Piet Goddaer, the talented chap, proudly presents 'Paramount': fifteen carefully chosen tracks recorded with the National Orchestra of Belgium. A mix of big hits ('Sweet Instigator', 'Indian Summer'), intimate album cuts and a few new surprises. The most prominent of the latter being 'We Can Be Heroes', an interpretation of David Bowie's 'Heroes'. If you know your Ozark Henry history - or if you have read Keys and Chords' Piet Goddaer interview - you will know that David Bowie is one of Goddaer's heroes - and vice versa. I'd love to know what Iman Abdulmajid's hubby thinks of this cover version. 'Paramount' is released on compact disc, double vinyl and ... Blu-ray Audio! Quite the coup for a Belgian artist. A Blu-ray Audio disc uses its 50 gigabytes for nothing but high-fidelity audio. There are no images or videos on the disc. You may know 5.1 or 7.1 surround, but you'll be wowed by the 9.1 option on offer. Shame we couldn't review the disc, but only 250 copies were made. 'Paramount' is an expertly produced offering, including multi-hued melodies, gorgeous soundscapes and intriguing lyrics. A firm showing of workmanship and quality, with the ever sympathetic Piet Goddaer behind the wheel. He has every right to be proud of 'Paramount'. Paraproud, if you will.

Reilly's concept of RxGF originally began as Radioactive X Girlfriend with true open-journal experiences spanning several full-length records. RxGF now pleasantly innovates and blurs the lines between Electronic Indie, Industrial, Triphop, and Darkwave Indie. It's not a huge surprise that their latest voyage, Any Other Way is heavily electronic and sublime as they've been hinting at psychedelic and electro goth for the past 3 years. However the massive tribal drums give the band a unique sound that defies any existing genre.

'Insatiable: Hamster Axis of the one-click Panther & Mauro Pawlowski play the Peter Houben songbook'. Now there's a title to proudly display. 'Hamster Axis' instinctively reminded me of 'Hamster Huey and the Gooey Kablooie', the favourite book of Calvin in Bill Watterson masterful 'Calvin and Hobbes' comic universe. But no, Hamster Axis are a bunch of Belgian lads: Frederik Meulyzer, Janos Bruneel, Bram Weijters, Andrew Claes, and Lander van den Noortgate. Appearing loud and proud on the vocals is the inimitable, larger-than-life, super friendly Mauro Pawlowski. This 8-track album is a live recording, and the band's joy and pleasure are very apparent. The crop is diverse: 'Over The Hill' is smokey, jazzy and atmospheric, whereas 'Insatiable' jumps around like a mad scientist on steroids. The artwork (a cut-out of a fake breast?) and handwritten track titles further enhance the album's originality. 'Hamster Axis' is wild, unpredictable, swinging and infectious. In all, everything a good record should be. Needless to say, this is another Starman Records release - the label synonymous with quality.

A double album. The first is done in traditional Brazilian atmosphere, completely instrumental, while the second is a collaboration with singer Rebecca Jenkins.
