thirteen songs for “All Stars” and scrapbooked the talented artists who brought his eclectic vision into focus along with his New York City-based core band members Jay Rowe (keyboards), Jerry Brooks (bass) and Joel Rosenblatt (drums). Among the dozens of guest stars on the album are violinist Regina Carter, saxophonist/flautist Nelson Rangell, trumpeter Lin Rountree, multi-horn player David Mann, Spyro Gyra drummer Lionel Cordew, bassist Gerald Veasley, keyboardist Lao Tizer, fretless bassist-vocalist Fernando Saunders, a longtime Special EFX family member who has a history with the outfit dating back to their formative years; and 2019 Soul Tracks Female Vocalist of the Year Maysa Leak, who soars mightily on a version of Jimi Hendrix’s “Little Wing.”

“I grew up listening to Jimi Hendrix. During a show we did two years ago with Maysa, I asked if she’d like to try singing ‘Little Wing’ and I was totally blown away. I asked her about making a recording of it and when she agreed, I got serious about the arrangement. I wanted to pay homage to the rock aspect of Jimi Hendrix. I also wanted to do something that was modern R&B. I think it came out unusual and I’m curious to hear how people react to it. I don’t really do cover tunes too often so this was different,” said Minucci, who will lead a revolving Special EFX lineup on a busy touring schedule in support of “All Stars” beginning on the eve of the album release date at Yoshi’s Oakland.

One song on “All Stars” is especially personal to Minucci. “‘Sweet Memories Of You’ is a solo guitar piece that has a deeper meaning for me because I wrote it around the time my mom was passing a few years ago. It’s one of the pieces I felt would be important to include on the record - not only to break up the mood and texture of the listen, but also to give people something a little more contemplative in the middle of the record.”

As the listener gets deeper into the album, the depth and breadth of Minucci’s compositional and arranging skills are on full display. “Kampala” was written on a borrowed acoustic guitar in a Ugandan hotel room during a concert tour. Minucci calls the two-part “Great Escape” “a labor of love that was written in odd meter because that’s part of the style I grew up listening to and really love. ‘Flows Like Water’ is a bit jazzier than what I typically do with Special EFX. I wanted to let people hear something a little bit different. I like to give people who buy our records and come to our shows a variety of styles. ‘Flows Like Water’ is a really nice representation of how tight the band has become over the many years we’ve worked together.”

“All Stars” concludes with “One Stick And A Stone” - the stick being Steve Adelson’s Chapman Stick that engages Minucci’s guitar intimately. “It’s a world groove piece reminiscent of what my late great partner, George Jinda, used to do on percussion. I wanted to end on a nostalgic note, something very true to the Special EFX sound.”

In addition to crafting Special EFX records, Minucci has released nearly a dozen solo collections. A guitar player gifted with an extensive sonic palate and technical proficiency, he has recorded and performed with a galaxy of A-list pop, rock, R&B and jazz stars spanning Celine Dion, Lou Reed, Chaka Khan, Lionel Richie, Jennifer Lopez, Jewel, Mark Anthony, Michael Bolton, Kirk Whalum, Jeff Lorber, Norman Brown, Rick Braun, Marion Meadows and Mindi Abair. Nominated for ten Emmy Awards for the music he created for television shows such as “The Guiding Light,” “Dancing With The Stars,” “American Idol” and “Good Morning America” (theme), Minucci is a three-time Emmy winner. He has also composed music for film (“Bowfinger,” “Legally Blond” and “Panic”) as well as stage (“Peter Pan,” “Dora the Explorer” and “Thomas the Tank Engine”).

On the other side of the holidays, Minucci is eager to begin introducing the music from “All Stars” to listeners. “I think it’s a really interesting sounding record. All over the place stylistically as I always do, but I enjoy that aspect. It was really intensive making this record.”

“All Stars” contains the following songs:

“Mr. Marzipan”                                                “Wake Up”
“Sunset Passion Juice”                                      “Sweet Memories Of You”
“Hanky Panky Boys”                                        “Kampala”

In addition to the platform’s current content offerings, Qwest TV Japan will offer 200 programs curated specifically for the local market. Each program will feature video-related information translated to Japanese, as well as the original liner notes. Content will be added on a daily basis following launch date. The platform will also feature upcoming playlists by Japan's major music clubs (including Blue Note Tokyo, Cotton Club and Motion Blue) developed around their scheduled forthcoming acts.

“Jazz content and music in general has significant appeal to the Japanese market historically,” adds Ackbaraly. “This is a natural addition for us, especially through a localized version of Qwest TV with strong local partners such as Blue Note, Motion Blue and Cotton Club.”

Events celebrating the platform’s launch in Japan will be announced in the coming days, presented in partnership with Rittor Music and supported by their publication, Jazz Guitar Magazine.

Commemorating its second anniversary, Qwest TV also announces a new education partnership program with select universities worldwide, offering students enrolled in participating schools complete access to Qwest TV for free. Initial university partners include Princeton University, The University of the Arts, University of Central Oklahoma, Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel, and University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, with additional schools to be announced in the coming months.

“Knowledge is one of the most important tools we can equip our youth with, because once you have given them the opportunity to learn something new, no one can ever take that away,” states Quincy Jones.

In addition to these latest announcements, Qwest TV continues to add new content which supports its new slogan, “From Be-Bop to Hip-Hop,” to reflect its further expansion of content offerings in additional jazz-related musical genres such as hip-hop, R&B, soul, and world music. New content coinciding with Qwest TV’s programming expansion will include original programs such as De La Soul (Live in France), an Aretha Franklin Tribute program featuring Antibalas, José James, Bettye LaVette and more, the Gospel According to Al Green, Black Wax (Gil Scott Heron) and many more.

The platform will also continue to feature premium music content, including an upcoming “Quincy Jones Presents: A Musical Celebration, Live in Paris conducted by Jules Buckley” (a Qwest TV original program), content partnerships with various European-based jazz clubs such as Moods Jazz Club in Zurich (100 programs, evenly split between new shows and archives), as well as artist curators including Chick Corea, Ed Motta, Michael League, Youssou N’Dour, Van Morrisson, and more. Various new and original content is consistently added to Qwest TV on a daily basis.

Daar brengt BLP records nu verandering in.

Bettye LaVette, Eddie Boyd Among 2020 Blues Hall of Fame Inductees

Records by Howlin' Wolf, B.B. King and Ruth Brown will be inducted as well during the May ceremony in Memphis.
The Blues Foundation has set 14 musicians, recordings and behind-the-scenes figures to be honored at part of its 41st class of inductees into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2020. As might be expected, the kudos are heavy on the classic blues era, but also include figures as alive and well as Bettye LaVette, the 73-year-old powerhouse singer who’s actually achieved a career plateau in the last 15 years.
Other contemporary musicians named to be being honored next May in Memphis include Syl Johnson, a Chicago funk-and-soul performer who rose to fame in the ’60s and ’70s (and remains a favorite of hip-hop samplers today), and harmonica player (and fellow Chicagoan) Billy Branch, who has found a second career as a renowned arts educator in recent years.
Among those who’ve passed on who are being inducted are pianist Eddie Boyd, who recorded for Chess in the ’50s and had a thriving career later in Europe before his death in 1994; Victoria Spivey, who had a 40-year recording career before dying in 1976 that included working with everyone from Louis Armstrong to Bob Dylan; and blues harp legend George “Harmonica” Smith, who died in 1983 and was famous for working with Muddy Waters in the ’50s as well as his own solo records.

Ralph Peer, a producer who is a familiar figure to Nashville historians, but whose work in recording blues musicians was vital in the 1920s, is being inducted in the individual (business, media and academic) category.
Several recordings are being named to the Blues Hall of Fame, with “Howlin’ Wolf: The Chess Box” getting the singular album honor, plus five singles: Arthur “Big Boy” Crudup’s “That’s All Right (Mama)” (famously covered by a fledgling Elvis Presley), Bertha “Chippie” Hill’s 1926 version of “Trouble in Mind”; Willie Brown’s 1930 “Future Blues” (revived in recent years by performers like Langhorne Slim); B.B. King’s breakout 1951 No. 1 R&B hit “3 O’Clock Blues”; and Ruth Brown’s still oft-revived 1953 R&B smash “Mama, He Treats Your Daughter Mean.”

Getting the honor for classic of blues literature is “Earl Hooker, Blues Master,” a 2001 biography of the guitarist (a 2016 inductee himself) by French writer Sebastian Danchin.
The induction ceremony will take place May 6, 2020 at the Halloran Centre at the Orpheum, the esteemed former movie palace in Memphis. Tickets for the Hall of Fame event as well as the annual Blues Music Awards go on sale Jan. 7.

BLOOMING BEAUTIFULLY: URBAN-JAZZ PIANIST KAYLA WATERS TOPS THE BILLBOARD SINGLES CHART FOR THE THIRD TIME WITH “FULL BLOOM”

17/12/2019

Foto
WASHINGTON (16 December 2019): Urban-Jazz pianist Kayla Waters is blooming into a consistent hitmaker. The Washington, DC-based musician-songwriter-producer-arranger went No. 1 on the Billboard national airplay chart dated December 14 with “Full Bloom,” which became the third chart-topping single of the emerging artist’s budding recording career.

“Full Bloom” appears on Waters’ sophomore album, “Coevolve,” issued last year by Trippin ‘N’ Rhythm Records. The album is a conceptual collection of songs loosely mirroring Waters’ own growth and development – musically, personally and spiritually. On “Full Bloom,” she uses the metaphor of a plant to tell the story of its evolution from seedling to flourishing flora. Writing with Michael Broening, who crafted the rhythm track, Waters’ lush piano melodies are permeated with fervent joy and exuberance just like the artist herself. Midtrack, guitarist and labelmate Nick Colionne adds an electric guitar solo like a nourishing ray of sunshine.

“Full Bloom’s” chart coronation concludes another year of significant growth for Waters, a classically trained pianist and a Howard University music school graduate. She spent half her weekends in 2019 on the road performing at marquee music festivals, theaters and clubs. Highlights include her debuts at Boscov’s Berks Jazz Festival, Seabreeze Jazz Festival, Newport Beach Jazz Festival, Rehoboth Beach Jazz Festival and the Algarve Jazz Festival, the last of which marked her European premiere. Waters’ 2020 concert calendar is already booking up with dates into September. Next month, she hits the high seas for the first time to perform aboard the Capital Jazz SuperCruise and in June, she will make her first appearance at the Napa Valley Jazz Getaway.

Waters introduced herself with self-confidence in 2017 with “I Am,” the first single from her debut album, “Apogee.” The single became her first Billboard No. 1 hit. The imaginative set earned her the Rising Star in Jazz award from the Black Women in Jazz and the Arts and Best Jazz Artist honors at DC’s Wammies. A year later, Waters scored her second consecutive No. 1 single with “Zephyr” from “Coevolve.”

Still in her 20s, Waters’ artistic vision, creativity, old-soul depth and sophisticated sonic palette that incorporates improvisational jazz, R&B grooves and inspired gospel tones have made her a welcome addition to the contemporary jazz scene. Add to it Waters’ ambition, attention to detail, alluring beauty, charismatic charm, devotional nature and fashion-model style, she represents a brand with the true potential to transcend far beyond music. Her plans for 2020 include releasing her third album in the fall and opening her PuriKey Productions to writing and producing music for other recording artists.

Samen zijn wij The Revolution.” - The Revolution

lifelong major players” - Rolling Stone

“I look forward to seeing my dear friends in Belgium next year. My Finale Tour is a trip through my music with my incredible Peter Frampton Band,” zegt Frampton.

Never believe in a standing ovation.’ Never. Believe.

’Steven belde Jasper Hautekiet, bassist van The Rhythm Junks. Volgende telefoon: Annelies Van Dinter, a.k.a. Echo Beatty.

Diabo Do Belho, een nummer uit Guy Van Nueten's volgende EP 'As played by'. Muziek van Van Nueten uitgevoerd door anderen.

Guy Van Nueten
'Diabo do belho' (single uit 13 dec 2019)
Concert 1 februari: Klara in deSingel 2020
nieuwe EP 'As Played By' uit 30/01/20

Bart Van Reyn bezorgd.

LARKIN POE [USA] EERSTE NAAM BLUES PEER 2020

Alan Parsons begon zijn carrière als muziektechnicus bij legendarische platen als 'Abbey Road’ (The Beatles), 'Let it be’ (The Beatles), 'Wild Life’ (Wings), 'Red Rose Speedway’ (Wings), 'Year of the Cat’ (Al Stewart) en 'Dark Side of The Moon’ (Pink Floyd).
Ze scoorden monsterhits en eeuwige roem met nummers als 'Eye In The Sky’, 'Sirius’, 'Don’t Answer Me’, 'Games People Play’, 'Old and Wise’, 'Time’, 'Prime Time’, 'I Robot’ en 'Standing on Higher Ground’.
